FlyingPaul_83 09-24-2005 10:18 PM

What genre would you call these guys?

Apocalyptic Raids 09-24-2005 10:55 PM

Power Metal with harsh vocals

FlyingPaul_83 09-24-2005 11:01 PM

Thats exactly what I told this kid and he went off saying how they have absolutely no pwer metal influence at all, and that his vocals are pansy.

we were discussing Hatebreeder.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-24-2005 11:08 PM

Just eat him and be done with it.

PsychoticFlubber 09-25-2005 10:08 AM

Does anyone think there will ever be official tab books. I just wonder because Alexi had done videos, and has had columns in magazines where he himself shown everyone the correct way to play stuff... maybe he will make official tab books if he ever has time... well... I can only hope...

Quoted for truth. Every Bodom fan must know this.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 11:12 AM

Chokehold is really fun to play...Alexi Laiho is god.

Possibly, but I doubt it. They're just not popular at enough. It wouldn't be Alexi anyway - for those "official" tab books, it's not done by the artists themselves, it's done by other people who are paid to transcribe the band's music.

It's only true for like two albums anyways.

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 11:32 AM

what do u mean?

Shadows 09-25-2005 11:36 AM
It's only true for like two albums anyways.
Actually, it's true for all albums except AYDY.

Huber 09-25-2005 11:38 AM

You think so? I don't hear much Power Metal at all in the later releases, but meh. It all boils down to metal.

Follow the Reaper? That's their most Scandinavian power metal album ever. HCDR was a little less, but it was still definitely power metal.

IheartSP 09-25-2005 11:43 AM

I think Something Wild - FTR were all definately power metal albums. HCDR is debatable, there is certainly influence but not necesarily enough to call it powermetal.

Thor 09-25-2005 12:16 PM

I wouldn't call HCDR power metal, I think it's just generic metal. This also goes with their new album.

HCDR is power metal. It has stuff like Needled 24/7, and has tons of cheesy lead guitar and keyboard thrown everywhere into every song.

Well I guess you could say that was power metal, but the lyrics aren't fantasy based like Rhapsody.

Shadows 09-25-2005 12:30 PM

CoB never had cheesy lyrics, it was always the hilarious violence/aggression/hate stuff that gave them the "heavy metal in your face!" appearence.

flamesofbodom 09-25-2005 12:30 PM

The lyrics were never fantasy based. This band is about the music, which is certainly power metal

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 01:17 PM

Whatever they are they kick A s s, but i beleive they're Black/death metal instrumentally and black/power vocally. By the way rhapsody is really stupid.

IheartSP 09-25-2005 01:21 PM

Metallion666 expect to get banned soon unless you read the rules. That was a really dumb and uneducated post.

First off, you should have a mild understanding of genres. Besides Something Wild, there is no black metal in Bodom, and Something Wild only has small hints of it. Death Metal? That's just gotta be a joke, The vocals also have no power metal in them at all, I don't know what you think powermetal vocals are, but if you think that's what they are you are crazy, Rhapsody's vocals are powermetal vocals.

Second of all don't blatantly bash bands without backup. Whether you think Rhapsody is stupid or not your gonna sound dumb saying it like that.

Thor 09-25-2005 01:21 PM

Well that's not always the case, Iced Earth bases their songs around lyrics all of the time.

Horror Show was based around lryics, mind you.

AA-12 09-25-2005 01:23 PM
Black/death metal instrumentally and black/power vocally.
Just add in power metal and remove black in the instrumental part.
By the way rhapsody is really stupid.
Rhapsody > Most bands.

*irrelivance*

Am I the only Iced Earth fan who thinks Horror Show was like way better than the other albums? I've only heard two songs so maybe I can't judge, but I hate Barlows vocals on every album besides that one. On that album they are completely different, and I think much much more powerful. I've heard Wolf and Dracula which are two of the best songs I've ever heard by a powermetal band. No one ever seems to mention them though and always go on about A Question of Heaven or some song like that, which I am not too fond of.

metalhead_matt 09-25-2005 01:26 PM

sorry, but children of bodom are classed as power metal all the way in my book.

It's my second favorite.

Misfortunately, I've never heard any Iced Earth. :(

Im talking specifically about Bodom

Metallion#666 09-25-2005 02:22 PM

I really like iced earth, exept the glorious burden is really cheesy.
I know. I really like Iced earth, but the songs are about American history...=cheesy.
How is that cheesy? Have you taken a US History or Government class? American History is full of remarkable events. Most very heartfelt. Being serious and writing lyrics about that isn't cheesy.

flamesofbodom 09-25-2005 02:53 PM

Im amazingly sick of US History. Its way too repetitive, maybe b/c ive taken it for 9 years?

Moses 09-25-2005 02:59 PM

My AP US History class is taught by an animated right-wing genius. It keeps it really interesting.
