You guys are odd. I live for Interstellar Overdrive, and especially the end of it.
Yea, "Interstellar Overdrive" is great, I love the ending especially too. There's nothing quite like walking down a dark empty road at 2 AM listening to it.
|
That's one of the best songs on Piper.
And I love that part where it alternates speakers. |
I find it very boring, irritating, and ultimately unlistenable. But I love The End by the Doors and have heard many people describe it the same way so I dunno.
Heh, I guess it is one of those songs. All I know is when I listen to The End, I generally can't wait for the end. |
I love the song, but the shifting effect sounds like a two year old playing with my stereo.
Plus live versions are so much better. |

Yeah, I agree. I have an copy of a early Floyd concert, forget the date, but the "Interstellar Overdrive" is outstanding. It's the highlight of the concert. |

Long songs by Pink Floyd have always been superb live. I think it's when they let the jam band aspect of their music just flow.

Haha fair enough. I'm not sure what it is about Interstellar Overdrive. Usually longer instrumentals entrance me when I listen to them but I guess my mind just doesn't connect with that one for whatever reason. Maybe I'll listen to it one day and suddenly "get" it. |
Interstellar Overdrive is maybe 4-5 minutes longer than it should be, but the good parts are sweet.
|
Well, long stretches of not much are trademarks of Pink Floyd songs. Just look at Echoes for example. :p
|
Echoes is what a song written by God would sound like.
|
Yeah, Echoes is fantastic. Meddle is just a great album in general, but Echoes is definately the highlight.
|
lol meaning full discussionz in here
|
yeah I just bought pulse and you can deffinately tell where the jam band comes in, I mean some of the solos are like 3 or 4 minuites. but I have to agree, I never did like interstellar overdrive. It just didn't hit me like a lot of other songs did
|
3 or 4 whole minutes! Wow!
|
Those are quite the solos!
|
Echoes is what a song written by God would sound like.
Echoes is one of my all-time favorite PF songs. Lyrically, it's early Pink Floyd and I have to laugh a little at the concept, but musically it's awesome. |
You guys are odd. I live for Interstellar Overdrive, and especially the end of it.
i live for that song and end too. i ****ing love it. especially around 8:40... :thumb: |
Oh my god I think I actually like Atom Heart Mother now. That part when Alan chokes on his psychedelic breakfast is hilarious.
Yeah, I didn't see it coming either. |

and already im finding it unbelievable, just to see them making that music gives me chills. i love how the camera slowly circles round them at certain points and cuts to Dave singing in the studio and stuff.. man..standing in that little amphitheater with a bunch of amps behind you jamming when the sun is going down would be amaaaazing |
