Well that sucked.

I like songs that play out a story or something. Thats why I have been listening to alot of Eastern ethnic music, Flamenco, and classical. Even with half the songs having no lyrics (Or none in english at least) the emotion is put forth much better than Nick Lacheys 3 minute chorus.

milkmit 05-11-2006 12:20 AM
:) I have no idea who that is.

haha Don't really like the music, was just amazed at a 1:54 second "song" I have written guitar solos longer than that rofl.
gondry!
the man is a genius!

he's directed tons of videos for the likes of the foo fighters ('everlong'), daft punk ('around the world'), bjork (lots), beck, radiohead, gary jules ('mad world', the song in donnie darko), the white stripes, and bunches more.. he also directed 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind', which was his first full-length film, and more recently, 'dave chappelle's block party'.

incidentally, I just read that he also did the vines' other video, for 'ride'....which is a shame because I really dislike the vines.

but anyway....gondry is a freaking genius. been a fan of him for years and it's so cool to see the themes he's been dealing with all his life are finally making it to the big screen (memory, consciousness, childhood, etc).

Punk music opens up a world of short songs. Or did you mean short for a rock song?

The ex went into hospital last night.

Just got back from stupid NYSSMA band competition.
We took gold, but I thought our playing was horrific. Our intonation sucked, half the band kept missing entrances and dissolving into fits of giggles when they realized it, and the god damn percussion couldn't grasp playing quieter with a shell around us, so they totally buried the entire band.
But whatever.

I'm hungry again.

Seafroggys 05-11-2006 02:29 PM

that sounds like a typical high school band to me

its not that hard to win with that sort of sound ;)

Janeway 05-11-2006 02:37 PM

We're above average.
Especially considering that we've got one band who takes anyone and everyone who applies. That only leaves us with about 42 kids, anyways.
We do quite a bit with such limited players, and IMO, we give the big schools with exclusive bands a run for thier money.

Except for today.
Fwah.

If you guys play that song it is an insta win.

Janeway 05-11-2006 02:45 PM

Ha.
That was hanging on the wall in the warm up room we had.

milkmit 05-11-2006 02:53 PM

yay I finally figured out why my floor tom was so hard to tune.... the bottom rim was slightly bent, making the head a bit wrinkled.. I took it off and retuned from scratch (which I should have done long ago) and now it sounds gooooood!

in slightly crappier news, I still suck on the drums. :/

red n black 05-11-2006 03:02 PM

good for you :thumb:

Janeway 05-11-2006 03:03 PM

Eh.
You didn't notice the bent rim when you were attempting to tune before?

Aight. I've got to fill time up for my english teacher and write a story.
I'm thinking of like...a story about this chick who starts hanging around with skinheads just to fuck their girlfriends/sisters. It's very lame, but she likes when I write lame things.

Hey Phil.

How do you set up your right footed Tambourine. Doesn't it get in the way of your bassdrum?
