I'm scared to listen to them, hee. No, not really. I do have to make sure I'm not already depressed before I put them on, though. |

I'll go with Black Murder.
To me, Black Metal is better than any Metal, other than the original Heavy Metal, such as Black Sabbath or Motorhead. It's better than most music.
I just can't get into it. I've tried many times. The only band I really listen to anymore, and that's if I'm even in the mood, is Panopticon or WITTR. |
Black Metal is definitely one of the three genres I listen to the most.

Maybe I'll "get it" eventually. But right now it all seems like bands copying off of Mayhem and Burzum. So pretty much no one is doing anything interesting. Considering Mayhem and Burzum are already not that interesting. |
you guys reckon its worth spending $62 on a couple of Paysage D'Hiver cds?
|
You don't have to listen to black metal to have a good music taste.
(Not that I accuse you guys of implying that, but I know people who actually do.) |
A lot of people I know in real life who listen to BM actually have a pretty shitty taste in music in general.
Brew: Yes, do it. Kyle: There's a lot of bands out there that aren't copying either of those tbh, you just have to look further. |

the thing is, it is kind of like punk and hardcore. bands that don't stray much from the conventions of the genre can still perform it really well, and stand out. there are a lot of generic BM bands but everybody is always in disagreement with who is and who isn't, just don't pay attention to what others tell you jump in and try and find the stuff you like. if you go through a few discographies of the core second wave norwegian groups (like I did) you'll find something to like eventually, i'm sure. from there branch out to all this other stuff from around the world everyone else is into, I think skipping standards like Immortal, Emperor or Satyricon for something like Akitsa or Paysage d'Hiver or whatever over bands get fellated on the regular around here can be a mistake, it sort of takes things out of context and gets you into a mindset where you don't really want to bother checking out those groups because they are popular and well known. they still might have some albums you like, you never know. listen to like 20 albums before you give up on the genre, at least |
best lln is belketre

Goddammit, I love Weakling.
|
Yeah, Weakling is awesome.

Maybe not, but, $22 dollars, for tickets to see Dimmu, and Enslaved, and another $22 dollars to see Cradle and Nachtmystium, not too bad. (Of course, I didn't get the tickets online.) Especially when you consider that my godson's mom just forked out around $500 for two tickets for them to see to Eric Clapton. I think they in the front row, or something, but, still. (PS: Don't tease me about Cradle, hee. I was there for Blake.) |
anyone else really like acherontas?

I'll probably order those cds after my birthday. $62 (£35-ish depending on the current exchange rate) seems like a good deal. |
$62 for a show is a rip off.
|
those paysage things are prob a little overpriced, but at least you're getting an A5 book cover thing with it
plus it's paysage fag needs to do vinyl reissues |
Most I ever paid for a show was like 40 dollars to see Heaven and Hell and be in like the 3rd row, well worth it.
|
R.I.P. Dio
|
60 bucks is pretty average for an international act here (not including huge ones). ie. opeth 3 years ago was 65 bucks. metallica or leonard cohen are like 150. la dispute played here a couple of weeks ago, that was like 25 bucks which was cool
|
65 bucks for Opeth? haha holy shit, I would never go to shows there.
Btw, Ashdautas <3 |
wow i hate paying more than 25 for a show
|
