Wow, sounds like you had some fools at your school. We had several girls walking around my school last year (a private Catholic school even) and I could only imagine why someone would be stupid enough to do that. I don't really think high school kids should be having sex anyway, but that's a different story.

I don't have a problem with people doing whatever they want so long as they're being responsible.

The reason why I'm not the biggest advocate for teen sex/alcohol use/drug use amongst teens is because more often than not, people abuse them or as stupid about them.

Teen sex story: see my story about stopped-taking-BC-pill girl.

Alcohol/Drugs: See: this thread

I mean, if people are safe about it, then I don't care, it's their lives. I just choose not to do it.

It's just that, every time I read the newspaper, the headlines are always, "Drunk Driving Accident Kills Family of Five" or "Stoned Teen Accidentally Shoots Friend" instead of something with a more positive connotation.

Being me, I encourage the following:

1. If you're going to drink or do drugs, have a plan about how you're going to get home. I told my friends and roommates this year that I'd drive them if they needed to get picked up.

I would rather have them get home safe than try to get behind the wheel and harm themselves or someone innocent.

2. Being educated about sex. This really isn't hard, since schools do a fine enough job with the whole biological part about that, but they don't really delve into the psychological.

3. To be safe rather than sorry. Yes, it's clichéd, but oh well :)

When ever me and my friends have alcohol about and plan on drinking it, we make sure every ones car keys are locked up before the alcohol comes out. And every one stays there until the morning after every one has sobered up.

Not that hard to be responsible, but I guess alot of people think it's "uncool" to do so.

100% true on the safe and sorry part.

That's a smart thing to do. Unfortunately, I go to a school where the entire point of drinking is to get drunk, throw up, have sex, and pass out. Getting extremely high on drugs before doing this is also encouraged. :( I fucking hate my town sometimes. Everyone my age is completely retarded.

I love having friends that drink/do drugs very little/never.
I love having friends that drink/do drugs very little/never.
Well I like kind of the opposite. Most of my friends don't drink or smoke and some do a lot so it's nice because I'm kind of in the middle. I'd never smoke or do drugs but I like drinking (not to get drunk though. I don't understand people that get drunk at concerts. Don't you want to remember the show???)

Cain 10-20-2005 07:51 PM

I have a drink to chill now and then, but I hate the environment of parties and so I never get drunk, because that's where everyone does.

I get really uncomfortable being in a really uninhibited environment with people that I don't know (and girls who, if I were really drunk, probably wouldn't have to work very hard to convince me to cheat on my girlfriend). So I just don't see the point in it.

Not that I don't have a good relationship, BTW, it's just that I'm male. And horny much of the time.

I know what you mean. I don't drink with my drinking friends at all because they'll try and get me drunk. The most I've had is a drink or two, nowhere near drunk. I've only had drinks with my girlfriend (champange on New Years with my family) or at home with no one else over. But I know what you mean, with you drunk and other girls drunk it happens.

Some of mine. My bassist just went to college and one night he was like "ahh, vodka." I figured, but I was a little shocked because he had never been drunk in his life.

I despise Vodka and pretty much try to avoid it. Actually I haven't gone near it in about two years. JD, on the other hand, I can drink by the gulp.

I've actually never had JD. My mom is a wine person and my dad is a beer person. My mom has a bottle of Skyy and I don't really like vodka either
What about when you say, "I don't really mind the taste of most hard liquor"?
Not a big deal. It's when you're able to consider taste an irrelevent consideration when pondering the potential enjoyment of a certain drink that points to an irrationally overriding desire (or need, depending on how good your social life is) to get drunk, at least in my experience.

I was just kidding about the "ur an alcolic" thing. But the people I know who say things like that tend to be rather high consumers of alcoholic beverages.

magicbus 10-20-2005 08:24 PM

As far as hard liquor goes, I'm still getting used to vodka and whiskey, Southern Comfort is pretty good, and I really like tequila (tastes the best I think).

Vodka certainly is not the softest of hard liqour.

40-60% alcohol by volume is not soft, especially when it has no real flavor to cover it up. Pretty much grain alcohol and potatoe flavored water is no a nice taste.

But Everclear is by far the worst tasting alcohol.

And I prefer hard liqour straight out of the bottle, no mixing and no chasers.

The only pot-related stories I've seen in the newspaper have been about the FBI relaxing its standards on past marijuana use by prospective agents.
