Feel The Darkness 01-15-2008 11:31 PM
Do you know your guitarist's setup?
haha, dude our whole setup is nothing.

our entire recording set-up was:
cheap drumset
hartke 120w practice bass amp
practice guitar amp (not sure the brand/wattage)
Shure 8track recorder
16 channel mixer
one low noise/one class a fet condenser mics

that's it. we DI'd both amps to the board, along w/ the drum mics (low noise/class a/bass drum). then 2 outputs to recorder, and back to the board for playback through small PA.

our drummer doesn't have his own drumset. our guitarist only has a cheap guitar and a 15w practice amp. i only have my bass and amp. our singer lets us practice in the shed in his backyard.

haha

DIY!

hahaha, naw. our drummer's a music major, and has a damn good ear. he's the one who was working our sound, mostly, so he did with what he could. haha

this is his other music:

BuddyBigsby 01-31-2008 02:57 AM

yo reiner, where are you going to be in australia?

Let's Chop Cats! 01-31-2008 03:04 AM

Sydney

BuddyBigsby 01-31-2008 03:06 AM

ah. my prospect is brisbane. i was doing some myspace research to see if there's any decent bands out there... not looking good.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-31-2008 03:20 AM

My original plan was Brisbane, my friend is going there though. I talked to a kid on B9 briefly, there are some bands but obvious not on our level. That Madball/Death before Dishonor tour is going through there in a month or so, I'll probably go even though I'm not a big fan of ether.

BuddyBigsby 01-31-2008 03:29 AM

Yeah its basically metalcore bands and some goofy youth crew imitations. I found one really good pvish band but they're in Perth. I guess if I end up there I'll just have to wait for American or Euro bands to come through.

santi3hg 01-31-2008 01:36 PM

Yo Scottt take hardcore to them. Be immortalized as a hero...

whiteminority 01-31-2008 02:49 PM

Hey Scott since your friends with the Judas guys maybe you can help me on something, my buddy Nick picked me up a copy of their tape when he saw them at TIFY and I was wondering if it's a demo or just a tape version of the 7".

BuddyBigsby 01-31-2008 03:06 PM

Then he bought it from me. Consider that tape blessed by the hands of god.

Its a tape version of the 7", and I didn't even get a copy but apparently it sounds a lot better than the actual vinyl.

whiteminority 02-01-2008 07:12 AM

It's good sound quality that's for sure.

I didn't get a 7" because the dude who runs 16oh, Jeff, never sent my **** and said he sent it twice and stopped replying to emails about it.
This pissed me off.

Robbert 02-01-2008 07:55 AM

hi everybody!

Can someone help me out? I was wondering if you could suggest me some hardcore bands. I like the metalcore-stuff like converge and botch, but I'm not really educated in modern hardcore.

Things i've heard and kinda liked:

Where Eagles Dare
Comeback kid
Donnybrook!
Blood for Blood

What I didn't like about (especially) blood for blood and donnybrook was the whole "I'm-a-friggin-hooligan,-wanna-fight?"-thingy, but I liked the music.

So, I'm open for suggestions.
(If this is the wrong thread for this, all apologies)

you could check out some of the 90's metalcore/hardcore before moving to more modern stuff.

check out:
Deadguy
Rorschach
Trial
Strife
Buried Alive

or even stuff like:
Integrity
Ringworm
Despair
Slugfest

i just woke up, so this is just off the top of my head.

you can find most of those bands on myspace or youtube.

****, you should see the exchange I had with him. I finally got my record a couple days ago after saying he would send it a month before that, and only then because I bitched him out and called him on all his ****. So many kids came up to us on tour and told us they hadn't gotten their record either. Don't ever support that label in the future.

FYI though there is a couple on RevHQ. And if you email him and just bitch him out you will see results, be it refund or him sending you a 16oh care package with your 7".

whiteminority 02-01-2008 03:06 PM

I bitched him for seriously 2 months. I don't care anymore. The tape is good enough.

I would want one of those Find Him and Kill Him records though.

Which band from Perth did you like Scott?

BuddyBigsby 02-02-2008 12:43 PM

Extortion. And actually I found a couple solid bands in Sydney too.
