What was your last post?
Pulse was disappointing. Not totally terrible but diappointing.
This one?

Danger Bird 01-19-2007 05:05 PM

Yeah

Yield 01-19-2007 05:41 PM

I don't know. I didn't rep you.

rippa32 01-19-2007 07:08 PM

Maybe alot of people agree with you. Rep has never been a good indication on these forums.

Surf 01-19-2007 07:10 PM

I liked pulse.

I like the post waters songs alot more live than I do on the albums

especially High Hopes

I don't know why.

Riva 01-19-2007 11:09 PM

Especially Learning To Fly, it's one of my favourite Floyd songs, no matter what era.

Leper 01-20-2007 12:14 AM
Especially Learning To Fly, it's one of my favourite Floyd songs, no matter what era.
Yeah that's a great song. For some reason I always forget about it, and then re-discover it's greatness.

rippa32 01-20-2007 12:22 AM

To me it sounds nothing like Pink Floyd. As much as they changed musical direction over the years there was still something that when youd listen you would know its Pink Floyd. Whereas with the post-waters songs I didnt feel that way.

symmetrix 01-20-2007 12:23 AM

guys does pink floyd ever trip u out like the first song on the division bell

Leper 01-20-2007 12:28 AM

What's your definition of "tripping out?"

Riva 01-20-2007 12:28 AM

I know it's Pink Floyd from Gilmour's voice, and it's not really all that different from any of the other post-Waters songs.

rippa32 01-20-2007 03:08 AM

I meant all post-waters songs. From what ive heard, its not that I don't like them its the fact they sound more Gilmour solo.

Riva 01-20-2007 03:40 AM

Well, the band took a major turn when they lost Syd also, but I still consider every album made under the Pink Floyd name to be a Pink Floyd album. :p

Dragon_Prince 01-20-2007 04:33 AM

And The Devision Bell is great, I rate it higher than Animals.

Riva 01-20-2007 06:03 AM

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I'd rate it above Atom Heart Mother and Ummagumma on an album vs album basis.

AnyColour74 01-20-2007 06:56 AM

Nothing can surpass Animals

MrConeman 01-20-2007 06:59 AM
Especially Learning To Fly, it's one of my favourite Floyd songs, no matter what era.
Listening to that right now. That middle section when everything goes so atmospheric and breezy is so damn good. Dave's voice is amazing in that bit.

:D Truth

-1up!- 01-20-2007 08:43 AM

Honestly I hate Learning to Fly. One of the weakest Floyd songs I've heard.

And Animals rule supreme.

Surf 01-20-2007 08:58 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again; WYWH > Animals.

And I don't particularly like the post-Waters out put, but on Pulse the songs just seem to work alot better, and I can actually enjoy them alot more than the album tracks.

Danger Bird 01-20-2007 11:15 AM

Piper through Meddle>Animals

Yield 01-20-2007 11:40 AM
I've said it before and I'll say it again; WYWH > Animals.
I like WYWH, but it's not as great as I used to think it was. Have a Cigar is okay, SOYCD is classic, I like Welcome to the Machine, and I feel the same with the title track as I do for Have a Cigar. I like Animals more though because it has more that I like a lot.

Yeah, I agree with this.

Surf 01-20-2007 11:59 AM

the title track is my favourite floyd song, so I hold it in pretty high regard. Animals is probably better as a singluar entity, i.e. all the songs are very similar and flow well, but I think WYWH just has better songs. SOYCD the title track and have a cigar are among some of their best work. Welcome to the machine is not really as good. But I'd still rate the album higher than Animals, if only because its more diverse: It covers a range of emotions as opposed to Animals' just seemingly just being very angry.

Both are great though.

Yield 01-20-2007 01:24 PM

I still like all of the songs, they just don't do it for me as much as they used to.

symmetrix 01-20-2007 02:50 PM

any colour you like is crazy good

Amit 01-20-2007 03:05 PM

is it just me or does song give off crazy mad dark side of the moon vibes:

Josh 01-20-2007 03:25 PM

i need to listen to WYWH, i've decided. i've had Shine on.... I-V stuck in my head for 2 days now, ever since i was walking through town on thursday night and some shop was playing it so loud i could still hear the solo at the other end of the street. :)
it's a cool hi-fi shop.

randomthought9 01-20-2007 03:27 PM

Haha nice. Good idea, I think I'll listen to WYWH too.

BurningSky 01-20-2007 03:55 PM

I'd say Floyd was great from Piper to Atom, peaked with Meddle and Darkside, started losing thunder with WYWH, and fizzled out after The Wall...

Meddle is my favorite, Darkside is, from a compositional standpoint, the best...

I don't think the change from Syd to Gilmour was nearly as big as from when Waters left.
