my opinion on metalcore: it's ok... IMO it all sounds the same, but i am not an expert and have not been subject to much metalcore... i'll say for the most part the only metalcore i've heard is trivium... me, as with all my friends loved it for about... ehh 2-3 monthes then got sick of it
but thats my very un-expert opinion.... if you would like, prove me otherwise

NP: A Plea For Purging. ftw.

4yearpro? 08-15-2007 09:45 PM

i dont understand when people say all metalcore sounds the same, they act as if all the other genres r original. kalmah, bodom, and norther sound the same to me

king of suede 08-15-2007 09:50 PM

haha i didn't bring other genres into it... i think all pop punk sounds the same, i'm not a fan of rap , but i will listen to the old-school jams if i get the chance...laa dee da dee da
yes, there are alot of bands that all sound the same OUTSIDE of metcore,
it's just that it's a metalcore thread so i posted my opinion on metalcore

but i get where you're comming from

4yearpro? 08-15-2007 09:53 PM

yeah but even my friends, their like its all the same. for some reason, it seems like its picked on alot.

illpressureurhinges1 08-15-2007 10:21 PM

it is picked on alot, and its true that lots of it sounds the same, but thats because there were some of the founding metalcore bands and some of the innovative ones that got copied over and over by tons of people, therefore making even the innovative bands sound like everyone else

it gets "picked on" because its the current trend. people did it with nu-metal when that was huge.

I've heard DEP classified as mathcore...what's the difference between mathcore and metalcore anyway?

4yearpro? 08-15-2007 10:43 PM

well according to what i read, weird time signatures

RetiredAt21 08-16-2007 07:30 AM

Mathcore isn't a real genre.

Pete 08-16-2007 07:41 AM

DEP is a metal band with odd sigs and structures, and calling them mathcore is quite common. That, however, doesn't make mathcore a genre.

RetiredAt21 08-16-2007 07:51 AM

People are making up "cores" all the time. It's crazy.

Eliminator 08-16-2007 07:53 AM
