I'm looking for a quick, bright, cutting china. Like a small, less boomy version of the 18" AA, but brighter. Not Wuhan as I don't have anywhere nearby that stocks them.
Im looking for a 3rd splash. Something bright and cutting, with little to no sustain, for accenting and such. And also, O-zone sabian cymbals, how do these sound? Are they any good or just novelty
|
Clean Thread.
Basically, you describe the sound your looking for, and the other members will try their best to find a cymbal to match. example: Q:I want a crash that will stand up to live, unmiced metal, but not sound dead or unmusical. A:AAX Metal Crash Jim, if you could sticky this, and close the old one please? :thumb:
alright. found a 20" ZILDJIAN ZXT TITANIUM MEDIUM RIDE CYMBAL. im really bad wth zildjian sounds, but great with sabian ones. c you give me a ride that sounds as similar as you can get to that cymbal. thnks a lot. any extra info n the ride would be great too. :chug: thanks |

XS20 14" Rock Hats - $50 US
i currently found some rock hats for $50 US. i really like the sound of AA regulars 14" but dont have the cash for them. are these any good, and what sabian cymbal has a close sound to these hats. :chug:
|
Do they make a 7" though?
Yeah man. 7", 9", 11". I remember that being mentioned in an issue of MD. |
I personally like XS hats, quite a bit actually. I'd say go for it.

I have some, they arent too shabby. A bit clangy sounding when opened, but still pretty good hats |
They told me that wouldnt work.
that what wouldnt work |
A 20" AAXplosion would lose most of the qualities that made it an AAXplosion.
I tried to order one last year instead of my 19. |
ohh. i wonder how much difference the 18 and 19 really are from eachother. i would like to hear them side by side.
|
He asked for melodic.
How about 13" HHX Stage Hats or 14" Sig SEs or any sized Ufip Class-series hats?
|
Yeah man. 7", 9", 11". I remember that being mentioned in an issue of MD.
Ive seen n the 9 and 11 but nothing of the 7 yet. I did notice the new A Custom EFX crashes though. I might just have to try one of those! |
14" Paiste Alpha Power Hi-hat Cymbals
i currently these hats. how are they? if you can gimme sabian hats that sound the closest to these that be great. thanks. :chug:
|
How would you describe them? No two cymbal makes sounds the same, but there are similarities, so it's easiest to match to taste.

i know that no 2 cymbals will sound EXACTLY the same. i just wanna kno some sabain hats that have a similar sound and perform some-what the same. also, what type of music usually sounds well with these hats. what artists use these? |
Next buys
19" A Custom Crash 18" or 16" Oriental Trash What would be better as a main china? (Size) What should I get First? I have 14" A Mastersound Hi hats 19" Z Custom Med Crash 20" ZXT Med. Ride (2nd crash) 21" A Sweet Ride 14" Total ZXT China -Ant- |
Alphas in a Rock weight are pretty applicable to most. I'd say AAs or AAXs in Rock weights [heavier models] are worth checking out if your looking to upgrade. I can't think of too many that use them; I know Baby-Bruford [Bill Bruford's son] uses them with his work in The Infadels.
|
go with the 18" to offset the 14" china you currently have. also since you're using a 20" ride as a crash, you'll want to stick with the slightly darker, fuller sound of an 18"
