So how is it going to be changed, will it be the same thread just re-named, or is there going to be a fresh one?
No, it'll be the same thread. The mods can rename it. I just asked in the Report Problems thread.

Ad Absurdum 10-23-2005 04:33 PM

The name got changed

/is going to see Dream Theater tomorrow :D

scenesfromatheater 10-23-2005 04:41 PM

Dream Theater on Wednesday.....yyyeeessssssssss....I've been waiting so long for this.

Darkness 10-23-2005 04:42 PM

I still don't like the MXtropolis part, but its still good.

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 04:44 PM

Guys, that's by far the most forced out of any of the thread names.

I've been enjoying the Live at Budakan cd. They're even more amazing live.

I'm enjoying your avatar.

That's one evil Geddy!

I don't like the LATB setlist all that much...maybe it's just me.

Other than the TOT stuff, there isn't that much to reccommend on there.

/awaits denouncement

That's because Cain screwed up and left out Thread of Eternity, then added it after most voted.

nowitzki 10-23-2005 05:22 PM

I'm happy with the new thread title.
And even happier about the fact that by this time Tuesday night I will have seen 6 hours of live Dream Theater :D

Neither do I but I still like it. There's nothing from Awake, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance, only 1 song from SFAM, no A Change of Seasons :(. That was their whoring Train of Thought show.

Lord Abortion 10-23-2005 06:13 PM

Yeah, I love the TOT stuff on there, I just think the choice of the other songs is strange...

Only 1 I&W song too...

GenuineImitation 10-23-2005 06:13 PM

I like the new thread title. I wish Thread of though won, but this was my second choice.

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 07:03 PM

Yeah, I was going to mention the lack of I&W songs as we;;/

If you guys really want, you can have it be "Thread of Eternity." I don't really care one way or the other.

Sorry I forgot it. :(

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 07:09 PM

It's not that bad, actually. Atleast it's better than the Slayer thread title.

I prefer Thread of Eternity, personally... but I'll forgive you if it doesn't change. :)

Sweet title.

bwnstl 10-24-2005 07:39 PM

Holy Christ, I just watched the commentary audio of Metropolis: Scenes from New York. Here are my comments.
1) Mike Portnoy should never be allowed to direct again. For some reason he thinks all those retarded effects are cool.
2) They are mostly a bunch of dorks who aren't funny when they're trying to be.
3) I would be pissed if I was Myung or LaBrie. It seems like every time they tried to start talking Portnoy would interrupt them and go off on another tangent.
4) Rudess is actually the most entertaining and interesting member to listen to, although musically he's my least favorite. (Leave the shredding to Petrucci and write some decent music for gods-sake. [Oh well, at least he got "Disappear" right.])
5) Was I mistaken or did Portnoy say something borderline racist on there? When the choir comes out he said something like "well, i guess I know where the chicken fried [something] went"

Overall it was pretty entertaining, but those things just really annoyed the hell out of me.

Umm...
Track listing

5. War Inside My Head
6. Test That Stumped Them All
13. Goodnight Kiss
14. Solitary Shell
16. Disappear

Keeping in Mind it was the Riding the Train of Thought World tour.

:p

BludgeonySteve 10-24-2005 09:03 PM

I must have meant something else.

Lord Abortion 10-25-2005 05:38 AM

Yeah, they had all that 6DOT stuff on there, and missed Misunderstood, which has to be the best track on there out... :(

Aberrationbass 10-25-2005 06:37 AM

has any of them been doing solos on tour lately

He didn't do one last night I can say that, but non the less, his drumming was superb.

Firecracker 10-25-2005 08:57 AM

NP: Octavarium

I want a Jordan Rudess Continuum.

My response:

2)Shut up. Myung is the coolest man alive. No question.
3)I don't think I've ever heard Myung ever try and speak, the only time he does, it's because someone asks him a question, and even then he gives a witty answer like "What you playing there John?", "Bass".
4)Shut up.

GRRRRR... ah well I'm seeing them tommorow standing. I shall be right at the front and will be blinded by JR's bald head.

His beard too... See if you can contain the laughter when he first walks out.
And have fun tomorrow.

My response:
2) Notice that Myung was not included in that statement since he barely ever spoke.
3) See #2. Also, I was mainly talking about LaBrie. There were a few times when he started speaking and was interrupted by Portnoy, although that happened I think once or twice with Myung as well. Also, I don't remember that quote.
4) Shut up? That's all you've got? Dream Theater's my favorite band, but at least I'm not a fanboy who can't accept criticism of them. It's the truth, Rudess may make impressive music, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's GOOD. I've learned that I much prefer Kevin Moore's style. He could shred too, but at least he kept it tasteful and not on every song. Instead, he focused on writing good music.

Ad Absurdum 10-25-2005 11:30 AM

Well I'm home and hungover from the gig last night and it was pretty great. They played a wide setlist with stuff from every album (and even some pre-WDADU track that I haven't heard before. Unfortunately, the night was kind of ruined because me and my friends waited outside in the rain for almost an hour in the rain wearing only a t-shirt and a kilt and the band just drove by without even waving :( (Although my friend did wheek up his kilt and flash them )

Jev 10-25-2005 11:33 AM

Maybe Myung's just shy, he doesn't talk much or move about much on stage.
