A C or D is ungood, I think deferred success is doubleungood.

Wintermute 10-26-2006 04:22 PM

Good point, deferred success is doubleplus-ungood.

...and we have always been at war with Eurasia.

PaulR 10-26-2006 04:22 PM

Where has B gone? Or has the letter B been deemed politically unsafe too?

One Groovin Clown 10-26-2006 04:23 PM

If it's double, that means it can be no where near as bad cause:

Double = better

That is the ministry of truth for you.

'B' can stand for 'Black', and is therefore 'doubleplusungood', and politically 'incorrect'.

We'll D stands for De-moralizing, and that's bad. So we should replace all letter grades with numbers. But the numbers have to always have smiley faces beside them so that the children can feel good about them selves.

Oh right, plus. It's been too long since I read it.

We were always at war with Eurasia a month ago. Now we've always been at war with Eastasia.

Wintermute 10-26-2006 04:27 PM

*glances at the thoughtscreens*

Eastasia! Of course. Slip of the tongue. Silly of me. Hahaha. Ha. Ha.

Untrue, we have always been at war with Eurasia.

Ah, you fool. I am O'brien's boss, you have all been arrested and face going to room 101. This bass that you discuss here so freely has turned your minds against Ingsoc. You must all be re-educated.

Hey, we were the loyal ones.

AP, you've never read 1984?

One Groovin Clown 10-26-2006 04:40 PM

I've never read it either.

It's not very long. You should both read it.

And Animal Farm.

Akira 10-26-2006 04:42 PM

Yeah, it's a quick read. You've got to read it though. It's scary how real it feels.

One Groovin Clown 10-26-2006 04:45 PM

I just googled it.

Found out I could read the entire novel online for free.

thelowsoundofbass 10-26-2006 04:45 PM

It is a very good book, and akira if you knew the book well. O'brien appears to be part of the brotherhood to lure in people that are questioning the government. Therefore I am the loyal one as I am doing the work that has been assigned.

I do know the book, and I know who O'brien is. You tempted us, but we refused to join. So we were being loyal.

It's true, by denying your lies and reporting you for spreading them, we'd fulfilled the policies of the inner party and the principles of IngSoc perfectly. If we'd gone along with you to join the Brotherhood, THEN we'd end up in MiniLuv.
