I haven't listened to Bitches Brew yet, but In A Silent Way is a tough competitior.

You should Bitches Brew is one of my favorite albums. Behind A Love Supreme it's my favorite Jazz album. In A Silent Way is great and was quite revolutionary but it doesn't compare to the druggy solos and dark grooves of Bitches Brew.

What's that Calexico album you guys talk about so much?

robo2448 07-16-2005 05:26 PM

I bought Eric Clapton- Rainbow Concert this afternoon. It's amazing. It's like a long jam session. I know I'm supposed to be saving up money for the possible Cream show, but I can't resist.

And I take Latin. I find it incredibly easy, but everyone else finds it impossible

Welcome back Walrus

Lunch 07-16-2005 05:27 PM

Probably Convict Pool. And I agree, Bitches Brew is an amazing album.

I also took Latin for my first two years in high school, but then the teacher left and we couldn't get another one. I did pretty well.

robo2448 07-16-2005 06:36 PM

Has anyone heard the album I bought? It has Pete Townsend and Ron Wood. If you don't already know, this took place in 1972, and Eric Clapton had been fighting a heroin addiction and had not performed in public for a few years except at Concert for Bangladesh. Pete Townsend organized this concert to get Clapton away from heroin and back into the music world. It's an amazing concert.

Today I went to the book store with my mom to get a guitar magazine while she got the new Harry Potter book for my brother, and I was looking through the books, and I found Searching for the Sound: My Life with the Grateful Dead by Phil Lesh so I made my mom buy it for my because she was buying a book for my brother.

/bad story , but only story

I just got it half an hour ago, so no.

If you are talking about Harry Potter, I'll probably read it after my brother reads it.

Thanks

Latin is sweet. My friend and I teach it to ourselves and get credit for it.

I've heard of it, I know what you're talking about. I didn't know it was recorded, though

It is really good. I missed it when I was in Spain, It gives a really good insight into the Beatnik/hippie lifestyle and roots in SF, since Phil Lesh seemed to witness it all (from what I have read sofar)

Go to Costco. I didn't even know it was coming out today, but I went to Costco for lunch (on weekends, I go to Costco and eat free samples for lunch) and there were hundreds of copies there.

Was there as much hype about it as there was last time one came out? I kind of missed it

PS- You are such a bum :p

Seriously, try the free samples there, they are fucking great. I buy a ton of stuff there though, so I make up for it.

They really are. Costco is so great.

Lunch 07-16-2005 07:24 PM

I don't have a Costco, I must be missing out.

Illmatic 07-16-2005 07:34 PM

There's a Costco near where I live, haven't been there in a while. Maybe it went out of business.

Seafroggys 07-16-2005 07:38 PM

I used to go to Costco a lot when I was a kid, back when we were members. Bi-Mart's so much more convienient though (so many around where I live).

But Costco was the only place that had Aronia Berry juice, my favorite drink of all time. I haven't had that in like four years, and I can still recall the taste on my taste buds....mmmmmm.....

Oh man that stuff is delicious.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Costco near where I live was built in an old airplane hanger. It's this massive cold grey steel building.

Illmatic 07-16-2005 07:53 PM

The Costco I used to go to was in some huge warehouse. The best part of the place was the section with outdoorsy stuff like fishing rods, kayaks, and machetes. Aw man.

What is a "Costco"?

Does anyone know the tragic importance of tomorrow?

drugstore cowboy 07-16-2005 08:09 PM

The nearest Costco to me doesn't have free samples. Though, they used to, when they were under a different name.

Stonefree, you mentioned Q 107. Whereabouts are you?

on a classic rock related note, I got a best of Lighthouse album today. They're better than the Guess Who, in terms of Canadian bands. Yup.

np: Hats off to the Stranger - Lighthouse.

I just got my first Byrds album! It's really good, I'm digging it.

Edit: 38 years ago (tomorrow) one of the greatest (if not the greatest) musicians died suddenly of liver cancer in New York City.

Edit: Cream formed 39 years ago today. (BTW)
