So anyone here like Barghest? I got their self-titled release off S4D and I'm digging it. It's pretty traditional, I suppose, but not boring.

Don't think I ever checked out Thou, or Leech, for that matter. (They have a split, right?) I've seen the names pop up a lot, but I never got around to listening to the music. What sort of music is it?

Leech sound like fucking awesome Black Metal, I don't know how else to describe them other than one of the most solid BM acts in the past 5 years or so.

Thou are a sludge metal band with crushing vocals, on their last album they had some BM influence but it wasn't much, it was still pretty Sludgy as fuck.

I think you would like Leech the most since I haven't seen you listen to any Sludge. Get Ten Black Hymns.

Production seems a bit weird - very loud drums.

EDIT: this is pretty cool. There's this one recurring riff in here that reminds me of a melody in a classical piece, but I can't recall what it was.

Just listened again, I like it, just takes some getting used to the production, even though it's not even unlistenably raw or anything. I'll listen to the whole album sometime soon. That way it'll also be easier to get into the sound at track 1 and then go on listening. Some bands really need that full-album-listening-experience, imo.

you guys ever heard of lilin? I got their demo, which is really fucking raw, but the compositions are really really impressive. First-wave-ish with a bunch of intricacies I wasn't expecting whatsoever, esp. for a funeralstench grab.
