Hard to say. Benefit is more straight forward in terms of rock and probably easier to get into because of that. Stand Up incorporates more genres and styles into the songs and probably takes a few listens to get into. I'd probably recommend Benefit first.
Wow, why?
Because I've already sold my soul to rock 'n' roll.

Yeah, I'd also reccomend Benefit.

By requesting a name change in Jim's name change thread in the site forum.

What's the deal with Thick as A Brick? From one article I read they made it seem like it was just the Song TAAB and it took up the whole album

It is just one 45 minute song.

WelcomeToTheMachine 12-06-2005 04:43 PM

Amazing song, good concept( even though it wasnt a serious concept) i prefer Stand Up, just because i like that type of Tull more, i dont know if you have A Passion Play, if you dont get that after TAAB

Benefit is really good...Son, WIth You There to Help Me, and of course Teacher are all really good....

Jacaranda 12-06-2005 05:33 PM

Benefit for sure, it has Teacher.

/constructive post.

OMG TOMMY THRED READ NOW

It's long, and it took me a while to write and it'd be nice if someone would read it.

Krabsworth 12-06-2005 06:07 PM

Anyone want The Yardbirds Greatest Hits Volume 1? I know it is a greatest hits, but the songs are all very good, and there is 18 of them.

Nice I'll read it now. I really like Stand Up but I don't have Benefit so I can't compare them.

Brought back my old Lennon avatar for the week.

Thanks for the rep Lunch.

Heh, I though it looked like Chris Robinson for The Black Crowes.

I prefer Stand Up over Benefit and plus, it has Bouree.

Well I don't have Badmoon's connections so it's news to me. I have heard rumors that he will tour in 2006 though, so a new album would make sense. I hope he tours, I'd love to see him live.
No, it's not that it's old news. I just don't really care. :p
Oh I see how it is:p

I have Gilmour's first solo album, and to be honest, I'm a huge Gilmour fan but it's just not very good. Definitely not bad, but it doesn't compare to his Floyd stuff. If the new album is true, I'll definitely buy it but I won't have huge expectations for it. I'm just really excited because it means he'll probably tour. I really, really want to see him live.

thickasabrick 12-06-2005 07:18 PM

I prefer Stand Up.

The Gilmour album will probably be a decent album, but disappointing to a lot of Floyd fans because it won't be Floydish at all. That's my prediction. It would be awesome to see him tour though.

I just listened to Love and Theft, I think it's a great album despite his voice being so wrecked.

edit - I would like The Yardbirds album, Krabsworth.

Too bad Gilmour won't tour through Regina. :p

But honestly that's sweet news, I can't wait for the tour!

Email, or AIM?

is Realaudio format alright? If not I'll convert to mp3 tonight and get it to you tomorrow

jpj 12-06-2005 07:58 PM

Yea, they said on the radio that he would do a tour also.

So which one of you guys wants to send me some Talking Heads?
Too bad Gilmour won't tour through Regina.
Does matter, me and my friends will go anywhere to see him...what group of potheads would turn down a roadtrip to see a David Gilmour concert? One of my friends actually has a saving fund for plane tickets to see the Pink Floyd reunion tour. And yes, he is aware that there is no reunion tour. He's said he's just playing it safe, just in case there ever is one.
Email, or AIM?

I would prefer email. back_in_black256@hotmail.com I'm not sure about Realaudio, I don't think I've ever tried using it. If it isn't a hassle converting to mp3, then I wouldn't mind that....but I don't wanna be a drag, especially if Realaudio actually does work. Thanks.

I know a kid you used to live in Regina. And we make fun of him, becuase, well, the word Regina is funny.

Regardless, i've never been to much of a Floyd fan, but i'm greatly anticipating a David Gilmour solo album, seeing as he's one of my favs on the guitar.
