You're watching the original version and not that shit director's cut with all the space footage, right?

Yield 06-23-2007 12:51 PM

I want Live In Pompeii, the videos of the interviews I've seen are hilarious.

Danger Bird 06-23-2007 12:59 PM

I think every performance is on Youtube, at least they used to be.

Yield 06-23-2007 01:05 PM

I've probably stumbled upon them sometime. Pink Floyd was insane live.

Leper 06-23-2007 01:54 PM

4 days until I see Roger!:D

The director's cut has the interviews.

That space stuff is pretty retarded though.

yeah i am, i heard the directors cut is real bad.

Riva 06-23-2007 07:07 PM

It's not bad, just different.

And if you have it on DVD, you can choose which version you watch, which is good.

rippa32 06-23-2007 07:39 PM

Really? You'd think that would take a lot of DVD space. Magic of modern tech I suppose :thumb:

Leper 06-23-2007 10:55 PM

The space stuff is kinda cool..just kind of pointless too.

Wyko 06-24-2007 10:03 AM

Just got Live at Pompeii too. Only saw first part of Echoes and Careful With That Axe Eugene yet but I like it so far. Though the editing is at times pretty annoying.

Leper 06-24-2007 01:39 PM

I don't think they possibly could've picked a better song-list for Live at Pompeii.

MattSharpIsCool 06-24-2007 09:20 PM

It's just too bad they lost all the footage for the one song, I can't remember which one, but they lost everything except for footage of Nick playing drums. So it's like an 8 minute video of Nick.

That's with One of These Days. It's kinda funny to see him loose his drumstick though :).

AnyColour74 06-25-2007 08:48 AM

Live At Pompeii is such a cool DVD. Basically every song is gold.
4 days until I see Roger!
I saw him a few weeks ago, man what a show. You're in for a good time.

I've heard nothing but good things about the show he puts on. 2 days left! I can't wait!!!

Wyko 06-26-2007 11:31 AM

Oh, and on the subject of Live At Pompeii

Danger Bird 06-26-2007 11:48 AM

Hahahaha that's awesome.

MattSharpIsCool 06-26-2007 07:00 PM

Haha that's an awesome video.

I like how the speakers even say "Pink Floyd - London" on them.

Leper 06-27-2007 04:53 PM

I'll be seeing Roger in about 2 hours from now . Gonna get hiiiiiigh tonight.

Quinn The Eskimo 06-27-2007 07:48 PM

I got Roger tickets for July 2 at Summerfest.

Leper 06-27-2007 11:29 PM

Wow...what a great show.

Roger is a much better showman than I expected. He carries himself so well on stage, I honestly didn't know he was that good. Great show though. I can't really remember the order of the set-list (surprise surprise) but really I had no complaints. Great show by a true professional.

MattSharpIsCool 06-28-2007 12:06 AM

I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy Roger's show. Of course I'd love the music he played, but as an entertainer, I don't know if I like him so much. When I go to a concert, I'd like to see a band play music, not walk around on stage acting out songs.

That being said, I'd still give a toe if I could see him live.

Actually he does play most of his songs. Maybe I misunderstood you but I get the impression that you think he just stands there and sings or something? :P I dunno, but there is in fact a whole band up there as well as him playing everything. The only exception is when he performs a couple songs off of The Final Cut or his solo stuff, but the bulk majority of the show is Pink Floyd material and he plays during all of it.

MattSharpIsCool 06-28-2007 08:57 PM

Ok I stated that badly. Maybe it's just he performs The Wall, but there are some songs where he acts scenes out. Like the hotel room scene, and the doctor scene. It's probably just when he plays The Wall, though.

Like I said. I would still love to see him.

(I'd like to see David more though :p)

samariah 07-01-2007 11:19 PM

honestly, early pink floyd is otherworldly when your in an alternative state of mind

Leper 07-02-2007 07:11 PM

Remember a Day ftw!

samariah 07-03-2007 06:02 PM
Remember a Day ftw!
yup :thumb:

Danger Bird 07-03-2007 07:04 PM

Careful With That Axe, Eugene is my favorite Floyd song ever.

Good to see some people discussing the early stuff from before Pink Floyd became an arena rock band.

MattSharpIsCool 07-03-2007 09:04 PM

WYWH is pretty arena rock-ish, but I don't see where any of their other post-Meddle albums are arena rock.

Danger Bird 07-03-2007 09:30 PM

Learning to Fly.

MattSharpIsCool 07-03-2007 09:42 PM

I wasn't thinking about stuff after Roger left, but ok that works. Floyd definitely got a little poppier with David at the helm.

Leper 07-03-2007 10:11 PM

I wouldn't call later Floyd arena-rock at all. It definitely became less spacy but it's not like they made a The Who type transformation.

MattSharpIsCool 07-03-2007 10:53 PM

When I think arena rock I think Journey and Boston.

I wouldn't say Pink Floyd fits in with those two bands.

You are so lucky. I almost saw him last september, he played the entire DSoTM for his second set. I couldnt afford tickets though :(

Leper 07-03-2007 11:16 PM

Yeah he's still playing Darkside for the second set. On the Run was ****ing crazy!

GenuineImitation 07-03-2007 11:27 PM
Yeah he's still playing Darkside for the second set. On the Run was ****ing crazy!
Yeah, I could imagine. I would kill to see Time and Brain Damage/Eclipse live

Leper 07-03-2007 11:31 PM

I had Time stuck in my head the entire day after. The guitarist with Roger nailed the solo perfectly. Absolutely flawless.

samariah 07-03-2007 11:55 PM

i love earlier floyd, its pretty much all the floyd i listen to. but i absolutely love it.

my favorite songs:

Interstellar Overdrive
Julia Dream
Stoned Alone (although its not quite a whole song)
Astronimy Domine
Let There Be More Light
Jugband Blues
Fat Old Sun

MattSharpIsCool 07-04-2007 12:01 AM

Atom Heart Mother is starting to grow on me.

Fat Old Sun is now one of my favorite Floyd songs.

The other two "solo" songs on the album are awesome, too.
