Well my dad loves Cream, so maybe I can convince him to take me.

I've been watching VH1 Classic so much lately, cool channel.

My dad is a huge Clapton fan, so you never know.

How far is MA(or where ever your from) away from NY?

ATM 07-14-2005 08:50 AM

I'm from Maryland, I'm just staying in MA for a week.

It would probably be about a 4-6 hour drive.

Probably the same for me, altough I'd have to cross the border which would take awhile but I do have an Aunt who lives in NY so things may work out.

*This concert is even confirmed yet, it may not happen

I learned how to play Knockin On Heaven's Door on the piano \m/
I learned how to play Knockin On Heaven's Door on the piano \m/
Like with chords?

The only chord I know is C :( , but I can read piano music.

ATM 07-14-2005 09:43 AM

Yea, I learned the chords. It's fun to play.

My dad is such a sell out. He didn't even get excited when I told him about Cream, and he said that it would be to hard to make it to the show.

My mom seriously changed him.

brettberry 07-14-2005 09:56 AM

I learned how to play knockin on heavens door a few years back, hey try to play it a half step lower than usual it sounds a little better. That applys to any instrument

Against Miik! 07-14-2005 09:57 AM

GnR played it a half step lower, but it sounds good in any key. Throw a capo on the 4th or 5th fret and it sounds good to.

ATM 07-14-2005 09:57 AM

Hmm..I'll give that a try.

jpj 07-14-2005 10:02 AM

All tickets for the Royal Albert Hall shows were $350 and you had to buy them in pairs. So, the cheapest you'll get away with is $700, IF they do it like they did in London.

magicbus 07-14-2005 11:20 AM

I really like "Blonde On Blonde". I usually don't discuss Bob Dylan in here, because I never really listened to him. I started listening to this album today, and I like it a lot.

I also have "Blood On The Tracks" and his self-titled, but "BOB" stood out to me, probably from the one time I listened to it a while ago.

GnR's version of that song was terrible.

jpj 07-14-2005 11:27 AM

God, I heard their version of Live and Let Die on the radio yesterday. It was good until Axl started singing, he has to have the most annoying voice in rock.

 I don't know how jokingly to take that. It's fun learning stuff like that on the piano, I can't wait until I'm done learning riders on the storm.

ya, his voice just doesn't work for alot of songs, it works better for their originals than it does for covers. I don't like live and let die though. It sounds like two completely different songs, one good and one bad that have been mashed together. Yet he seems to always play it live.

jpj 07-14-2005 11:30 AM

I love Live and Let Die, I think the contrast between the two parts is what makes it so good. I think the same about Layla, though most hate the slow part at the end.

Against Miik! 07-14-2005 11:31 AM

The slow part at the end is the best part.

The difference is layla's slow part fits with the song, the transition was done well and no part of the song is actually bad. In live and let die it's as if he's trying to disguise shitty songwriting with "creativity".

In a way that's what happened to my dad, because he won't want to spend a lot of money. My mom didn't ruin him though because she is pretty cool and would probably want to go to the Cream show.

You're lucky my mom isn't cool. I mean really if she were my age I would have nothing to do with her. The worst is when she sings along to songs. I don't hate her or anything but I wouldn't hang around with her if she went to school with me.

Lunch 07-14-2005 12:10 PM

Well my mom isn't "cool" but she likes classic rock along with my dad. She might support a Cream concert fund.

RockAndRoll 07-14-2005 12:14 PM
Well my mom isn't "cool" but she likes classic rock along with my dad. She might support a Cream concert fund.
my mom doesn't actually like classic rock, but she likes what ever ends up on the radio, and considering me, my brother and my dad all like classic rock she ends up 'liking' it and singing along, which is terrible I'd rather she just not like it.

Well my dad isn't really that cool either, but you can tell he used to be, and I'd bet if he went to school with me we'd share a few joints.

Lunch 07-14-2005 12:17 PM

My dad is pretty cool, we talk about music all the time. He also used to drum.

jpj 07-14-2005 12:40 PM

My daddy is stronger than your daddy.

Canadian-Guy 07-14-2005 12:48 PM

They should fight
GnR's version of that song was terrible.
Never let a hair-metal band cover a folk song :(

Anyway, my mom is a huuuuuge Clapton fan. If they came to Vancouver, I'm sure she'd be willing to put SOMETHING forward.

Lunch 07-14-2005 12:51 PM

My dad is a blackbelt now, and he also used to wrestle. Bring it on!
