dyers eve probably is

but it still wouldnt call it a hard solo

Joe 05-04-2006 05:30 PM

Creeping Death is not the hardest solo. There's one part that's tough but Kirk has some 2+ minute solos (like RTL) that aren't necessarily totally difficult but tough to memorize.

MRDuCran 05-04-2006 06:59 PM

The shortest straw is pretty tricky.

Stormrider 05-04-2006 08:07 PM

Creeping Death still remains one of my favorite Metallica songs.

Yeah I can play it with the tab but I normally forget the slower bits to it.

The Shortest Straw is one of my favorite solos....i like how it sounds.

Kreator2112 05-05-2006 11:57 AM

I hate people who say Metallica sucks just because of St. Anger. Have they forgotten about the first 4 Metallica albums?

Sadbutrue16 05-05-2006 12:02 PM

I like St. Anger also. It's different than the other albums but still good. Think of it this way. If someone else came out with St. Anger and it wasn't Metallica people would love it. They don't like it because they compare it to Metallica's early albums. I like the album I just wish it had a better snare and solos.

yeah, i love kirk's sound throughout the whole album.

i havn't heard too many people say that, luckily. i just don't likethe idea of young ears hearing metallica and not liking it because of their current style, with the amazing stuff behind them.

what first four albums?
You mean Load, Reload and Garage Inc? That's only three.

Sadbutrue16 05-05-2006 12:24 PM

I think he ment KEA,RTL,MoP,and AJFA.
/shrug

I feel exactly the same way. There was this kid in college the other day saying "ugh, have Metallica ever written a good song?", obviously I ignored it 'cause he is an emo, drop C rules his life.

Jev 05-05-2006 12:46 PM

Yeah, I know that :p

Rattlehead 05-05-2006 12:49 PM

lol i was close to putting something like that, but then i knew you knew Metallica better than that.

Enlighten Me 05-05-2006 01:01 PM

Hey, KEA RTL MOP AJFA were the best material they ever wrote.. but i still see the black album as one of their best aswell, just not quite up there.

Rattlehead 05-05-2006 02:11 PM

absolutely, i love Black Album.

Joe 05-05-2006 02:30 PM
Yeah, I know that :p
There was supposed to be some sort of joke in there but I don't get it...

Would someone mind sending me the Metallica show from November when they opened for the stones? I deleted the wrong folder and all my shows are gone. I can get most back, but not the illegal ones...
joe.mxmail@gmail.com Thanks!!

So what's new in Metallica world? Any more shows I should be excited about?

timmySmi 05-05-2006 03:26 PM
absolutely, i love Black Album.
Hell yeah I have huge sentimental value for that album. God I just get the chill's from the growl Jason gets from his Spector bass.

Enlighten Me 05-05-2006 03:31 PM

I love how the drums sound on the black album the snare is like *BOOM*

Mother 05-05-2006 05:13 PM

Yeah, Even on Garage INC ... the drums Just sounded Awsome at times.

Soul_Under_Arrest 05-05-2006 05:21 PM

Personally I've never really liked the Black album. That's pretty much the only album I don't listen to or all the way through.

Kickflip_Burrito 05-05-2006 05:43 PM
Personally I've never really liked the Black album. That's pretty much the only album I don't listen to or all the way through.
I was like that when I first heard it but now I really appreciate songs like The God That Failed, Of Wolf And Man and My Friend of Misery.

pep 05-05-2006 09:28 PM

Ive never payed too much attention ti the black album or AJFA. I just hold on to RTL and MOP. Those two are my favorites.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:30 PM

Listen to AJFA

:p

It's probably my favorite Metallica album.

pep 05-05-2006 09:34 PM

IŽll give it a try. Ive listened to One though, and I liked it. But I just love the guitar solos on RTL.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:37 PM

AJFA has my favorite rythm tone though...I really like it. And it's IMO where James was at his best with the vocals.

NP Opeth - In Mist She Was Standing

Apocalyptic Raids 05-05-2006 09:47 PM

AJFA has some filler though.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:52 PM

Which songs do you consider filler ?

I'm just curious, I honestly havn't listened to the album in a while.

playguitar 05-05-2006 11:44 PM

I think Shortest Straw is a filler, and Eye of the Beholder too. They're good songs, just not up to the usual bar Metallica set back in the day.
