Needs less **** and more quality.
Agreed. In my opinion, I don't think you need to step outside of the first 3 albums much for the heaviest songs. |
AJFA has crappy production. One of the biggest thrash bands around the late 80's should have better production than that.
i really don't see(or more to the point, hear) a problem with AJFA's production. i can hear it all clear and crisp, im confused. though there is a sound to the album, for example in the solos its dynamic effect is strange, along wit the rest of the parts. but i like that; i think it was deliberate.
Your list needs to be something like this 1. The Phantom Lord 2. Disposable Heros 3. Dyers Eve 4. Creeping Death 5. Frayed ends of Sanity 6. Master of Puppets 7. Wherever I may Roam 8. For Whom the Bell Tolls 9. Damage Incorporated.
nah, that's just the early stuff, they did much more heavy stuf. and alot of that^^ in your list is more purely thrashy than heavy. |
I think the early songs are the heaviest, just the production lets them down. If they had production quality like Load/Reload, they would sound much heavier.

I like the sound on the older albums for some reason.
|
it kind of gives it more feel... reminds you of what they were like before they hit big money.
|
The old albums would sound like shit with their 90's production.
|
The production on St. Anger makes it sound much heavier, I love that album to bits. Is it just me or does Kirk's soloing tone sound more like a flute? You get this amazingly heavy song, then you get this flute playing the same happy merry melodies at the end of it.
|
Just a quick question, who contributed towards the making of kill em all, kirk hammet or dave mustaine? like when was mustaine kicked out of metallica, and did he contribute towards any of their songs?

Dave helped write most of the songs, but he was kicked out before they started to record Kill 'Em All. So basically all the solos started out they way Dave wrote them and then Kirk wrote his own stuff. So like the beginnings of solos are the same as if Dave were to play them but the rest were Kirks. Dave also wrote most of the riffs with James; Kirk really isn't part of writing the riffs and such until RTL. |
both of them had a good input, but i only know that Four Horsemen was practically written my Mustaine.
|
yeh .. except for the solo in the middle.

That's Kirk's magical wah pedal, he can't put it down. |
This thread should be called "Metallica, Inc.", not "Metallica Inc."
|
Meh, I'm happy with the title.
|
^^ Thanks for that
both of them had a good input, but i only know that Four Horsemen was practically written my Mustaine.
I burst of out laughing when i heard four horsemen, its an identical inferior version of mechanix!
|
I have to say I preffered 'Tallica's version over Megadeth's even though I like Megadeth much more.
|
Mechanix is way better.
|
I just don't like they lyrics to it and my favourite part of TFHM is the slow bit and the first solo, which Mechanix doesn't have.
|
Megadeths lyrics IMO are alot better than 'tallicas.
|
They're both pretty absurd, if you ask me. They're still both fun to sing along to.
|
i like the version of The 4 Horsemen on Live Shít way more than the studio version.

I actually agree with you on this. |

hehe, that's a first in here. |
Yeh ... In mechanix Mustaine seems to be rushig through it.
|
Mind you, Mustaine is always rushing :)

James changed the lyrics. The Mechanix is The Four Horsemen. Except: The Four Horsemen >>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>> The Mechanix. |
James also changed the lyrics to Jump in the Fire..... First the lyrics were about getting laid and high.
