I like writing, but suck at english because of those frikkin scientific forms they got it down to. I dont have a problem with grammatics, thesis statements, attention grabbers and all the other stuff, but i dont think it should be strictly graded for those. Why cant your own writing be unique?
The trick is to make it unique while remaining in the guidelines. What I can't stand is when they give writing prompts which are very limiting on creativity. What makes it worse is the prompts are usually very stupid. For example, 'Write about a time you were anxious..' or something. Those make me want to stab someone.

Wow. I haven't posted in a while, been having fun with my new myspace.com account.

i fell asleep in my english mock, got woken up by the teacher and told him to bugger off, before going back to sleep. not a good idea.

No, I'd think not. I'm not rude to my teachers, I just don't pay attention sometimes. I think all of my teachers like me, though I don't care for my gym/study hall teacher. He's just kinda.. annoying.

Josh 04-27-2005 02:49 PM

i probably wouldn't have said it any other time, just as i was half asleep i wasn't really thinking very well. at least he wasn't actually my class teacher, just one of the other teachers who was invigilating the exam.

Cain 04-27-2005 04:06 PM

Good afternoon, all. I've been working harder than a slave the past few days, but I'm done with one of two conference papers and my short story on which my Fiction class' final grade depends. Now I have two weeks to spread out the other one. :thumb:

Joe 04-27-2005 04:11 PM
Thanks. Next year I'm taking 4 or 5 APs, including Calc. Thats not going to be cool.
My g/f is doing the uber-hardcore IB program next year, which means an extra period a day, having to have all IB classes. including electives, which is basically spanish and theatre. It's all AP level too. What's worse is her schedule is different than mine, so I'll never see her, until the end of school :(

Illmatic 04-27-2005 04:20 PM

I took exactly zero AP classes in high school even though I was smart enough to take a few.

Underachievers, unite.

I'm taking Honors Pre-Calc, which is easily harder than the 2(3 counting Art) APs that I take. I noticed that I never had to devote my life to these classes or anything and can still get that extra point on my weighted GPA.

My number one qualm with AP classes is that in my high school at least, they were no different from the honors classes (of which I was in a bunch), except for that you did more [busy]work.

I was in honors English and Social Studies/History courses all four years of high school and I was in honors Chem in my junior year. That's it for me.

I didn't take any AP classes either. And only one honors class. I was a true slacker.

Could anyone (Illmatic?) help me with the name and artist of a song?

It's an early 90s hip hop song, and is basically about two kids who decide to start robbing people, but end up robbing an undercover policeman by accident, and all kinds of bad things happen. A "what a waste of life" kind of angle, I think.

I ask because I have a semi-cover of it which I really like, and I'd like to be able to identify the original.

I took 11 and some college courses...over achievers...anyone? :upset:

So I'm starting RMOTM in a few days, my concert thread lacks success, effort in pop-punk is lacking. Oy I'm in a bad mood.

Wasn't that in the late 80's?

But yeah it's right.

Illmatic 04-27-2005 05:49 PM

ATM and Efil beat me to it.

And Efil is right: it came out in his 1988 debut "The Great Adventures of Slick Rick"

I really like your concert thread. It's a good idea, man.

I'm just mad because Deep Purple isn't coming to my area.

Distant Echoes 04-27-2005 06:23 PM

Deep Purple is totally covering every town around Philly. its 2 1/2 hour drive any direction to were their touring, and im having a hard time finding anybody who wants to go that far

Illmatic 04-27-2005 06:33 PM

If I can get tickets I probably will.

Also, being the odd sort of contrarian person I am, I have to say that Aquemini is the best Outkast album.
