Most of the other places won't pay you what places like Sears and grocery stores would pay you.

You must strive to make as much money as possible. An hour can be a long time and you might as well get paid as much as you can for it.

If you do all of what you said and look like trash, you have no chance at all. But if you do all of what you said and have a professional image you'll be ahead of most of the competition.

Weird unconventional multi-colored haircuts are not professional and will ultimately hold you back.

Mine's not modded and never crashes. What kind of mods you have though?
 My hair and facial hair limit me from a lot of jobs. Luckily music stores are never too strict on those kind of things.

Yeah, but right now it doesn't really matter for you.

No, in fact it takes me a while to grow any decent facial hair.

Drum Phil 09-18-2006 05:50 PM

I need a shower.

And some decent rolling papers

Pfft. Sears and the grocery stores here blow as far as cash goes. They're the minimum-wagers, not all the places that WILL hire me. And if I have this bagel job Saturday and Sunday mornings plus some other job hostess-ing or waitress-ing somewhere, I'll be set for money. And still have free time. And still be able to have my hair. Hah, 8 hours of sleep...I'm lucky if I sleep that much.

They'll only hold you back if you're looking for a conventional, professional job. If all else fails I can still learn to wrench and work at a bike shop. My dad's in with all the ones in Sierra Vista, and female wrenchers are always in demand.

Exactly. I'm not saving up for an apartment, a car, college...that's already covered. I just need a low-end job for work experience and cash to blow on silly things.

Phil, do you use flavored rolling papers? I know this guy, Tree, Saturday he had peppermint flavored ones...I didn't even know they FLAVORED papers. I've heard they got vanilla, too.

NP: Black Rose Immortal.

I remeber someone earlier was wondering if the song "If you have to ask" by RHCP was in swing or not. In the most recent issue of modern drummer, it's cited as an example of swing in rock.

Yeah. He blasts open handed, and somehow that makes it more powerful. Also, he tends to do it at a slow enough tempo that it all comes out clearly.

Yay, our camping plans are final. We already booked the campsites, and we're getting food and such tomorrow, if not tonight. We still have 48 hotdogs left over from last time we went camping. We bought a pack of 96 for dirt cheap, how could we resist?

It's going to be freezing at nighttime. Lately we've been getting temps hovering right above 0 degrees at night, that's gonna be a treat to sleep in...

Ming-a-Ling 09-18-2006 06:52 PM

I saw Stanton Moore last night. It was hands down, the best show I have ever been to. They played for like 2 and a half hours, and only stopped because the club was closing. Watching that guy play is unreal! He didn't have his big red kit though. He had a green sparkly one. It was the same kit, sans the larger bass drum. Papa Mali and Ivan Neville joined for a few songs.

Win A Rabbit 09-18-2006 07:00 PM

So I'm thinking. At both HMV's, during my "interview", I already lied to both stores. They asked the last 3 cd's I bought, but since the last ones I bought were a couple independant local bands half a year ago, I just listed off some of my favorite cd's.

Looks like I'm off to a good start.

Janeway 09-18-2006 07:28 PM

I'm in a terrible mood.

Why is it that I'm extremely calm 98% of the time, but when it's extremely inconvenient not to be, I lose it? At the moment I'm faced with an argument from somebody close to me, I jump at their throat. When somebody I don't know so well says something, I shrug my shoulders and leave.
