CCR
DMV Disclaimer- I am, in no way, not a fan of CCR. BUT! While I thouroughly enjoy their music,

The Grateful Dead were/are better.

I love Lucky Man by ELP. I also enjoy Tarkus, or at least I think I did. I can't quite remember too much about it aside from the fact that it was a exceedingly long.

I've heard another longish song by them about time/life. I don't recall the name though.
This made little sense to me. It;s probably me though.
It's a double negative
I think I've only heard one song by them, I'm not even sure if it was them though. It was really were upbeat song that had lots of changes.

It was about seeing a show or something, still I'm no sure if this was even them.
Yea, that's them. That's a really cool song.

Glitterati 12-11-2005 06:24 PM

Bright Eyes...meh. It seems half of Alt/Indie loves him, and the other half (me included) don't see why he's so great. I tried him out, but I prefer Elliott Smith.

Broken Arrow 12-11-2005 06:27 PM

Why do the CR regulars mostly have black and white avatars?

I think this came up a long time ago.

I believe it's Karn Evil 9 (1st Impression Pt. 2).

I think the Black & White avatars look very intelligent. Same with those weird metal avatars. like the ones Cain and Stoic have. Not like those shitty homemade ones.

magicbus 12-11-2005 06:41 PM

I've always liked black and white avatars. Whether it be my Buddy Guy, Robbie Robertson, Jim Morrison, George Harrison, Taxi Driver, or Belushi avatars.

So I just listened to Raw Power, The Stooges, and Funhouse in a row, to see which I liked best. They're all pretty awesome. The only track I didn't like a lot was "We Will Fall" (off The Stooges), because it dragged on a bit too long. But otherwise these albums rock.

NP: The Stooges - 1970

Broken Arrow 12-11-2005 06:48 PM

The only one I have is Raw Power and it doesn't have a bad song on it. It also makes me want to start a garage band.

np-Neil Young-Sugar Mountain

I have been listening to acoustic music all day, while writing a history essay in my shorts and t shirt while outside it is snowing so badly I cant even see out my window.

blue3 12-11-2005 06:52 PM

Raw Power is an awesome song. I've never heard The Stooges version though.. I've heard GNR's cover of it.

robo2448 12-11-2005 07:03 PM

My avatar isn't black and white but I think it's a pretty cool picture of Lennon.

The Band are awesome. I've been listening to a lot of them a lot today.

I'm going to make a Christmas list tonight:cool:. Should be lots of good cds on that list.

Glitterati 12-11-2005 07:05 PM

Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell is a great song off Raw Power. It has that really rough anarchic noise that The Stooges seemed to perfect.

My mom said she has only gotten a couple and hinted to me I was gonna get something bigger instead of a bunch of CDs and shirts like last year. Now i'm excited to find out what it is because I didnt ask for anything big.

I'm probably getting mostly money and gift certificates this year. I think, for my post-Christmas buying stuff, I'm gonna go downtown and look for this wicked Devo shirt I saw a while.

Badmoon 12-11-2005 07:36 PM

I only have Live at Stubb's on my list right now.

I hope I get more...

Woah just realized that.

Broken Arrow 12-11-2005 07:38 PM

Who's that that by?

My CD list just had a bunch of MP3s that I have on my computer and I wanted to own the real thing.

Yeah me too for the most part. There are some cds that I have on my computer that I really need to own. My list is mostly just cds, dvds, and some books. I can't really think of any thing big that I want. Well a car would be nice... but that's not exactly an option.

Edit- I thought I saw Lunch earlier

Broken Arrow 12-11-2005 07:48 PM
Matisyahu
Nice. I only have that one album by him on the computer, it's pretty sweet though.
I am a lonely visitor.
I came to late to cause a stir,
Though I campaigned all my life
towards that goal.
I hardly slept the night you wept
Our secret's safe and still well kept
Where even Richard Nixon has got soul.
Even Richard Nixon has got
Soul.

Traffic cops are all color blind.
People steal from their own kind.
Evening comes to early for a stroll.
Down neon streets the streaker streaks.
The speaker speaks,
but the truth still leaks,
Where even Richard Nixon has got soul.
Even Richard Nixon has got it,
Soul.

The podium rocks in the crowded waves.
The speaker talks of the beautiful saves
That went down long before
he played this role
For the hotel queens and the magazines,
Test tube genes and slot machines
Where even Richard Nixon got soul.
Even Richard Nixon has got it,
Soul.

Hospitals have made him cry,
But there's always a free way in his eye,
Though his beach just got
too crowded for his stroll.
Roads stretch out like healthy veins,
And wild gift horses strain the reins,
Where even Richard Nixon has got soul.
Even Richard Nixon has got
Soul.

I am a lonely visitor.
I came to late to cause a stir,
Though I campaigned all my life
towards that goal.

I still haven't listened to all of the Matisyahu album, but the songs I have listened to are awesome.

The way things are shaping up this Christmas I may be getting a 6-string bass much sooner than I once thought.

Broken Arrow 12-11-2005 07:55 PM

You know my thoughts on the 6 string JPJ.

Haha you said the same thing about Matisyahu like 3 weeks ago.
Where is Lunch? Haven't seem in a while...
I posted earlier today.

I asked for just CDs too.

magicbus 12-11-2005 09:36 PM

In other news, I'm listening to VU & Nico again (I rediscovered "Venus In Furs" while heavily under the influence last night), and I also downloaded White Light/White Heat. I'm going to try that out next.

Glitterati 12-11-2005 09:46 PM

How scandalous

Prince is so awesome.
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. my ipod is broken. things are not coming up allen. **** this. im so pissed.
Ah! Does it have a warranty? Hope to god it has a warranty.

np: Frank Zappa - Wowie Zowie

PinkFreud 12-11-2005 10:44 PM

nooooooooooooo, its out of warranty. the quote was $319 to fix it. looks like im going ipodless for a while. maybe i'll ask my parents to pay half of a a new one for christmas so i still get my playstation 2. ha. i sound lame. if i got a new one, i would probably just get 20 gig and rotate music. its not like i can fit all of my music on my 40 gig anyway.

thickasabrick 12-11-2005 11:32 PM

I only asked for gift certificates to a certain store I like, a yoga mat, and books. For some reason I didn't ask for any music...it never occured to me as I made my list.

Anyone in here listen to Chet Atkins?

Leper 12-12-2005 12:52 AM

So far my Christmas list is just CD's. I found out that it's surprisingly hard to make a list when you actually have money. Makes it tough to think of something unique that you wouldn't normally go out and buy on your own.

Glitterati 12-12-2005 01:22 AM

I got my dad The Essential Willie Nelson. I'll probably be listening to it as much as he will :p

Leper 12-12-2005 01:29 AM
I got my dad The Essential Willie Nelson. I'll probably be listening to it as much as he will :p
I would get my dad a cd or two, but he never listens to them. My mom got him the Rolling Stones 40 licks last year and I think he's listened to it once.

PinkFreud 12-12-2005 02:13 AM

thats the same as my dad. except maybe its just the stuff i get him. when i left for college, my parents started listening to my cds. ha.

Glitterati 12-12-2005 10:46 AM

If Princes does do a North American tour, I would love to see him.

CaptainWaits 12-12-2005 11:34 AM
