I just got around to hearing Wyclef Jean - Sweetest Girl. This song is so good. One of my favorites right now.

Yeh it's a sweet song. The rest of the album is pretty solid too :)

StreetlightRock 02-06-2008 03:03 PM

Thanks fellas, ill look into some of the stuff you guys mentioned!
Are any of you guys into Z-Ro?
Holy **** how have you heard about him? He is HUGE around here. At my school I've gotten into arguments over whether he was up there with Biggie and Tupac or not. I've always given him ****, but he has his moments, he can be a great emcee sometimes but most of his beats blow like all the other Houston rap that's around here. The way he organizes his discography is confusing as hell, makes it really inaccessible for fans to find his good material. I'd say he's the best emcee/lyricist in Houston though.

That's crazy, I didn't know anyone in here knew about Z-Ro, I thought he was strictly a Houston phenomenon. It's weird to think anyone outside of Houston would know about him, especially in Michigan he's right down the street from me.

I'm not a huge fan of the rest yet. It's good though.

I dig Z-Ro, but I'm a Texas man, and lived in Houston

ATM 02-06-2008 10:55 PM

I don't remember where I heard about him originally.

I only have Let the Truth Be Told but it rules.

edit: holy ****, I thought the headline on Sputnik news said "Guru dies"
I edit: holy ****, I thought the headline on Sputnik news said "Guru dies"
That would be way sadder because Guru is awesome.

Iai 02-07-2008 07:15 AM

Yeah, but he's responsible for some of the worst guest appearances ever. He doesn't sound like he gives a **** about any music that isn't all his.

sgrevs 02-07-2008 07:43 AM

I don't recall hearing any. Examples?

ATM 02-07-2008 09:01 AM

Yeah I am curious as well. He just raps with that laid back style.

Iai 02-07-2008 09:15 AM

"Worst Comes To Worst" by Dilated Peoples is the worst offender. He almost de-rails the whole song. I think he puts in basically the worst spot on Kaos by Adam F as well, which is pretty lame when you consider both Beenie Man and Lil' Mo are on that album.

ATM 02-07-2008 09:17 AM

I didn't really like that album much anyhow. The Platform is where it's at.

Iai 02-07-2008 09:38 AM

I dunno, Expansion Team is a little inconsistent but I really like most of the stuff on there. The Platform seems a little subdued in comparison for me.

I got into Platform right when I was getting into underground hip hop, so I'll probably always have a preference for it.

Iai 02-07-2008 04:43 PM

Same for me and Expansion Team, actually.

ATM 02-07-2008 10:31 PM

I didn't even realize they released an album last year. Did you hear it?

MusicPolice 02-08-2008 12:47 PM

Snoop Dogg ROCKS my world!!

I can't wait for Snoop Doggs new album to come out!!! I went to his Bud bowl block party in AZ last week and it was AWESOME!! He's f*ing amazing!! He got the whole crowd screaming and singing and everything! SOO good!

Has anyone else ever seen him in concert?

Jaded 02-08-2008 05:57 PM
Hey what are some similar artists to Dr. Octagon and Deltron 3030? Them and a couple of other acts are about about some of the only rap I listen to and I love the weird beats they got going with them.

Also, artists like Spank Rock, just really funky, almost electro beats mixed in with rapping and such.
Check out El-P produced stuff like Cannibal Ox and Company Flow, as well as EL-P's solo stuff.

gmoneyguy 02-08-2008 09:23 PM

The only El-P I've heard is his performance on Aesop Rock's We're Famous any suggestions on an album to start with?

Zmev 02-09-2008 03:27 AM

Fantastic Damage for sure. Its a really dense and rewarding listen. Also get down with his collab with Prefuse 73 and Ghostface Killah. Heres a video with it playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrpMKKO2e6E

ATM 02-09-2008 07:27 PM

2nding Fantastic Damage.

Cool album.

DanD 02-09-2008 08:18 PM

I have whatever El-P's newest one is, and I didn't like it very much at all.

negrodamus 02-09-2008 09:32 PM

Yeah, it's not very good.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-09-2008 09:33 PM

I should check out El-P.

Buttloaves 02-10-2008 12:24 AM

I can't stand Lil' Wayne. That is all.

40 oz 2 freedom 02-10-2008 12:26 AM

you crazy ^

AA-12 02-10-2008 12:29 AM

Yeah, lil' wayne rules

Buttloaves 02-10-2008 12:42 AM

I am not a fan.
