That would be their Swan Song record label logo. Where it originated from, I dont know...
I think it's a depiction of Icarus, but I have no idea why they'd want their label to be represented by Icarus.
Sadly I wasn't very impressed with Buddy Guy's new album
Is that the album where he and Robert Randolph team up to butcher "Lay Lady Lay"? Or am I thinking of someone else's album?

robo2448 12-02-2005 08:31 PM
Amen to that. He was great.

np: Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy In New York
I love that song. It might be my favorite Simon and Garfunkel song. Probably one of their most underrated and overlooked too. Beautiful song.

I like the Woody Guithrie cd but have only had a chance to listen to it once. Good stuff though.

thickasabrick 12-02-2005 08:42 PM

Yeah I've been listening to a fair amount of Guthrie lately too....actually it's really only been about the average amount, but that's still more than most bands/artists.

Broken Arrow 12-02-2005 08:43 PM

I'm listening to Derek and the Dominoes now. Crossroads live, I like the slowed down version.

MBS 12-02-2005 08:50 PM

So, what's better, Beck-ola or Truth?

Badmoon 12-02-2005 08:58 PM

I'm not for this Grateful Dead thread.

I always thought they were best discussed here.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-02-2005 08:59 PM

Agreed^
and there are others who he doesnt EASILY beat like robert cray, doyle bramhall II, john mayer, robert randolph, johnny lang, and such.
Robert Randolph + Robert Clay >>>> Eric Clapton (EASILY)

What the hell is so great about Clapton?!? BB's even worse!

Yeah, I just replied because I was bored. Of course, we do it the best :D

I've been on a blues binge like crazy.

robo2448 12-02-2005 09:03 PM
So, what's better, Beck-ola or Truth?
Don't have Beck-ola but Truth has been growing on me. I always liked Beck's guitar work on it but Rod Stewart's vocals kind of turned me away from it. I'm getting used to Stewart's voice though and I like the album a lot more now. Good stuff.

I agree about the Grateful Dead thread too, but I did already post in it. I doubt the thread will stay alive that long anyway.

I really like Truth, but I haven't listened to Beck-Ola enough to judge so I wouldn't know.

I like your location. My teacher put that on in painting class yesterday, it was so calming. I was talking to these girls in class, and suddenly they were like "Wait, who is this?" I gladly told them that it was classic soul.

Illmatic 12-02-2005 09:33 PM

I really like Otis Redding, what can I say?

I've only counted half of them up...I'll try to get some of it done tonight. If I can that is.....:(

temporary 12-02-2005 10:13 PM

Can anybody give me a link conferming the Jefferson Airplane tour? I will be seriously happy if the really tour.

Krabsworth 12-02-2005 10:30 PM

Did Tom Petty get an operation on his vocal cords to sound like Bob Dylan? I think I heard that somewhere...

I can imagine the operation now

Doctor: Okay, are the vocal cords exposed?
Seond Doctor: Yeah
Doctor: Okay put the smoke machine in there.

Take your time mine. I'm not trying to rush you, I was just looking for an update.

So this Warriors game is badass. I'm just going around and trashing stuff. My favorite thing to do is probably mug a hobo and then throw him through a phone booth :naughty:

MBS 12-02-2005 11:37 PM

Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt is so incredibly good.

Johnny Cash, the "Man in Black", the king of outlaw Country singers got arrested for picking flowers on private property. I think that's one of the only times that he'd ever got arrested too.

He's still the most badass Country singer ever though. :)

It says Tom Constanted is playing with them, now I really want to go :( I can't find anywhere where it says the exact line up though.

Anybody wanna sign up for the second edition of my bootleg email? i have a fresh new batch waiting to be downloaded

Jacaranda 12-03-2005 04:36 PM

Wait, when did exactly did Link Wray die? I just found out about this today I'm really slow at getting death news.

Woodstock 12-03-2005 04:50 PM

I knew he was dead, I just never knew when. I'd really like a compilation by him, he was a very innovative guitarist.

I just bought:

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - East/West
Love - Forever Changes

Awesomeness.

WelcomeToTheMachine 12-03-2005 04:54 PM

Forever Changes is such an amazing album

PinkFreud 12-03-2005 06:46 PM

sorry about the double post a few pages back. mx is be lame for me.

black sabbath is amazing.

clapton is amazing. he's my favorite blues player, i just dont think he's uncontested. joe bonamassa is like, blues shred. its awesome.

zabbit82 12-03-2005 07:32 PM

I love Clapton's stuff. 461 Ocean Boulevard is an amazing album, really laid back but I really like it. Me and Mr. Johnson is a pretty good blues album.

I'm still trying to find Derek and the Dominoes "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" album... :upset:

Seafroggys 12-03-2005 07:34 PM

Yay, a Sabbath fan! Masters of Reality is gold, but Heaven and Hell is god-like. Dio is amazing (just voted for him in the poll, actually.) Vol. 4 doesn't get enough credit either, in my opinion.

I think his Bluesbreakers and Cream albums are where all the praise comes from.

Oh, and when I saw this quote, I totally thought of your hate towards Led Zeppelin:
"a good composer never borrows ideas, he steals them" - Igor Stravinsky

Watch out, someone has a different opinion than you.

I don't think most people can explain why they like something and you don't. That's how different personalities work.
