Dude3 - how old are you?

Just tell you're parents how you feel about it, that you want to stay where you are with you're friends and school. You dont want to change right now.

In the end its you're choice, you're life - if you are above 18 you should definatley have a stay.
Course if you are a young laddy - and you're parents are strict.

just say what you said to us - im sure they will understand. There is no harm in going to ur moms at the weekends while going to school with friends during the weekdays, and during the summer maybe change it around. Thats what my m8 did back when he was in school.
Just tell her you don't like her "that way"?
I told her the "I'm not ready to see anyone yet" thing. She'll get over it, I'm always worried about hurting people's feelings and stuff, even about sumb things, that's another thing I should work on.

~grif~ 04-11-2006 01:58 PM

well wiz, what can you do. If you cared about what you said to everyone - you'd have a tough life. She will have to just get over it or post on L&R thread :p

B 04-11-2006 01:59 PM

Ugh. I just went from ecstatic to crying in like 20 minutes.

PS:This is Brandon/Fire Whispers for those of you who care.

whats up man?

B 04-11-2006 02:03 PM

I asked a girl out ad she says yes. gethome and a few minutes later she calls me up and say that she needs more time to be comfortable around me so that we can have a good relationship.

All this will do is leave her time to not like me and start liking someone else. And then I get fucked over once again. Isn't this nice.

not going to say there is plenty more fish in the sea, but if she isnt into you m8, what can you do?
im sure there is someone else.
maybe you shouldnt ask her out, maybe just hang out for a while and get comfortable. Maybe there is something about you that is making her uncomfortable.

maybe.

Special Brew 04-11-2006 02:10 PM

Don't worry about it dude, just go hang out with her, and if she doesn't like you, move on to the next girl. You may feel like crap now, but it will pass.

You don't get it. She is into me. She spent like 10 minutes the other day practically crying to one of her/my best friends about how she thought I didn't like her.

Unfortunately, I'm only 15. So when it comes down to it, I can't do whatever I want. My mom has custody of me(not full, but the majority of it, not sure what its called).

And my parents never were strict or anything. And I honestly don't know why it would make any sense to my mom for me to move to St.Pete with her. I guess so she could be with me every day, but in the end, everyone is just gonna be even more depressed. I'll tell her that. Me, my sister, my dad, and all our friends are gonna be really saddened over this, and my mom wouldn't want to see me and my sister like that. So, I'll use that as another good reason to let us stay in the Brandon/Valrico area.

And like you said, about seeing her on weekends:
We still see her. I call her almost every night(I need to make it several times a day thoguh, jsut to be nice), and I go to her place every other weekend. And she comes down here sometimes too. So, we don't ditch her. We see her and keep in contact.

If she's into you at all, just give it time before you try to progress things. Ask her out on a few dates and hang out with her more, and seee what happens. It's all you can do. Don't worry about things, because she's just a girl, and she is replacable.

well if she likes you so much to cry about you, why dose she need to be more comfortable around you.

thinking about it, maybe something happened or something was said to change her mind, you should talk to her about it.

well im sure you're parents are like hating eachother and do whatever to spite eachother like taking custody. when you talk to them, tell them how you feel - im sure they will understand.

Well, they don't hate eachother. They're actually still friends and all....well, I guess we'll see how long that lasts. My mom seems to be putting all this stuff onto my dad now, blaming him for things that aren't even his fault. And my dad knows how I feel, and agrees 100%. He wants me to stay here sooo bad, just as bad as I do. My mom is the only one who wants me to go to St.Pete. She's the only one I have to convince. Too bad she's the one with the custody. jeez.

I was reading a few pages back and the topic seemed to be confidence. And I've been thinking, I have very little confidence when it comes to making a move. "Get some balls" is usually the advice I get, but unless it's blatantly obvious she wants it, I can't bring myself make the first move. I think it's cause I have a fear of rejection. I've had little success with girls, and have been hurt a lot. I don't really know what I can do to start believing in myself.

I can pretend to be confident on stage, although I am pretty confident about myself when it comes to that. I don't know how I can pretend to be confident around girls. I have no problem with being funny and witty, but initiating anything with a girl is tough.

everybody feels like crap at some point - just keep in mind that she sounds like she's in it for the long run... the fact that she's taking her time (so long as it seems she's interested in you) means a lot

The single best general advice, possibly ever posted in this thread, is this

"Don't break eye contact"

If your looking, and your eyes meet, make her look away, you just keep on keeping on. Its hard to get used to, i still have that sudden urge to jerk my head away, but I'm trying, i think its working.

