Stormrider 04-15-2006 08:17 PM

Just got it :) Thanks again.

Any Evergrey fans? I've been downloading some of their songs, they freackin' rock! :thumb:

Shattered_Future 04-15-2006 08:55 PM

While not a power metal band, Evergrey rock hard nonetheless. They're a band I'm really getting into...

From what I've heard of Galloglass, they rock. I should finish listening to LFNAN...

The song with the same title is awesome as well, due to the ridiculous amount of violin in it.

At the moment, I'm listening to The Immortal Ones by Primal Fear. Just discovered how good this song was today...hella catchy.

Stormrider 04-15-2006 08:57 PM

Sadly, I only have 2 Galloglass songs. And I listenesd ot the ones ExitWound posted before. Great band.

NP Iced Earth - Desert Rain live 1992

All of this Power Metal is rocking my socks.

i d/l their new album Monday Morning Apocalypse off the daily upload, and loved it!

ACircuitShock 04-16-2006 12:31 AM

Oh yeah, I've been loving Evergrey recently as well. All I have is The Inner Circle and Monday Morning Apocalypse and I gotta say that The Inner Circle completley blew me away. His bluesy vocals and the meaningfull lyrics... it was delicious. MMA is good to, but it hasn't hit the same spot as TIC did. Maybe I just need to give it more time. I plan in trying to get some more soon.

Oh, and yes Galloglass kicks serious ***.

NP Gamma Ray-Armageddon

Riva 04-16-2006 02:57 AM

Yeah, Evergrey are pretty good. Not actually power metal though. :p
Yeah, Evergrey are pretty good. Not actually power metal though. :p
Ya, I didn't think they were either but I've seen them labeled as such for some odd reason... still good though! :thumb:

Lord Abortion 04-16-2006 04:25 AM

A Wintertale is my favourite Galloglass song.

One of my favourite choruses ever, a very very good track.

Riva 04-16-2006 06:11 AM

Oh yeah. I love that chorus.

Stormrider 04-16-2006 08:16 AM

I'm liking this Dungeon :)

NP Dungeon - Lost in the Light ...cool bass lines in here

Apocalyptic Raids 04-16-2006 08:17 AM

I like the solo part with the blastbeat best.

Captain Quentin 04-16-2006 06:45 PM
Yeah, Evergrey are pretty good. Not actually power metal though. :p
ive seen them labelled as progressive/power metal but they don't sound too power metalish to me :p

ACircuitShock 04-16-2006 06:52 PM

Anybody here like Elvenking? I just got Heathenreel and Wyrd and I'm loving the fok instruments and violin. The singer isn't half bad either.

Damna is a terrific singer. Elvenking was my favorite band for about a year of my life. The singer on Wyrd is actually different than the one on Heathenreel, he is good, though not as good as Damna on Heathenreel.

Ya, I noticed he sounded different, but it was similar enough that i wasn't quite sure. Now that I listen more I can tell that the vocals on Heathenreel are a little better, but they're both good. Btw did they get another singer for The Winter Wake? Cause those vocals sound different to me, not nearly as good as Heathenreel.

Nope that's Damna as well. His best performance thus far is definately on Heathenreel.

By the way, Kleid is the name of the singer on Wyrd.

Hmmm.. it seems like Damna changed his vocal style a bit for TWW. Maybe I just need to hear more, I only had a few samples from it and one or two full tracks. From what I've heard, Heathenreel is a much better performance.

Kleid isn't bad at all, he just aint Damna.

Yeah, by no means is Kleid bad. I really like his voice actually. It irritates me when people call Wyrd inferior because of his vocals.

Overall, Heathenreel is a better performance than Winter Wake. I really like Damna's vocals on Heathenreel, but I like the actual music on Wyrd better. They did a good job of mixing the sound of Wyrd that I like and Damna's vocals, but it just doesn't quite beat Heathenreel.

anyone heard ihsahns the adversary?

real good stuff, its extreme progressive, sorta like opeth but sorta not.

its not really power metal but its close, really well produced:thumb:

That is a terrific cd. Ihsahn is truly a terrific artist. The Pain Is Still Mine and Astera Ton Proinon are my favorite tracks (probably because i like symphonic music). I wouldn't really compare it to power metal at all though.

Stormrider 04-16-2006 09:11 PM

Elvinking was a band I meant to check out a loong time ago I think. Never happened. I should though...

Riva 04-16-2006 10:41 PM

Elvenking are really great. Stoic introduced me, as I remember.

NP: The Sword - Celestial Crown

Fantastic band, this.
Galloglass are so bloody cool. Anybody who confesses to like either of their albums is automatically my friend. :)
I love Galloglass and have both their albums, do i count as a friend?:p
Moondance I never really thought that good...one of the weaker tracks off of Oceanborn.
i actually thought Oceanborn was a pretty weak album all round (please dont hit me for that)

century child has recently become my favourite Nightwish album, due in large part to the cool bass riff after the guitar solo in 'end of all hope' and the pure awesomness that is 'dead to the world'

I havent heard of them surprisingly. They're a fairly new band according to Metal Archives. I wouldnt say no to any epic doom so I'd better listen to them...

They're not as epic doom as I would like them to be but anyways they're not bad. They just lack a little something I cannot define :-\

Man im loving Dream Evil's dragonslayer album, anyone recomend me which album to get next?

ArcLite 04-17-2006 05:55 AM

They're not Dream Evil, but if you have not yet acquired Lost Horizon's A Flame to the Ground Beneath or Firewind's Between Heaven and Hell, I recommend doing so. Those are my two latest power metal albums I've gotten and both are excellent.

Trev 04-17-2006 05:58 AM

^Yeah those two are both great albums. Firewind's Forged By Fire is a good album too.

As far as Dream Evil goes, I'd probably recommend Evilized next.

That rules muchly.

Resurrection, Insanity's Fall and I Am Death are the highlights from that album. For those first two, the extra speed owns.

Lord Abortion 04-17-2006 07:48 AM

Yeah, I hadn't really got into Ressurection as an album, but the live versions, as I have seen happen with so much music I listen to, really helps me get the studio album.

Ok.

/kicks you.

I honestly thought Century Child was their weakest album...it's got some killer songs, but there's a ridiculous amount of filler in it, IMO, much like Wishmaster. However, the moments in Wishmaster more than make up for the filler moments, while the moments in Century Child do not.

I maintain Oceanborn is still the best album the group has put out.

shadow_stalker 04-17-2006 10:15 AM

well to each his own i guess, btw the songs 'the forever moments' and 'long lost love', which album are they from? my computer says it is century child but im sure that is wrong

They need a little work, they're less doomy as I thought, but I do like them. I think they just need to focus on blending together as a band.

I love the live versions of Ressurection more than the studio versions, with the exception of Paradise.
