man, i got braces last year, so my music teacher was like, hows about movin to a bigger mouthpiece, say tuba, so he tried me out, said it'd be easy and so i said sure it'll be a fun challenge....half way thru summer i realized i'm not gonna waste my time learning tube. So i gotta go in, tell him i'm not playing tuba, and that my trumpet playing is coming along fantastically (even tho i haven't played yet, and its probably atrocious), then kindly ask him if he would like a bass player. The kid who plays in our band SUCKS, my god, hes on my hockey team, hes like 13 and has a full beard, no joke hes huge, but he SUCKS at bass, one of those 'i can play iron man 100000X on my 1000$ bass kids'. Yup, wish me luck, lord knows who'll win if theres a tryout, unless he asks us to sightread something.......need help reading music, anyone?

Yeah I'm going to try out for band...

Problem is, I'm in middle school. The band teacher is really annoying, and will most likely make me start at beginning band (This note is called E.), so I have to try out. I think I'm going to do a Stuart Hamm medley.

I doubt they'll give you a choice, most band stuff i went through they give you a song. But who knows, yeah next year i'm on to high school, i wish i'd started bass earlier, so i wouldn't have to listen to the dam bearded boy play smoke on the water every jazz class (i can play it better on trumpet!!!)

I'm going into grade 9 band in hopes of being able to play bass (I'm grade 10). But at this school we got our first bass player last year and that was with a different music teacher then I will have. So I'm crossing my fingers hoping he'll let me play bass for band. Oh and to help things out alot, would reading music for bass be the same notes as the top four strings of a guitar? (I know I know I dont know how to read music so I have no chance at this)

would be bottom 4 of guitar... i think they're the same, but different clef, bass clef is lower end, treble higher.

I'm currently writing my first complete song (2 guitars, bass, and drum machine) ... I might have it done and on my website tonight. It's soundnig pretty cool IMO

Well... that is a pretty good reason to get a job at a donut place. But wouldn't you have to get to work at some absurd hour in the morning in order to make donuts? You'd probably smell pretty good though after work. That might help with the ladies... you know... if you show up smelling like icing and sprinkles and jelly filling.

Jam is the stuff that has the real fruit bits in it. Jelly is the stuff that just TASTES like fruit (ala grape jelly... you know, I've never actually seen a purple grape in my life, they're always red or green... where are the purple grapes that they use for grape jelly?).

Red grapes can look purple. Or maybe it's just us lucky enough to be color blind that see that? Meh... My favorite was when my grandma would make pomegranite jam. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The best.

OMG, I love pomegranates. My mom went on one of her walks about a month ago and found a Juneberry bush- think blueberries, but mellower and more flavorful. She made the most incredible pie...

And I remember going to pick chokecherries with my Grandma when I was little, and helping her make chokecherry jam. Ooo, my mouth is watering...

See, here in Southern California, if you see berries on a bush, you don't eat them, because 9 times out of 10 they're poisonous. Yay desert!


My moms friend had a pomegranate tree in her back yard. My friend and I had a pomegranite war, and our clothes were ruined for-ev-er. My mom was so pissed at me, haha. Yeah, sthat stuff never comes out. It stained our skin too, for a day or two.

I just got back from a pub, and the cover band didn't have a bass. I saw the singer with an electric and was like, oh yeah. THen i looked over to check out the bass.... and.... it was an acoustic!!!!!!!!1

Anyone caught what was going on with TabCrawler? There were some threads in there about spamattacking MX, so me and 3074326 made TabCrawler accounts and reported it to the TC mods. The TC mods threatened to ban any TC member caught spamming MX (and in return we promised to help track down some MX members who appear to be spamming TC). However there was some complaint from TC members.

So it was left at that grumbling conclusion.

However, now TabCrawler has been hacked down to the ground. The whole thing has been deleted, and many key members banned. TC admins and such are hot on the trail of the culprit, and apparently Interpol have been involved.

Unfortunately, due to the extremely bad timing of this, we are bound to take some blame. One member (a particularly despicable character called LickinChickin, who was openly hostile to 307 and I when we were being perfectly reasonable) is convinced it was us.

It's amazing how much can go on online. It may come to nothing, but keep eyes open!
