If you could send me the demo and new album at some point, I'd really appreciate it. If not, don't worry about it.

ATTN: Brian

Hometown:
Orange County, CA

Genre:
I’d classify them as Nu-Metal or Post-Hardcore, but I’m sure people would disagree.

Similar Artists:
To be totally honest, I’ve never heard another band like them. The singer is very distinct and very different. Musically maybe riff based bands like mewithoutyou or System of a Down.

Members:
Andrew Schwab, Randy Torres, Steve Dail, Alex Albert

Discography:
1998 Project 86
2000 Drawing Black Lines
2002 Truthless Heroes
2004 Songs to Burn Your Bridges By
2005 And the Rest Will Follow

Description:
I first found these guys on a CD sampler about 4 years ago full of “hard Christian music” with such bands as Blindside and P.O.D. back when neither were popular. These guys were the only band to get 2 tracks on the CD, that right there said something. They’re definitely above a lot of acts in my mind, though they haven’t found the recognition for it yet.

Trying to describe their music is quite difficult. I guess you take a very unique screamer/singer, place those vocals over riff based music in the vein of Nu-Metal and Post-Hardcore bands, and you have them. None of their releases are bad really, but their best is probably Drawing Black Lines. Of course I have 4/5 albums on slsk if you’re interested after hearing the stuff in the links.

The thing that will probably make or break this band for you is the Andrew’s vocals, because even as good as the music is, the Andrew is what makes them stand out.

Okay, thanks a lot Vince. I'll have the thread up in like 45 minutes.

Any idea for a thread title?

Mute Print 10-23-2005 12:02 AM

Well, I've finished writing my description, now I just need to come up with a title for the thread...

I'm thinking something simple like "Expanding Your Tastes #1: Set It Straight / Project 86"

Sounds good, having the band names in the title is a good idea.

Mute Print 10-23-2005 12:05 AM

Okay, then I'll have it up in a minute.

My description seems kind of weak, but I'm not much good at relaying how a band sounds. Overall it looks awesome though.

Actually I better make sure it's 24 hours first :-\

EDIT: I can't find out and I don't want to call...oh well, only a mile away :-\

KingOfSka 10-23-2005 12:17 AM

Okay I'm too lazy to check the reccomendation thread, if pop-punk even has one that is, and I need you guys to reccomend me some bands.

I've been getting into pop-punk more and more lately. I like some Blink 182, MxPx, The Descendants, The Queers, Down By Law, and NoFX. Can you guys reccomend me half a dozen or so bands that I might like?

Thanks.

Mute Print 10-23-2005 12:18 AM

Thanks Vince.

I was reading through your raps in the pit. They were pretty sweet.

Excursions 10-23-2005 12:20 AM

The Dickies
The Vandals
The Bleeders
Bigwig
Fenix TX
Swingin Utters

I like this new idea, about expanding people's music tastes.

I do too. Unfortunately most people so far are seemingly only looking at Brian's band :(

Haha, no offence, but Set It Straight are better than Project 86. Project 86 are still good though.

Oh well, I've got plenty of bands to bring in still :D

Set It Straight are good if you like really fast hardcore.

We should introduce some thrash into this forum.

Thrash like Punk Thrash or Metal Thrash?

Angry Balled Fists! 10-23-2005 03:39 AM

Morning all, not usre what i'm going to do today, i might play football with my mates...

Kif 10-23-2005 03:39 AM

Quake 4 is on 17%, which I think is decent considering the amount of crappy seeds and people leeching off of what I already have. Today I got:

VA - Nintendo Fusion Tour Sampler
Slipknot - 9.0 Live

I'm getting the Senses Fail reissue now, just for the bonus stuff really. Also there's a new Head Automatica demo out apparently, so I'll see about that. Then it's back on Shaeraza to get some more of Quake

Oh I watched the rest of Lost yesterday up until last weeks episode, and I'm a little disappointed with the season at the moment. Still, soon someone's gonna die so that should be interesting

Angry Balled Fists! 10-23-2005 03:46 AM

wow, you downalod whore...

Baseball is so stupid, i was watching it live on C5 last night (first game of the world series) and it has the corny music, corny singer doing national anthem, tons of advertisments and all the players looks so funny

Big match today, Newcastle - Sunderland.

Oh, and American Dad made me laugh more than Family Guy last night.

chumpradio 10-23-2005 01:53 PM

Woooooow, the site is no longer dead.
Sup everyone?

Untitled 10-23-2005 01:59 PM

Sup chris, im bored.

chumpradio 10-23-2005 02:02 PM

I am also relatively bored.
My bass is definately coming tomorrow though, and band practice at the night time. :D Then I'm staying over at this girls house with a few other mates, so it should be a great day.

Bad Blood 10-23-2005 02:03 PM

I went to a ice hockey last night  and their were 3 fights in the last 15 seconds. It was awesome.

And as I was walking around at the intervals, the coach came upto me and told me I should be training with the under 19s on the ice! He didn't realise how old i was. And i've never played ice hockey in my life. It's for the Nottingham Panthers too, they're like 2nd in the league, they're amazing.
