Indeed. This thread has been lacking lately, this convo has restored my faith.

You're such a bogot Anthony.

Tyler 02-07-2010 11:56 PM

The thread is flowing like it used to because I've yet to see one csb or 'chat is up' post. Not really a coincidence.
um no this is so wrong. youre pretty much saying that there are no successful ******s except rappers and athletes. im 100% positive that theres tons of black people who have good jobs and would say 'who dat' instead of 'who is that' when hanging out with their friends.
Ok but not all black peopel are ******s.

There are tons of black people that can speak well, even with there friends. Granted I have only anecdotal evidence, but still. I mean look at our first black president. What does he sound like?

Also take note that I'm not being racist, because I also am aware of a lot of white people who make a complete mockery of the english language, both with friends and in papers or a classroom etc... They do it way beyond regional dialects. I can fully understand people pronouncing things weird because thats just what happens when you grow up in different parts of the country.

But when you just make up words and use them like its proper english then I don't think people are going to take you to seriously.
like if i wasnt going into medical field, i would be all over the same **** you are, but i am drug tested and im a slightly confuzzled sea lion when it comes to acid and hallucinogens. i ****ing love the idea of DMT, but it smells not so good tastes probably worse and only lasts for like 10min. if anything i would do the ancient tribal drugs like Ayuahsca or peyote since at least that will be less recreational and more finding my inner self or whatever that is
1) the level of recreation all depends on what you intend to get out of it. I've done peyote (well, mescaline, same dif) and it was just as recreational as anything else I've done. Granted, I did learn a lot of things such as the lack of concreteness in the concept of "time" but I've learned similarly deep things from other drugs.

2) Ayhuasca is pretty much DMT only ingested orally and it has some other ingredients but nothing particularly psychoactive.

3) 10 minutes on DMT is more than enough time. It feels like a like a lifetime and a half, believe me.

4) The concept of finding your inner self through drugs is somewhat a farce in a way. People don't find themselves because of the actual drugs they're doing per se, but through the general process of having an entirely different perception of life. This can happen through drugs as seemingly non-psychoactive as tobacco, or just through going through an entirely non-drug related event that triggers something in your mind. It all depends on mindset.
i like non-trashy black people that speak decent english and are friendly and dont think that the government owes them for being former slaves even though thats like 300 years old

I have to say, I feel a similar way about aboriginals.

It's more to do with personality traits than race though.
I believe with the advent of acid we discovered new way to think and it had to
do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's
so evil? What is it about it that there is scares people so deeply? Because they
are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That
there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in
there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they
don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.
He's losing his mind, and feels it going!
Different. Kids is a perfectly acceptable word that's considered less formal than children. Who dat completely mangles a phrase and ignores American convention on use of either a verb or contraction in addition to grossly misspelling that.

Since you're not misspelling anything with kids nor are you ignoring the fact there needs to be a verb in there, there's nothing wrong with using kids.
i mean besides that i really dont see how ebonics is "making up words", unless you consider "dey" a "made-up word"

really "dey" is just altering the spelling to match the pronunciation

and don't most people always complain about how confusing english spelling is?

I'm not talking about words like "dey", because that is a pronunciation. But when I hear things like "dey is"... well thats a bit different. Is "dey are" really that hard?

jive talk is awesome

blaxploitation films would not be as entertaining as they are with formal english
