Lets get that name change guys...

And BB with Mikeal > any other BB. Have you guys heard the demo with him? Its sweet.

Cardboard Headgear 09-12-2005 04:36 PM
Yeah, Peter is incredible...he's like the Devin Townsend of black+death metal. :p

Didn't know he was in Bloodbath, now....cool!
Well, he's not anymore, he was just on the Nightmares Made Flesh album.

Well, I prefer Mikeal's vocals, but the songwriting on NMF is much better if you ask me.

Plus, NMF starts off with "We must kill them, for they must die". How much more metal can you get?

Special Brew 09-12-2005 07:47 PM

Sounds cheesy to me.

True, but I love the guitar tone on RTC. And yes, Mikeals vocals are awesomer.

Hells Bells 09-12-2005 08:00 PM
It's pretty atrocious. Even more painful is the way they cut down the song for it. Mikael said the band had very little part in producing it and don't like it...I believe that.
I don't want to see that video...I like the Grand Conjuration and I don't want to see how it's been butchered in the name of accessibility. I remember hearing Mikael saying the same thing, and he didn't like how it turned out...I think Riva put it on one of the MNM's.

Deth 09-12-2005 08:02 PM

It's really bad. If they just had the band playing, it might have been OK, and the chicks were hot, but it made no sense.

And yeah, the butching sucked.

Hells Bells 09-12-2005 08:17 PM

I think I might end up watching it regardless....
I still think they should have done something different, one that they wouldn't have had to cut down.

Special Brew 09-12-2005 08:42 PM

Does anyone know if Mikael and Opeth had any say so in the concept of the video? I like the video, but the video seems kind of standard for the Headbanger's Ball crowd, which I never considered Opeth a part of. Windowpane was in there a few years back though.

i saw it too and i have to agree with the others that it is pretty confusing

Hells Bells 09-12-2005 08:51 PM

No he didn't, and I don't think he wanted any part in it. He probably had some idea as to what they were going to do with it.

Shadows 09-12-2005 09:11 PM

I'm a little desperate here, so I would really appreciate some help with this. I'm looking for a fairly short Opeth song (3-4 minutes) with great, meaningful lyrics. Any ideas? :(

Killtacular 09-12-2005 09:30 PM

To be honest, I can't think of any Opeth songs that short with vocals. Well, except for those on the bonus disc of Blackwater Park.

Still Day Beneath the Sun (4:34)
Patterns in the Ivy II (4:13)

Other that those, I'm lost.

Shadows 09-12-2005 09:32 PM

Actually, I think I may have found the perfect song. :) Thanks anyway. Now I just need to download (preferrably buy) Damation.

I saw that. Prodction isn't what I meant. I am talking about the entire concept to the video. Opeth had to have some say in that. Video ideas get pitched to the bands, and they choose whether they like it or not. I'm sure Opeth wouldn't want something meaningless in their work.

Harvest and Benighted would also work. So would Hours of Wealth, Atonement, or Isolation years. Their softer songs tend not to last as long.

Subete 09-13-2005 03:04 PM

Im just happy the vids getting opeth the attention it deserves.

Shadows 09-13-2005 03:13 PM

I'm thinking something off of ****ation. The song Dead Whispered a Lulliby seems to have a nice, soft sound and lyrics that I could easily relate to what I need to do in school.

I like it. I'm still not completely decided though. If I find a song I like even more I'll use it. Windowpane is amazing, but I'm not sure about the lyrics.

Bonus Disc??

Killtacular 09-13-2005 03:48 PM

Yessir. On the re-release, there was a bonus disc featuring those two slow, acoustic-y type songs and I believe some behind the scenes footage of the recording process.

Can you AIM me that bonus disc? MisterGroovy1023 is my SN.

I wander what actually took place with that video. Mike has sucha broad imagination, I can't picture the concept of this video being totally his creation. The scary Mr. Bondage man lip syncing the growls? Old men looking scared in a chair? The Grand Conjuration lyrics are so much deeper than the situation portayed, and I don't think Mike would have wanted to lighten the meaning and mood of his own song.
Hmm...I Do wander how it all took place.

relliK 09-13-2005 10:05 PM

Get rid of the shirtless Mr. Bondage dude, and you have a much better video.

Special Brew 09-14-2005 02:43 AM

I thought the video was alright, but average. I'm sure Mike had more say in the video concept than we are admitting to. I just don't see why he would agree to a video like that, unless there was a reason. Perhaps he just wants a more mainstream video? Also, TGC is one of the most different Opeth songs they've made, I don't think it was a good choice for a first single.

the2stranger 09-14-2005 02:57 AM

Guess who went to Opeth last sunday
I was standing first row, and I even interacted with Mikeal!!!!:D:D:D
I took one picture, stupid cam...

they played a lovely set list:
The Grand conjuration.
Harlequin Forest
Black water park
to rid the desease
the drapery falls
face of melinda.
demon of the fall

blackwater park was amazing! the most awesome song they played.
too bad they didn't play Ghost of Perdition, my fave song of the new album

Special Brew 09-14-2005 03:01 AM

Mikeal, how's your wive?
and he said: She's fine thank you, my [growlmode] WIIIIIVEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!![/growlmode]

I interacted with Mikeal :D

Special Brew 09-14-2005 03:17 AM

Haha, I think I love that man. Too bad he has a wife. :(

Deth 09-14-2005 05:48 AM
