They split up because one of there guitarest wanted to be in a prober band, so made fightstar, or something.

the-UK-ska-scene 05-12-2005 03:24 PM

I have guestlist for a Motion City Soundtrack show on Saturday but can't go. Pity me?

I saw I Am The Avalanche on Tuesday. To be honest, I didn't get into them as much as I thought I would. I wasn't quite compelled to buy a t shirt. It was annoying, because of the stupid big queue of stupid big emo kids outside I didn't get in until halfway through their set. And I did appreciate their songs, particularly the ones I had already heard... But they were heavier than I thought, and I don't know if Vinnie's voice really goes with that.

To be honest the whole night wasn't great. I Am The Avalanche were ok, Halifax were pants, Hidden In Plain View were upbeat but mediocre, and by the time Allister came on I just wanted to go home and sleep. I don't think I'm cut out for this Drive-Thru lark. Also I tried to get drunk halfway through the show but it didn't work.

Plus all my rugby-playing friends got in a fight with some dirty emos in the pit, and my friends got chucked out but the emos didn't(?). So I went outside and hung with them after about 15mins of Allister's set.

Kif 05-12-2005 03:30 PM

Didn't Vinnie used to sing for The Movielife?

Anyway, Drive-Thru has completely died now. I mean, what do they have to show for their work? A bunch of pop-punk bands which are incredibly overated (It's harsh but true), and a zillion signings they made this year and last that will never make it.

the-UK-ska-scene 05-12-2005 03:34 PM
Didn't Vinnie used to sing for The Movielife?
Yep, and I love his voice, just not sure yet whether IATA is right. I was wearing my Movielife/Revelation Records tee.... Along with about 5 million other people  But they had it in different colours, so it was ok. At least I wasn't wearing the same topshop shirt as a 14 year old, like my mate was :amaze:

Kif 05-12-2005 03:37 PM

Haha how embaressing. Well, I just stuck MxPx on the good ol' Zen, and Scrubs has finished (Which was a rather touching episode actually. I knew what was going to happen, but it was surprisingly serious for a show like that) so I'm gonna leave that on charge and wait for Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge to wake me up in the morning

Untitled 05-12-2005 03:39 PM

My printer ink has gone, and i need it, all my graphics coursework has to be handed in first thing in the morning.

Gnarmageddon 05-12-2005 07:20 PM

Night, Choda.

Understanding In a Crash 05-12-2005 07:26 PM

All I listen too is Poison The Well, all of their albums in rotation.

All Else Failed and new FOB has sneaked it's peaks though through the thick. :thumb:

Gnarmageddon 05-12-2005 07:26 PM

I was listening to new FOB today in my friend's car. Wasn't too bad. I think I might look into buying some of their stuff.

lstprphtspnk12 05-12-2005 07:30 PM

i listened to the new The Starting Line cd yesterday in my friends car. It was pretty nifty.

Understanding In a Crash 05-12-2005 07:30 PM

It's really catchy as it is poppy. I've always been for the bassist screams and he didn't really do much in this album but the outro one in Sophomore Slump or comeback of the year get's me wet everytime.

Poison the Well - Mid Air Love Message

The last minute and a half is pure sex.

Gnarmageddon 05-12-2005 07:47 PM

Wake the Dead is crazy. You can't even tell when the songs change.

cbmartinez 05-12-2005 08:07 PM

Dan, I can't believe you said Tear From The Red is better than TOOD. Blasphemy.

hey, you're not cory! 05-12-2005 08:09 PM

tood?

Understanding In a Crash 05-12-2005 08:14 PM

Nerdy is one of the best.

Understanding In a Crash 05-12-2005 08:17 PM

And I learned how to play it. If I reckon all of the songs on TOOD are full step down in D.

Or atleast that's what it sounds like to my ear, maybe lower?

Kif 05-13-2005 12:58 AM

tsl_ste 05-13-2005 03:34 AM
I know, I've heard INK played live and it's amazing. Do you know what other new songs they played?
ermmm... i'm not sure of the names, they played a lot anyway.

they played the one that goes "oh my god, i think iiiiii'm bliiiiind", that was great live.

they never said names really though... bleed brother bleed was one, and a really really fast one, someone in a coffin? thats not the name, but thats what name is talking about.

yay, drive thru tonight!
