new band logo
Is that the public enemy logo on the right?

And Pints of guiness is an amazing song, although it's the only one I've heard of of Reinventing Axl Rose. I want that album so bad but they don't have it around here so I have to get it off ebay or interpunk next time I have money

AndreTheHyena 04-18-2005 06:04 PM

Axl Rose is so much better than their last one. Judging from the leaked demo, the next one will be amazing.

sketchyjoe 04-18-2005 06:16 PM

Everyone go into the Hardcore forum and call DFelon a faggot for banning Shane.

Forest_Fire 04-18-2005 06:16 PM

I have the Eternal Cowboy one. It's okay, but some of the songs aren't very good.

When's the next one coming out?

AndreTheHyena 04-18-2005 06:19 PM

August? I think?

Forest_Fire 04-18-2005 06:25 PM

I don't want to wait that long.

My friends band tries hard to sound a lot like AM! They're a duo, acoustic guitar and drums and they both sing. They've only been around for a month but a lot of people seem to like them so far. I'll post an mp3 if I can find one

AndreTheHyena 04-18-2005 06:26 PM

Down here (FL) there are a lot of bands that try to sound like them, which isn't a bad thing. They're definitely an influence on my solo stuff, but most of my songs don't sound anything like them.

Forest_Fire 04-18-2005 06:29 PM

They are by far my biggest influence for my acoustic guitar playing, which is only about once a week becuase it's my brothers and I can only play it when he's away. But I still have a song or two written with it

RetiredAt21 04-18-2005 06:38 PM

That sounds pretty good.

Do you know the names of any bands, or have any links?

Also, the new CD is due out September 6th. They started recording today, and an album name should be decided by the time they're done. www.againstme.net

I can't say enough about Against Me! They're just so amazing. I'll be posting a bio soon, I just need to skim through the DVD to see if there's any important stuff I missed.

Miami is awesome. I hear it's about the FTAA protests that occured there in 2003. My favorite song is probably number 5 though.

Jessizzle 04-18-2005 06:51 PM

That used to happen to me... except I was too punkXxxxX RaWAk#3@xxX for lessons.

And +10 points for me since I have the 42nd most posts in this thread .

RetiredAt21 04-18-2005 09:21 PM

I never took guitar lessons. I never really saw a reason to, I think I'm doing pretty good for teaching myself.

El_Shiznit 04-18-2005 09:24 PM

I took them for a long time. And for that period of time, I wasn't all that interested. So after I quit lessons, I put down the guitar for good. Until a little over a year ago. I had to pretty much teach myself everything again. It sucks, but I think I'm getting there.

guns_of_brixton 04-18-2005 09:27 PM

I dont think lessons are necessary. If you take lessons, you end up learning guitar how your teacher plays, and if the teacher ply a different style than you want to, it kind of sucks. I've been playing for almost 4 years, and I consider myself pretty damn good.

Brain Toad 04-18-2005 09:28 PM

Ive been taking them for about a year and a half, I've learned a lot and glad I took them. But I'll probably stop soon, because I'll have all the college stuff, and there isnt much more I can get from the teacher, except maybe more music theory.

clash_hooligans 04-18-2005 09:29 PM

I've never had bass lessons but i wanna go to learn the theory so i can write songs properly.

guns_of_brixton 04-18-2005 09:31 PM

Yea, all the music theory I have comes from just listening and picking stuff up as I hear it. I would've really liked somebody to teach me scales, because I'm now learning them the hard way, because when you don''t know them, soloing becomes guesswork.

EDIT: 1500 posts!

Brain Toad 04-18-2005 09:32 PM

I want an acoustic so I can play Johnny Cash songs and have them sound proper. They just sound odd on electric.

guns_of_brixton 04-18-2005 09:33 PM
I've never had bass lessons but i wanna go to learn the theory so i can write songs properly.
Thats odd. I've heard alot of people that took lessons complain about not being able to write their own stuff. But that has more to do with the individual musician.

RetiredAt21 04-18-2005 09:33 PM

Most of my solos sound like trem picked garbage.

honkybrewster 04-18-2005 09:50 PM

So some asshole tripped me at the Agnostic Front show because he didn't like how I was dancing. Are hardcore kids like this everywhere?

honkybrewster 04-18-2005 09:52 PM

Oh the kids here are xBOOBIExFREExYOUTHx

AndreTheHyena 04-18-2005 10:21 PM

I've only been playing guitar for a year, and I can hold my own just fine. I know fuc'k-all about theory, but I know scales and keys, and I write songs regularly. You don't need any kind of lesson as long as you can dedicate yourself to the art properly.

honkybrewster 04-18-2005 10:24 PM

Damn, only a year? And you can already sing and play as well as you do?

RetiredAt21 04-18-2005 10:27 PM

I've been play for almost two and a half years, and I can't sing and play at the same time. That is really hard.

TheNowhereman42 04-18-2005 10:38 PM

You just need to really practice the song so you can play it without even thinking about it, and then concentrait on singing.

Try it with ska or reggae first, or a simple power chords song. I can play most all ska/reggae, and then some really easy songs like blitzkrieg bop

Also, I've been listening to Beck all weekend for some reason, am I a horrible person?

RetiredAt21 04-18-2005 10:44 PM

Beck isn't that bad. I used to listen to him alot. Now just occasionally.
