You could probably take my word for it. :thumb:

Only I'm on vocals, and I'm not too sure how the style is gunna sit with the rest of the guys when they hear it.
they not heard your vocals yet? thats always a shit. it takes a hell of a lot courage to sing infront of your mates for the first time, more than it does to a crowd.

^^if they have heard you, my post = completely irrelevant :smoke:

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:22 AM

Yeah, well they've heard em, but these are completely different. Crazy insane vocals, which may take a fair amount of courage. Yeah, funny straining facial expressions included.

Iai 12-22-2004 08:25 AM

I spent most of this morning trying to figure out how to play a few songs on The Holy Bible, by watching the live performances on the DVD of the re-issue. The cameramen for these performances suck and keep looking at the drummer during the tricky fills.

sounds interesting* ;) what genre of music are you? at a guess... i would say alternative/indie, but some examples to compare to might be nice. :smoke:

*painfully amusing

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:28 AM
so there is no relevant difference in sound quality?
Yeah, there is a difference. Record players have that crackly sound. But, I mean, if you buy vinyl you can only listen to it on the record player. It's tough freakin luck if you wanna take it somewhere and listen to it. Silly. Technology can be good.

Tricky fills? the manics? are you sure? :smoke:

I dunno, the songs have a bit of a range. I guess what we have made so far is somewhere around Fugazi/The Bronx/Interpol/The International Noise Conspiracy.

Just crazy fun stuff. I'm writing lyrics about fictional stuff. The song I finished today was about the character Johnny chasing a man in order to kill him.

INC were so good at Leeds. the frontman has some interesting charisma, although he might be a little too flexible for the crowds good. fictional stuff is ok to write about imo, but it's difficult if you're trying to put a serious point across. lacks emotion (at the risk of sounding "emo") :smoke:

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:39 AM

Eh, I don't want emotion that much for this band. It can still be very emotional though. I mean, have you not ever seen an emotional movie? Eh? Eh?

i saw them live too, but i think they are just too loud. all the songs start to sound the same from a certain point.

emotional movies. me? nononono, i don't do emotional movies. :is too cool :smoke::

/unless you're counting 'my girl'

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:49 AM

Yeah but I mean it doesnt have to make you weep to be great music. Waheyyyy

Never heard The Holy Bible, have you?

But if you do it while wearing tight shirts and pants then at least you'll get chicks.

Or guys.

Whichever you prefer.
Never heard The Holy Bible, have you?
That reminds me of something... I was going back to home from the band rehearsal with my bandmates and somebody stopped me on the road. The conversation was like:

Guy: "Do you speak English?"
Friend: "Yes."
Guy: "Let me tell you a secret about the Holy Bible."
Friend: "Sorry, I'm irreligious."

and we walked on....

I'm sorry, I'm just so bored. I'm doing a John Mayer review right now... and probably do another review this night.. I have a christmas vacation, and it's nice to have vacations out of no reason. But it's also boring.

Iai 12-22-2004 10:21 AM

I'm doing* a Buck 65 review.

*not, but I should be

Happymeal 12-22-2004 10:40 AM

I'm doing Straylight Run next, and trying not to get flamed too much
The real question is though...was that the geekiest sentence in the history of these forums? :upset:
I've seen worse. Don't be too inconfident.
I'm trying to work out what genre The Beautiful South are... I think Alternative/Pop sounds suitably vague. :-/

Adult Alternative? Adult Pop? Dad-Rock?

What one are you doing? Better not be Solid Bronze......

Zappa 12-22-2004 11:14 AM

Mmmm, Gumbo.

Iai 12-22-2004 11:47 AM

Nice.

To both the above posts.

I just finished some canneloni. Italians suck at life, but they have good food.

Edit: And better opera. :)

Zappa 12-22-2004 11:56 AM

Wow, racists aren't cool.

Iai 12-22-2004 11:59 AM

That's why I don't like Italians. They're the most racist group of people on Earth.

Also sexist.

Phunphone 12-22-2004 12:51 PM

/ me is done with my John Mayer review

theredwonder 12-22-2004 12:55 PM
Never heard The Holy Bible, have you?
i have indeed. if fact i own it. lyrically a great album, but i'm not a big fan of manic's music. and i really wouldn't call the drumming complex, not compared to say... Dave Weckl. :smoke:

/leaves to go and see 'the incredibles'

Iai 12-22-2004 01:44 PM

I was talking about tricky guitar fills. Why the hell would I be annoyed that it cuts to the drummer during the tricky fills if I was a drummer?

Master Arkam Kannon 12-22-2004 02:23 PM

i'm half italian and i really dont like italians, mostly based on the fact that they have to be right about everything, much like the irish. but i think by far, the worst are the jews and anyone catholic.

Iai 12-22-2004 02:29 PM

You know, when I posted that about Italians, my exact thoughts were 'Actually, the Irish are just as bad'. And I'm half Irish. Wierd.

Zappa 12-22-2004 04:58 PM

So I cleaned my room today. Because I am a TOTAL dork, I have before and after photos. They can be found here:
