Well, thanks, it was a decent cover, but there's nothing technical about the song at all. Despite me not being great, that song doesn't show the skills I have.
POST IT!!!!! |
You have a POD? WTF! Post recordings ASAP!
Yeah I thought this was better. And thank you about the tone. I can post the tone i'm using, if you like? Heres one more track I recorded the other day: /whore http://s31.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2B39O7G2DYNNL02Y6Q48TKHJP
Don't post anymore...you're totally degrading my sense of guitar self-image :) . Good stuff. Is there anything in particular you did you learn to play like that or was it just practice in general? |
All right, while we're doing this, I think I'll post the songs I wrote for my college app CD. The production is bad on the electric one, and there are minor errors on the acoustic one, but the songs are cool. I'll post better versions someday. I'm just curious though: can I have some instruction on how to use yousendit?
Well, you just put in your email adress and upload the file really...thats all. |
Don't post anymore...you're totally degrading my sense of guitar self-image :) .
Stop! You're making me feel terrible. :(
Good stuff. Is there anything in particular you did you learn to play like that or was it just practice in general?
It was really just practice. I never discovered shred until about a year and a half ago. I had been playing for about 4 years by then. This is my 5 year. |
POST IT!!!!!
I can't right now. I'm at work and the song is on my home comp. I can do it later or tomorrow. |
Opinions
It's ok...impressive playing as always, but the key modulation is a bit obvious. You would benefit from theory so much I think, you just need good books. Have you heard of the Guitar Grimoire? Those books are how I think I actually GOT theory for the first time. EDIT: Ok, I know it's late, but hang around guys. I would like you to hear my songs. |
POST IT!!!!!
Ripper, do you want the tone i'm using? Since you have a POD, you should be able to upload it, right? (if you have Guitar Port) |

Really? Are they sold in the U.S.? /desperetly needs theory I've also thought about cyber fret, hows that? |
Wow! I was just cleaning some cabinets around the house, and I saw my mum's old CD collection. Looking through it, I saw tons of great albums, like Beach Boys, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, JJ Cale, Chuck Berry and Tom Waits. I'm ripping them to my comp as I type.
Wow! Looks like my post has been ignored by you guitar whores... |
Ripper, do you want the tone i'm using? Since you have a POD, you should be able to upload it, right? (if you have Guitar Port)
I have no Guitar Port. Just post settings. I assume it's a Rectified or some other thing. Insane most likely.

Sorry, Jason. :) That's pretty cool. My dad has so many CDs and records that I'm always looking through them, seeing if I missed anything. I usually always find something new. |
Really? Are they sold in the U.S.?
/desperetly needs theory I've also thought about cyber fret, hows that?
Yes. I've usually been able to find them in my local Borders. I know nothing about cyberfret. One site that's also given me positive results is looknohands.com/chordhouse/. EDIT: Ok, the playing on the electric song on my college app CD is painful. It's ok speed and dexterity-wise, but the song was an attempt to write a song based on one note and modulate through the keys that way. At certain points I forget what I'm playing and go on a bad note spree. The acoustic stuff may be too light for your tastes, Ramsey, but I hope you'll enjoy it all the same. I hope to make MP3s from my cassettes eventually too, because those are much more recent and much better, IMO. |

Nah man, I don't mind. Post. :)
It's not working. I typed in my e-mail and selected the file and the next page won't load. BTW, I can't get it to an MP3: It shows as an mpeg audio file. Is that cool? Everyone can play mpegs, right? |

Yeah, I'm going to look through her vinyls again, see if I missed anything.
Yeah, I'm going to look through her vinyls again, see if I missed anything.
Hey Jason, I got my camera up and running, so if you think you can take it you can now see what the uber-l337 soldier looks like. |

OMG! It's hideous!
Nah, you look pretty fit. :) Love the buzz cut. |

Does it work?
I'm liking this :D
Really? Awesome. I liked when the three guitar harmonies all come in. It wasn't mixed the way I wanted, exactly, but I think it sounds pretty ok. |