Okay, maybe its not the best advice in the thread, but as far a confidenc goes. it is.

mmfan486 04-11-2006 03:57 PM

It's that simple?

Well, that explains ****ing everything...

~grif~ 04-11-2006 04:17 PM

thats a bit weird to me lol

sarcasm?

if it is, then: I'm just saying it helps.

if it isnt: same

Edit: Grif- Just do it playfully even, if your sitting in class and a girl catches your eye, dont look away, even turn it into a staring contest or something. I dunno. I just remember reading it here, and using it.

erock 04-11-2006 04:39 PM

I got a bit of dilemma going on. I met this girl after a show who supposedly thinks I'm cute. I won't argue with that atm, lol. So anyway I get her email. It turns out she was also at a previous show(upstairs in the dance club part of the venue) and met some of our fans. So I just realise this after I get interested in hooking up with her. She likes going to dance clubs. I like thrash metal. We share a liking for radiohead/pinkfloyd/zeppelin. But this dancing thing threw me off. what do I do about this?

Actually i should mention, this dance club above lee's palace plays **** like zeppelin and alternative (rock i assume). Do people dance to zeppelin? Yeah I guess they would... and did in the 70's. I dunno if I should respectively bow out of this attempt at a relationship.

i know what you meant.
Just the way you seemed to say it lol.
a bit creepy if you will...staring constantly at some girl

man, in the end its just music and dont let that stop you. I dont like dance/techno much - but i dont mind it at clubs when ur drunk in all fairness. Some of it can be quiet good - so good i think about writing guitar to some of the songs.
In the clubs i got to they play some indie aswell, strokes, whitestripes or even Lynard Skynard.

Like what do you care about the music when the girl is right there? You dont have to like the music to enjoy the night. You might find yourself liking some of it even if it is rap/rnb or techno - some of that stuff is really well put together even if its not roaring metal :)

Try it out for a couple of times - dont like it - drink. :chug:

I've been put into a similar but not quite the same situation. Im 16, my parents got divorced several years ago and a year and a bit ago my dad moved to Queensland, which is a 12 hour drive to get there. I would much rather stay with my dad than my mum, but all my friends and everyone close to me is down here.So i've stayed with my mum, gladly my dad is moving back soon and ill be seeing him for the first time in over a year. :)

Anyway, my dad understands that i want to be here because my friends are here and they're important to me, and he knows i want to stay with him which is why he's moving back.

You just have to make it clear that your friends mean alot to you, and you to them. So staying where you are works out better for everyone, even your mum if she can decide to stay in the area. If her and your dad are still friends I don't see why they have to be so far away from each other.

Bring up stuff like how changing schools will mean you have to make new friends, it will cause distraction in class and chances are your grades are going to slip for a while, even if this is not the case it doesn't hurt to exaggerate the possibilties. As someone else said, compare the 2 areas and sway her to your side so she realises that moving away is not going to be healthy for you.

Good luck.

O ok, I was on the assumption you actually had to dance and stuff. I have no prob with different types of music. It's the dancing part that makes me hesistate. How in the bloody hell do you dance to lynyrd skynyrd and led zeppelin unless your doing some pulp fiction dance to Rock and Roll. Hell, If I can go there and just drink my face off and not dance thats ****in wicked. Of course she might want to dance. I guess thats the underlying issue. I ave to check one of these places out.
It's that simple?

I'm detecting a bit of sarcasm.

The thing of it is, everything is life is a combination of theory and practice. If you don't have enough of one or the other, you're not going to succeed.

The eye contact exercise is a mental one that instills you with a feeling of personal power, authority, self-worth, and status. You realize that you are an equal to everyone you meet and you have no obligation to cast your eyes down in deference to them when first meeting them.

I'm not telling you to stare at people, only to hold eye contact. As you become more comfortable with a person, you can allow your eye contact to gradually become more relaxed because you've already asserted that you hold yourself in a (healthy) high regard and don't feel the need to seek approval from others.

Idiot Martyr 04-11-2006 06:13 PM

I remember seeing that advice posted a while back. It really worked wonders for me and it's at least worth a shot.

blag the dancing... seriously, just pretend you can dance and do it...
i don't think i can dance for shit... but then this girl dragged me onto a podium with her, where we could be seen by like everyone... and i blagged the dancing, and let me tell you, so long as ur not scared, you are the best dancer there...

B 04-11-2006 06:45 PM

I dance like the cool kids do. Dancing doesn't bother me at all. I dance in the middle of streets and sidewalks and even sing my own music to dance to. Fun stuff it is.
