Cool, good to know you're in hehe. Won't the quality be better going straight in, instead of through a mic? or would you go line in off your amp?

Huber 04-05-2005 11:58 AM

Guitars sound confusing.

dont worry. i will

IvortheEngineDriver 04-05-2005 01:12 PM

I'm trying to get my band to play Crawl Away and Undertow, but our drummer sucks. You think its good to do those songs and not have a drummer that does the same as Danny Carey?

I'm kinda perplexed. I love Tool more than anything and we can't do any Tool songs because our drummer sucks...I'm not sure what to do...suggestions?

the2stranger 04-05-2005 01:14 PM

wow, this moves fast.
playing all the instrumental parts ok, is a chalenge, but to find anyone with a voice like MJK,, that ain't gonna happen methinks

Huber 04-05-2005 01:16 PM

Let him add his own style to it. Make the cover your own.

The JoZ 04-05-2005 01:30 PM

Those songs aren't even that hard, as far as Danny's drumming goes.

Try getting him to do Aenima, or Third Eye, or The Grudge.

The Grudge Solo is a work of art.

Best 31 seconds of music IMO.

freaks_refuge 04-05-2005 02:22 PM

Iapologise if you've already covered this topic but I don't have time to read through the last 20 pages of this thread as I'm late for work.
Has everyone heard the alice in chains bootlegs with maynard singing?? They're on toolshed
What did everyone think of em? I thought they were ****in ace but then again tool and aic are my 2 fave bands....

TheSubtleArts 04-05-2005 02:57 PM

i heard them, they were great, he did the best on Man in the Box i thought. some of the other singers on Rooster werent so good IMO, but MJK was great

Kage 04-05-2005 02:59 PM

New rule: All newbs who come in here MUST read all 200+ pages before posting. :thumb:

I heard them, it was cool but I'm not a very big AIC fan, so it was average for me. Someone put up the videos a few pages back, not sure if the links will still be available though.

Shadius 04-05-2005 03:00 PM

I've been away for a while from these forums, got a new computer and junk, but I just want to say:

ROFL@Maynard.

You'd think a lot of fans would realise that Tool fucks with us, especially when a new album's about to be released. Anyone think that it's possible the album will actually be released EARLY to suprise fans even more?

clearvision 04-05-2005 03:06 PM

^Erm, no? It's not gnna just be sprung on us, Kabir/Blair will no and tell us a release date about a month or two in advance..

NP : Peach - Giving birth to a stone :)

Because they're so reliable, arn't they. Haha.

I'm not doubting you're probably right, but an early release along with this prank would be cool.

clearvision 04-05-2005 03:17 PM

Well Blair is a good friend of the band. And Kabir is a dedicated fan, whom maynard is in contact with.

Shadius 04-05-2005 03:23 PM
Well Blair is a good friend of the band. And Kabir is a dedicated fan, whom maynard is in contact with.
This I know.

Off topic, does anyone know any secret areas on the Tool website? You know? Like the http://www.toolband.com/secrets/renne/main.html thing? I found that ages ago randomly, and it made me wonder if there was anything else hidden on the Tool website. Sorry if it's already been covered.

+zero+ 04-05-2005 04:12 PM

whens the new tool cd come out.. i heard like the end of this year but **** i dont know

+zero+ 04-05-2005 04:15 PM

oh and about the drums thing ide suggest playing some of tools older stuff cuz it was alot more basic yet still very hard. but there newer stuff is like drum solos left and right.if he gets good enough he should be able to play undertow eventually

+zero+ 04-05-2005 04:18 PM
Let him add his own style to it. Make the cover your own.
i would definitely in my opinion go against what you said there. it pisses me off cuz the most popular band in our town is a cover band and doesnt play half the stuff rite .. and its basic stuff like green day blink 182 etc. so i mean if tehres a fill you cant figure its one thing but just completely making up the whole song, i shake my head at that one.

clearvision 04-05-2005 04:20 PM

Doesn't a solo mean the whole music focusing on the drummer? I don't think that happens much. We have no news on the album, we were talking about it on this page, please atleast read the last page when posting!

