No, what is "their music"

That's how you phrased it.

Stew: Hit harder.

Ohh. Well it's my best friend and she listed a couple of songs that she wants to put on, and one song was by green day, another was white & nerdy. I forget what the other two were. I got to choose 4 and mine were. A Fragile Corellation - Westbound Departure, Dear Sergio - Catch 22, Sink, Florida, Sink - Against Me!, and Goodbye to Boston - Smoke of Fire.

I play pretty fuckin' hard man.

Or at least when I'm playing hard stuff.

Related but not related..I've developed a system for rating drum solos.

Love: It's passionate. It's really being done good, and with meaning, you know the guy seriously loves his drums.

Sex: Fast, Hard and just fuckin' sweet.

Rape: This is neither good for those watching, or those being raped (The drums) the only person who gets anything out of this, is the drummer. It's just terrible and gross, and it's illegal, so fuck off and stop doing it.

And yeah, that's my system lol.

It's a funny song, but it's a lot better with the video, and our teacher would probably be lost.

TheBigMachine 11-28-2006 09:12 PM

The video is very funny. So i got sent home for dacking someone. My best friend got sent home for breaking someones nose.

Yeah.

I just don't break sticks.

I've broken one I guess..But that was trying to break it, and I couldn't do it after like an hour of playing with an already worn out stick..so I cut it half way through.

BridgeToSolace 11-28-2006 09:13 PM

We actually broke a stick in half a week or two ago. It wasn't particularly old, too.

We could make a bonfire with all the broken sticks and **** that are lying around my basement, though.

What is the most common mistake that causes broken sticks? Playing open?

PDWAB 11-28-2006 09:13 PM

I have never broken a stick, guitar or bass string. I have broken the head on my snare drum though... 'cept that was about 30 years old so I guess that's not much of a stretch.

In other news yay it snowed! I love snow! Imagine this:

http://www.washington.edu/students/ugrad/scholar/students/images/quad.jpg

covered in snow with like a billion students having a HUGE snowball fight. It was awesome!

Eliminator 11-28-2006 09:15 PM

The video is hilarious. I'm one of the few nerdy enough to get all of the jokes too i think :(

Jon: Playing open is not a mistake. He probably plays with too much arm, incorrect grip or incorrect technique striking.

Joel: You don't play set though, right?

PS: Only heads I ever broke were bass drums =(

Eliminator 11-28-2006 09:17 PM

says the canadian

BridgeToSolace 11-28-2006 09:17 PM

I've never broken an acoustic string before, and I've been hounding the same acoustic for three years. And I play the crap out of it.

The strings are incredibly dull now, though.

I've played set for like four years, I just haven't played as much since I got to college.

 It's Joel, my Vibes hero!

Man..I pwn with Vibes now lol.

I'm actually (In my opinion) pretty good with all Percussion stuff, aside from Snare and Drum Set.

Those I'm iffy in, especially snare.
oic.

Because Joel is a gentle man.

He doesn't make music with the drums, he makes love to the instrument.
Jon: Playing open is not a mistake. He probably plays with too much arm, incorrect grip or incorrect technique striking.
Considering he's self taught, probably all of the above.

I just realized yesterday that I could do a standard quarter-note-hi-hat
whole note alternating snare/bass drum. Me friends have been trying to teach me drums for weeks (so that we would all be interchangeable), but I could never even do that much. I have such white boy rhythm.

TheBigMachine 11-28-2006 09:22 PM

You dont rim shot to often. And when I do, I use the lowest part of the stick I can manage, because apart from rim shots it gets less traffic, but that's probably drastically wrong.

You use the shoulder of the stick, where it's begun to get thicker when your playing splashed/open hats, instead of the part just below the tip. And dont go to hard on it either, that's the thing with hats, they're loud things especially when miced. You dont really need to hit 'em too hard.

Eliminator 11-28-2006 09:22 PM

quads are the most annoying ****ing instruments in existence

seriously

weirdo

stew: set4lyfe

jon: the holes are small and i mean joel is white...but i don't think he's that tiny

tbm: rimshotting every back beat isn't uncommon actually

either way though, they wear down the stick eventually...metal is harder than wood and one of them has to give

TheBigMachine 11-28-2006 09:27 PM

*mitch.
Or tbm, but Mitch prefferably...

Well yeah, that's the truth, but people who do that, professionals or otherwise, break their sticks after a while. It's like you said, wood's softer than metal. Actual you said it the other way round but whatever.

DJ Ducksauce 11-28-2006 10:32 PM

We might actually get weather around 38F(3.33C) on Thursday.

It's been 70-80F(21-27C)ish all week and humid the last 2 days. :-\

I did conversions for you weirdos out there on Metric scale. :p

MattSharpIsCool 11-28-2006 10:34 PM

Its supposed to be 21 degrees (FARENHEIT) tonight. I have no clue what that is in celsius, so figure it out yourselves.

DJ Ducksauce 11-28-2006 10:40 PM

That would be -6.1111...C.

Yay for scientific calculators that do conversions for you.

I hope we actually have a cold winter this year.

Last year there was maybe a week of cold weather and then we were back in the 70s wtf.
