what would be suitable (preferably from the sabian line) replacements for; paiste signature sound edge hh, paiste singature full crash, paiste singature power crash, and yes i know they are completly different types of cymbals, but what are the closest sounding cymbals iu can get (again, preferably from the sabian line, but zildjian ok too)
???

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 12:11 AM

Hmm...my HHX groove ride is pretty light, but PERFECTLY light i'd say...it's got a monsterous crash, and it's more open than a lot of rides...you don't have to destroy it to get a great crash sound. Darker than the A customs, though...the ping stands it's ground no matter how much wash builds up...hence the design being a ride for rhythmic music such as funk, but the ping for everything needing ping. If you wanna stay in the A line, I'd go with the A medium or Medium thin....

Maybe this will persuade you :)

dude are u nuts those signatures are like god

terry_bozzio_wanna_be 06-04-2006 01:30 PM

yes, but they are also very expensive

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 01:44 PM

Bozzio, lemme say from a guy who was looking into buying a sig crash (I decided otherwise) that the bosphorus gold full crash is the turkish paiste sig. It'll cut through any music, and it's got a great brilliant finish. I decided on the darker agop med. thin, but if you really want the paiste sound with the versatility that it doesn't have, go with the bos golds. Tony from cymbalsonly said pretty much the same thing.

There isn't really much of an equivalent to the sigs in the zildjian or sabian line, truthfully.

We_Love_Lime 06-04-2006 02:15 PM

That's cuz Bosphorus is uhh

Incredible!?

terry_bozzio_wanna_be 06-04-2006 03:43 PM

CasB 06-04-2006 03:45 PM

terry_bozzio_wanna_be 06-04-2006 04:21 PM

how bout a place for paiste cheap?

(nothing agains bosphorous, just keeping my options open)(also thanks for the link casb)

terry_bozzio_wanna_be 06-04-2006 06:00 PM

i want a set of three paiste sig crashes in the 16"-18" range that sound good together, i am open to advice

(how does a 16 full, 17 power, and 18 power sound together?)

Icky_Mettle 06-04-2006 06:21 PM

The cheapest you can get paiste sigs would be about $196, $217 and $237 for those sizes...bosphorus golds would save you around $30-40 on each, but if you gotta have cymbals, you gotta have em.

terry_bozzio_wanna_be 06-05-2006 12:13 AM

where could i find paiste sigs at that price?

Bub 06-05-2006 02:44 PM

Hey guys I'm looking for some new Hi hats. I'm willing to pay pretty much any amount within reason, at the high end section. Looking for a sound I'll never tire of, good for Metal, but not exclusive to. I can try out some Rudes at my local store, but other than that, my local stores lack selection a bit.
Anything I should be made aware of? Would it be worth buying some Paiste Dark Crisp Sigs online? I've only heard them in the sound library on paiste's site, and on an Anthrax song..but recording and in person are pretty different.

Just general advice to a first time hi hat buyer would be great! :thumb:

Mmm....those hats sound awesome from the site samples, so I'd definately go for them. If you want something else in the sig line, check out the sig sound edges for fun.

Plus Switzerland is like crazily expensive anyway. I spent £10 ($19) on drumsticks there.

And its not in Euros, its in Swiss Francs.

enishi 06-07-2006 06:13 AM

195$ paragon ride = good?

Icky_Mettle 06-07-2006 05:31 PM

Depends, it will probably have less wash and more ping.

Quinto 06-07-2006 05:44 PM

chewaz 06-07-2006 08:17 PM
