Ok... I just watched Rock in Rio on my friend's big screen with surround sound. That concert is so amazing.
I paid 60 bucks for that dvd. At first i thought i wasted my money but then it grew on me and now i can't put the bloody thing down, i'm afraid i'll wear it out lol. Faviourite songs: Wicker man, The Clansman, Sign Of The Cross,

ooh hell just the whole thing is awesome even the interviews and behind the sceens stuff :thumb: i'll give it 15 out of 10 :D

IcedEarth 01-15-2005 12:35 AM

Yum an Iron Maiden thread.. wow you paid $60 for Rock in Rio, Mine was only like $35

The Essential 01-15-2005 01:44 AM
Dream of Mirrors....
Oops...:thumb:

I missed some words out...

It was meant to say:

"The dream is true" in The Dream of Mirrors and the "Whoa-oh-oh" in The Wicker Man.

;)

EDIT: Oh, and Janick's solo in The Clansman.

Stevie 01-15-2005 08:07 AM

GurS 01-15-2005 08:59 AM

you need a password :/

Worst stage outfit: H on Maiden England. Whats with the furry waistcoat

Did you know that on the original STA, Sanctuary was not on it? :/

Stevie 01-15-2005 09:36 AM

Strange, I can access it easily...I'll change it if I can.

Can be found as signature in this first guy's post

magicbus 01-15-2005 10:59 AM

As a first Maiden cd, would you recommend Powerslave or Number of the Beast?

GurS 01-15-2005 11:04 AM

still gonna need that password.

and I say as a first album, Number of the beast. People who are new to maiden get bored by Rime and also don't fully appreciate Flash of the Blade, The Duellists and Back in the Village. i'd say powerslave is more a third or fourth album.

IAJP 01-15-2005 11:19 AM

Oooh,
I'm listening to their debut right now

mordredozzy124 01-15-2005 12:08 PM

Could anyone reccomend me some specific tracks with Blaze Bayley singing please? I have a lot of Bruce Dickinson stuff, but I'd like to hear what Blaze sounds like so I can decide whether to buy X Factor.

666th post too.

IAJP 01-15-2005 12:12 PM

Erm..
Futeral,Man On The Edge,
are the ones that instantly spring to mind.

Stevie 01-15-2005 12:13 PM

^^ Try Futureal, Clansman

Both arn't on X Factor, but I'd warn you, neither album is too great. I mean they're not bad but you're likely to never really want to listen to them. Seriously I own both X Factor and Virtual XI and I have listened to them both fully about twice each.

IAJP 01-15-2005 12:18 PM

To be honest,
I don't rate Blaze Bayley at all really,
his voice might be OK, but it doesn't really suit Maidens' style.

GurS 01-15-2005 12:44 PM

he did sign of the cross well

MAthiAS 01-15-2005 12:46 PM
oh! then you heard the screaming guy in the back of the last part of "sign of the cross"--- that one is damn freaky....
Yeah I know man!
The Clansman
I don't even have the studio version of it, but thats one of my favorites on the DVD. Also gotta love Blood Brothers, The Evil that Men Do, and Iron Maiden.

And what song was it where the guy from the crowd got up on stage and tapped I think it was Dave Murray on the shoulder and was thrown out? I laughed so hard at that.

Stevie 01-15-2005 01:25 PM

I feel Brucy did a much better version of both Clansman and Sign Of The Cross in Rio.

Did you guys know that Bruce is a trainspotter?

ashman 01-15-2005 02:34 PM

Yeah I know, Bruce is like the typical geek type guy...

IAJP 01-15-2005 02:38 PM

Ok thanks. I love The Duellists though. I was listening to Powerslave at my friend's house and I think the cd is great. That's why I asked about that one too.

IAJP 01-15-2005 02:52 PM

Is powerslave good?

ashman 01-15-2005 03:05 PM

Powerslave is good; Rime is the best song by far, an abosolute epic. Followed by Powerslave, then Aces High, then Losfer words (big 'orra).

IAJP 01-15-2005 03:08 PM

Oooh,
Rhyme Of The Ancient Marriner?
Bloody amazing song.
And yeah, the only word to describe that is "Epic"

ashman 01-15-2005 03:11 PM

I change my mind, not just epic....Bloody Epic :thumb:

IAJP 01-15-2005 03:13 PM

You know what?
I'm gonna honour Maiden by listening to it now!
:thumb:

Thunder Fingers 01-15-2005 03:25 PM

Rime is the esence of exelent epic Maiden songs, so 'kin sweet to play and listen to...

Flash of the Blade and 2 Minutes to Midnight as well!

IAJP 01-15-2005 03:29 PM

I'm listening to Dance Of Death now,
A pretty amazing album I think you'll agree.
And I got paschandale live...
OH MY GOD

Oh yeah, its an amazing album. Not as good as Brave New World, but amazing. Its a Maiden album, come on. Paschendale live... sick!

and whats a trainspotter?

IAJP 01-16-2005 08:00 AM

Meh I prefer DOD to BNW, allthough BNW has the wicker man on it (.)

Anyway, a trainspotter is someone who hangs around train stations and waits for trains to come in, then they identify the train.
Weird, I know :p.
Anyway, can someone recomend me a Maiden album, I'm a pretty seasoned listener.
I have:Iron Maiden,The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind, Brave New World and DOD.
I also have Rock In Rio..but..yeah.
Anyway, so any recomendations?

GurS 01-16-2005 08:12 AM

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son or Powerslave

IAJP 01-16-2005 08:21 AM

Seventh Son, has The Clairvoyant on it doesn't it?

scream_for_me_brazil 01-16-2005 08:46 AM

Aha! I have returned from out of the Beyond!!

Yes I think it has

IAJP 01-16-2005 08:52 AM

Amazing song that is.
I'm listening to C.O.B cover the Trooper now.
Thanks GurS :-/

scream_for_me_brazil 01-16-2005 09:02 AM

Lol joined in August 2004 and got a whole 11 posts!!

GurS 01-16-2005 09:39 AM

i remember you :/

anyway, what line from a maiden song is so amazing that it just sends shivers down your spine?
