for christmas i mostly asked for CDs, some DVDs, some cheaper drum equipment, and misc. stuff like a stocking cap and a KVM switch (a computer gadget)

PinkFreud 12-12-2005 01:49 PM

a stocking cap?

Krabsworth 12-12-2005 02:50 PM

Bump and save.
Which Neil Young album do I need next?? Here's what I have so far:

S/T
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
After the Goldrush
Harvest
On the Beach
Rust Never Sleeps
Prairie Wind
Tongihts the Night, Greendale and Ragged Glory.

In order too.

EDIT: My parents have a Chet Atkins/Mark Knophler album and my dad says it has some of the best guitar playing he's ever heard on it. Too bad I can't find it at the moment.

robo2448 12-12-2005 03:24 PM

You should get Live Rust too. Zuma is also pretty good. It has Cortez the Killer which is one of my favorite Neil songs but the rest of the album isn't as consistent.

np- Woody Guthrie- So Long It's Been Good to Know You

Oh yeah I have heard of that one, with Atkins/Mark Wanker

Yeah, Zuma wouldn't be a bad choice either, I'd probably put it behind Ragged Glory, for now anyways.

thickasabrick 12-12-2005 03:56 PM

How come Magicbus got banned?

Chet Atkins is one of my top five favourite guitarists of all time. He blows me away. Mark Wanker....that's funny.

I suggest Live Rust.

Looking through his recent posts, Magicbus might have been banned for this post- http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10703217&postcount=27

Live Rust is awesome. I should probably pick up Ragged Glory.

The Kinks are awesome.

No, tehchad just hacked my account for a SECOND time. :/ The poop still flys.

Yea, The Kinks are awesome. I really like Arthur.

Also, VU's White Light/White Heat is sweet. That bassline on "The Gift" ruuuules.

jpj 12-12-2005 04:44 PM

This isn't classic rock related, but I just got a free trial at Netflix and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. So far I've ordered Festival Express (hey, this is classic rock related) and Hotel Rwanda. I think I might get A Clockwork Orange, and maybe Cream Farewell Concert or Concert for Bangladesh.

Also, discuss three above mentioned CR DVD's.

Broken Arrow 12-12-2005 06:04 PM

I have honestly never seen Festival Express sober.

I like Loaded by VU.

jpj 12-12-2005 06:05 PM

I haven't seen it all, so you > me.

My Queue:

1. Festival Express
2. Hotel Rwanda
3. A Clockwork Orange
4. Lord of the Flies
5. Apocalypse Now Redux
6. The Deer Hunter
7. Mean Streets

This made me realize how many Martin Scorsese movies I need to see.

NP: Bob Dylan-Idiot Wind

Broken Arrow 12-12-2005 06:08 PM

Well you should.

Yes, Ragged Glory. An album built on a grungey country sound with long jammy songs, whats not to like?

jpj 12-12-2005 06:10 PM
Yes, Ragged Glory. An album built on a grungey country sound with long jammy songs, whats not to like?
Well, boy I do say that sounds like a bloody good time.

Broken Arrow 12-12-2005 06:17 PM

Haha, I must say it is.

/can't determine of there was any sarcasm or not

jpj 12-12-2005 06:19 PM

There may have been a little.

well at least you know you need to see scorcese movies. i would also recommend taxi driver, casino, goodfellas, and raging bull if you havent seen those. donnie brasco is excellent. uh. other stuff as well.

jpj 12-12-2005 06:27 PM

I've seen all those, but Casino, which I really can't believe I haven't seen yet.

robo2448 12-12-2005 06:28 PM

I should pick up Ragged Glory sometime. Sounds good.

JPJ, order Concert for Bangladesh, it's awesome. George, Clapton, Dylan, Billy Preston, Ringo, Ravi Shankur... good stuff.

Edit- I need to see lots of Scorses movies. I'm pretty behind on that.

jpj 12-12-2005 06:29 PM
JPJ, order Concert for Bangladesh, it's awesome. George, Clapton, Dylan, Billy Preston, Ringo, Ravi Shankur... good stuff.
I want to, but my mom also wants to order some movies she wants, so we'll see.

Does anyone know what ELP album Karn Evil 9 is on? I can't seem to find it.

Krabsworth 12-12-2005 06:43 PM

What does tehchad have against Magicbus?

Anyway will anyone send me some Frank Zappa :-(

Ha, my queue has 122 movies on it.

My queue Top 5:

1. Battle Royale
2. Once Upon a Time in America
3. Schindler's List
4. Jacob's Ladder
5. MASH

Broken Arrow 12-12-2005 07:06 PM

Schindler's List sounds interesting to me, but I haven't seen it yet.

You guys are way more into movies than I'm am. Meh.

Well, this is just a free trial, 10 movies in 2 weeks. I think I'm gonna have my mom countinue it after the trial is over though, so I could just make my list huge anyway.

EDIT: Elton John is playing Pinball Wizard on NBC right now.

Badmoon 12-12-2005 07:17 PM
battle royale is ok but the novel is much better. have you read it yet?
No, but I've been thinking about reading it.

Bus 12-12-2005 07:43 PM

I heard Jacob's Ladder was creepy, but I've never seen it.

I really want to see The Warriors. That's my top movie right now.

JonG 12-12-2005 07:49 PM

I want to see City of God, people have said it was good, but I've yet to see it.

I also wrote a lot on my last reply, but it didn't go through. yay.

jpj 12-12-2005 07:50 PM

I decided to add Jacob's Ladder to my list. It's now up to 34 :p

i am the robots 12-12-2005 07:56 PM

I need a favor guys, could somebody link me to that article about how Jimmy Page is a thief...?

Jacaranda 12-12-2005 07:58 PM

http://www.furious.com/perfect/jimmypage.html would be it.

Once Upon a Time In America, eh Badmoon excellent movie. Same with Schindler's List, I preferred the Pianist over it as my favorite WWII movie.

i am the robots 12-12-2005 08:00 PM

thanks man :)

Seu Jorge is in that. Most people I know who've seen it liked it.
Once Upon a Time In America, eh Badmoon excellent movie. Same with Schindler's List, I preferred the Pianist over it as my favorite WWII movie.
I've only seen part of Once Upon a Time In America, but what I saw I liked. I also put Schindler's List and The Pianist on my list.

Jacaranda 12-12-2005 08:17 PM

If you haven't seen it Carlito's Way is an excellent gangster film also, with Al Pachino and a curly haired Sean Penn. I liked it a lot. Now there is some dumb sequel or something coming out with P. Diddy :upset:

NP: Bohemian Rhapsody.

So, uh funny story I got a allergic re-action from this medicine I'm taking for my pneumonia and I got hive's all over now. Now Itching: The Bottom of my Feet. The only thing that can cure this is a good shot of Queen I reckon.

blue3 12-12-2005 09:13 PM

That sucks.. Uh yeah, listening to Queen can heal anything. Bohemian Rhapsody is an awesome song.

zabbit82 12-12-2005 09:23 PM

So is Tie Your Mother Down. that has to be my favorite Queen song of all time. :thumb: to the great guitar tone on that.

robo2448 12-12-2005 09:24 PM

Yeah that really sucks.

I've been on a country-rock and folk-rock kick lately. I really can't stop listening to The Byrds. I don't even have The Byrds supposed masterpiece (Sweetheart of the Rodeo), but I've been listening to Fifth Dimension and Ballad of An Easy Rider a lot. I need Sweetheart of the Rodeo for Christmas. The Byrds are so catchy with McGuinn's 12 string and perfect vocal harmonies, I just can't stop listening to them.