Darkness 04-05-2005 06:20 PM

Yes, her name is Amber Bell and I have no idea who she is.

at the pace their going now for making albums their probably make only 3 more and then they will retire or something

SeAmoNKeY 04-05-2005 06:56 PM

Unfortunately i was gone for the majority of the great wave of bootleg generosity that engulfed this thread. Does anyone have the heart to upload one of the concerts again? Or MSN it to me. Please...
Anyone think that it's possible the album will actually be released EARLY to suprise fans even more?
Interesting that you mention that, becaues I've thought abou it but realized it's unlikely, mainly because their record company would not allow it. They'll want the maximum time for promotion and building anticipation as possible.

x the patient x6 04-05-2005 07:51 PM

some people were talking about the synth and such

and i know its Adam, he plays Relfection with his foot live

and Jonny Greenwood plays Planet Telex live with the head of his guitar on the keys of the keyboard, its awesome to see

ok later

BlindWriting 04-05-2005 09:04 PM

All right. I gotta say.
I know I've bashed people for being concerned about the whole Maynard/Jesus thing, so I feel like a complete hypocrite when I say that I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Kage 04-05-2005 09:09 PM

Eh, I'm not worried at all. If it is true, then I think Maynard may be the biggest ignorant prick in the world.

But it's not. Tool is known for joking around with their fans. I just wish they would have come up with something better for this April Fool's.

jensmatty 04-05-2005 09:24 PM
Interesting that you mention that, becaues I've thought abou it but realized it's unlikely, mainly because their record company would not allow it. They'll want the maximum time for promotion and building anticipation as possible.
Since when has Tool done what their record company wants?

misunderstood 04-05-2005 09:36 PM

^^Well, i don't think they have much choice sometimes.

Werny 04-05-2005 10:40 PM

JoZ said somewhere back that it'd be hardcore to have a fulltime keyboard/synth player for Tool. I was thinking that just yesterday! Imagine Reflection, Lateralus and The Patient with keyboard... ooooh. And Third Eye too.

But since the next album is more brutal, semi-death metal, I guess keyboard's won't work.

Huber 04-05-2005 10:41 PM

I wouldn't go as far as calling it even semi-death metal. I wouldn't like that at all.

The JoZ 04-05-2005 11:08 PM
JoZ said somewhere back that it'd be hardcore to have a fulltime keyboard/synth player for Tool. I was thinking that just yesterday! Imagine Reflection, Lateralus and The Patient with keyboard... ooooh. And Third Eye too.
Those tracks definetly could benefit from a keyboard.

Not that the songs are bad or lacking as they are, but the extra synth would only make it better...
But since the next album is more brutal, semi-death metal, I guess keyboard's won't work.
Heavier? Oh yes.

Death metal? Never.

Huber 04-05-2005 11:11 PM

When I think of Tool making their music a little more heavier, I think Ticks and Leeches style.

The JoZ 04-05-2005 11:13 PM
When I think of Tool making their music a little more heavier, I think Ticks and Leeches style.
Agreed.

Or end of The Grudge heavier.

It will be very interesting to see what "heavier" means for Tool.

I think it will mean more crushing walls of sound, and bigger sonic landscapes rather than chugging riffage.

mudvayne420 04-05-2005 11:38 PM

i think the new album will be like probably how Aenema was, but in a ticks and leeches style. Since that song wan't about the lateralus type stuff.
srry but i have to say that if maynard found jesus then well, i guess the world would end. also i think that their version of heavier could be more dynamical, and chilled out, and longer songs.
And with the salival cd i like third eye live a little bit but, i think they could've done the end like the album version instead of maynard only sayin " prying open my third eye" 4 times. and pu**** i like it, because the intro and how they go from the modified version to the original.

jensmatty 04-06-2005 12:59 AM
^^Well, i don't think they have much choice sometimes.
At one point didn't they stop recording one of their album and refused to play because their record company was fucking them around too much? At least I think I read that somewhere... could be bullshit.

Convectuoso 04-06-2005 01:20 AM

On the whole Maynard/Jesus issue...I don't care if he has found Jesus...What pisses me off, is that he "abandoned the project altogether"...
