Wow, thanks. I thought I was total crap. (I'm not being humble, i'm being honest.)

One thing I KNOW you'll own me in though (as if sucking wasn't enough for me): Ryhthm. I'm TERRIBLE, I have no sense of time/rythm whatsoever.
No way, that was quite impressive, as we've said. I wish I could yousendit my songs with actual instruments: the only thing I could do would be MIDI, which sounds like crap. But whatev. My song's almost finished: I'd be honored to have you folks listen to it when finished, especially Ramsey.

Ramsey 03-04-2005 01:10 AM
Well, despite your superior skill I guess I'd be up for the contest anyway, just for shits. But yeah, your tone was great and the playing was damn good as well.
Thanks for the kind comments man, I appreciate them. :)

opeth_oasis 03-04-2005 01:10 AM

Enjoy. Its kinda boring, so, uh, sorry.
Sounded good dude, you have some potential to be pretty freakin' good at the guitar.

Only thing you need to work on really...is your bends and make sure you are bending it to the right note...

Same. Any man who has the desire to pick up a guitar, whether they suck or not, has my respect for at least trying. I wish I could post my 1776 cover again for Lucas to hear.

I'd love to hear anything you folks would put up. It's always nice to actually get some proof that people here can play.

Really? So you don't consider it "whoring"?

/this is the green light to post up another track :D

Yeah man, I know. I don't know anything about theory, and well, I have no timing too. So meh.

I'm working on them though.

/this is the green light to post up another track :D
It's not whoring if all you want is recognition for your talents. Especially if what you're putting up is a composition, I wouldn't refer to that as whoring. After all, if you put up something you wrote and recorded, you run the same risk as everyone else that people will hate it. Since you have no assurance that people will lavish you with praise, it is a humble request for appreciation rather than a "look at how good I am!" fest. Especially here: it's hard to impress me, personally speaking, and I'm sure it's even harder to impress some of the other people on the site. Therefore, what you're doing is certainly not whoring. :)

Theory can be incredibly helpful in assisting you to express yourself. I think it gets way too much of a bad rap, and ironically never from people that actually use it. I would say better to have it and choose not to use it, rather than to choose to be ignorant to its benefits because of some "soloing stinks" asshat and suck as a result.

Yea, just thought I would throw it out.

Just the note you want to bend to, go to the step up note wise and play that note. Then bend the note you want until you hit that same sound...

Just keep doing it as practice, and you will get a ear for when a bend sounds right and such...

No, no, no. Definitely post it! I want to hear. I'm positive I won't think it sucks. :thumb:

What is you people's opinion on the lack of the rep system?

WOW. I'll be a happy guitarist when I can play like that, I'm serious man. Hey, if you're ever bored try learning the second solo in CoB - Sixpounder. If I here someone else play that it will give me great motivation to learn it myself.

That was better I think. Not a big fan of the drums, but the playing stayed cooler and more in key, and the tone was amazing. I've never been able to get something like that out of my POD. I suffer from knob-envy, I think: everyone knows how to turn theirs to get a sweet sound, but I never can, or when I do, I forget. :upset:

Well, thanks, it was a decent cover, but there's nothing technical about the song at all. Despite me not being great, that song doesn't show the skills I have.

You have a POD? WTF! Post recordings ASAP!

Yeah I thought this was better. And thank you about the tone.

I can post the tone i'm using, if you like?

Heres one more track I recorded the other day:

HA!

You are better than you think. You think i'm good? I'M GARBAGE. THIS fucker can't even stay in time, and you think your bad? Come on man. I thought it OWNED. Just post it.

Riva 03-04-2005 01:38 AM

Wow! I was just cleaning some cabinets around the house, and I saw my mum's old CD collection. Looking through it, I saw tons of great albums, like Beach Boys, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, JJ Cale, Chuck Berry and Tom Waits. I'm ripping them to my comp as I type.

Cain 03-04-2005 01:39 AM

All right, while we're doing this, I think I'll post the songs I wrote for my college app CD. The production is bad on the electric one, and there are minor errors on the acoustic one, but the songs are cool. I'll post better versions someday. I'm just curious though: can I have some instruction on how to use yousendit?
