Anyone know a place where I could find a darkness descends tab? I looked on mxtabs, taborama, powertab and directtabs and came up empty...
I remember searching 3 or 4 years back, couldnt find any back then... Seems you might have to improvise and tab something out yourself... In other words, tab some DA so i can play them too. :D

FatalEnergy 10-20-2004 10:51 PM
Morbid Visions was their very first album actually

I kind of got turned off by the snare beat, but I haven't gotten used to that beat yet, although I should be able to tolerate it sooner or later. I strongly suggest Schizophrenia and/or Arise. Those are some good albums, although I haven't heard Beneath the Remains yet... x_x
I have all of the early albums, Morbid Visions was the last one for me to get, so I already knew what they sounded like, I guess I meant to say I prefer the "other" early Sep albums, get Beneath the Remains, my favorite one, and yeah I agree the drumming is quite annoying and the vocals are kind of annoying on MV

FatalEnergy 10-20-2004 10:52 PM

I got Eternal Nightmare, and man is it refreshing

JMetallica 10-21-2004 04:15 AM

Everything is Raw As **** on morbid visions. It may not appeal to everyone's taste, and i accept that. But... Do you enjoy the actual music on it? Envision it with the production that Schizophrenia had, being Heavy As ****.... In this case, I think you'd rate it up with it's successor.

What do you think?

Heh.. I heard there's no bass drum on Morbid Vision & Bestial devastation, cuz Igar hadn't learend how to use them yet :D

LordDargon 10-21-2004 08:57 AM

Anyone heard Devastation? They are supposed to be good. I'm going to check them out.

manuscriptreplica 10-21-2004 09:02 AM

I've heard Bestial Devastation.

Well, not really.

LordDargon 10-21-2004 09:07 AM

Get out.

Jamie FT 10-21-2004 09:14 AM

I finally have a Testament album, The new order and it kicks maximum arse, any other recommendations? I hear PWYP is great too

LordDargon 10-21-2004 09:17 AM

The Gathering.

TNO has a bunch of suckas.s songs. But it does have some classics as well.

Jamie FT 10-21-2004 09:23 AM

I'll see if I can get it, thanks for the info!

Morbid Visions was recorded with the guitars out of tune, unintentionally of course.
It's not my favourite Sepultura album but it's better than say, Roots and maybe Chaos A.D.
But i'll definitely agree with you that if it had better production it would have been awesome but i'm just glad that they remastered Troops of Doom on Schizophrenia.

The Legacy !!!!!!!!! There isnt a bad song on it

FatalEnergy 10-21-2004 08:39 PM

I got the first two Heathen albums

pretty cool stuff
Heh.. I heard there's no bass drum on Morbid Vision & Bestial devastation, cuz Igar hadn't learend how to use them yet :D
LOL! That's actually funny and sad at the same time XD

However, Igor is a wicked drummer. In my opinion, put him with Dave Lombardo and Ventor and they can pwn Lars (sorry Metallica fans). I feel that there were better drummers than just Lars.

Then again, I still like Metallica. :p

EDIT: FaceInTheSky, how are the Heathen albums? Do you recommend them?

LordDargon, have you checked out Devistation yet? (Do you recommend them as well?)

sacrifice93.2 10-21-2004 10:03 PM

Just heard Die Dead Enough by Megadeth. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. Is the rest of The System Has Failed just as good?

Apocalyptic Raids 10-22-2004 12:25 AM

ive only heard Kick The Chair, which is pretty **** good, but other than that im not sure...

ThrashMaster27 10-22-2004 12:47 AM

It's probably the best album since RiP, in my opinion anyway. Some songs are lacking inspiration, but for the most part the album is great. Back In The Day is my favourite track, but I'd steer clear of 'Of Mice And Men' it bores the crap out of me.

Yeah, Igor is ****ing insane. Esp on Arise (the song)

sacrifice93.2 10-22-2004 04:07 AM

The thing for me is that Dave Mustaine's lyrics for Die Dead Enough show the effects of human doubt very well. It's incredible how intelligent and inventive he is.

ANY thrash drummer with the tiniest shred of self-respect KNOWS that he can pretty much wipe his a.ss on Lars.

And, no, I couldn't find Devastation so I check out morbid saint instead, FU.CKING INCREDIBLE! You want an amazing thrash drummer, check out this guy's chops. His double bass speed gives Dave Lombardo nightmares. If you go to metal-archives and look them up, they have links to sites with mp3's. Get the song Crying for Death.

and Heathen are very good, I just don't like the vocals.

Yeah, but then again, Mustaine as (pretty much) always been a **** good lyricist, the only exceptions being KIMBABIG and half of Peace Sells
Igor is teh man. He has so much power and speed in his strokes.
Yeah, i agree, i've always felt that igor was/is a very underrated drummer and has been pushed to the sidelines by people like Ulrich and Jordison.

SLATANIC-666 10-22-2004 11:34 AM

In fact, a guy said to me the other week that he thought Lars was the best double bass drummer around, when i'd stopped laughing i put him out of his misery and informed him that he had only played double bass on a handful of songs, maybe less, i think in fact it was just one and if he ever did play double bass he certainly don't anymore.

LordDargon 10-22-2004 11:44 AM

He does it reasonably often. He just sucks at it. Here are songs that use it:

Battery
Damage Inc.
Fight Fire...
Dyers Eve
Ride the Lightning
One
Fade to Black
Leper Messiah
The Frayed Ends of Sanity

...off the top of my head, of course there's more. I don't know whether he did it on Metal Militia, or any song on KEA for that matter...

Wow, i didn't think that many but like you say, he sucks at it and it's not as apparent, except in 'one', as other drummers e.g. Charlie Benante, Dave Lombardo.

LordDargon 10-22-2004 11:51 AM

He even uses it in St. Wanker

Butchery of the sacred art of Double Bassing!

:-*

Whoa, that is shocking. It's just fvcking testament to how bad he is because i can usually hear it with most other double bass drummers but obviously, and it's not the 1st time it's been said, his drumming is just sub-standard.

yeah the Heathen stuff is pretty good :thumb:

FatalEnergy 10-22-2004 05:08 PM

Lars is probably the worst thrash drummer out there, I cant name anyone who sucks more

LordDargon 10-22-2004 05:26 PM

Heathen remind me of early Exodus (on Breaking the Silence at least) and they would be com-friggin-pletely awesome if it wasn't for that "anvil-sittin-on-my-balls" vocalist.

Lars = teh suck. end of story.

****ing spammer.

As for the lars discussion. No, he's nothing special, but he doesnt come accross as a lacking skills, atleast as far as metallica are concerned. His drumming is rather simplistic, but he does it well. If that makes sense? :p
