Yep. Hendrix would be a music god. He was the greatest guitarist of his time and took guitar playing to new heights. If he was born about 30 years ago he would be the greatest guitarist of all time.

Yea Electric Ladyland has All Along the Watchtower, my absolute, favorite Hendrix song. Ever. Its amazing. I like that album.

As for rock gods, Clapton and Hendrix fit well, and maybe Morrison. He definently had the charisma.

I'm assuming what you're talking about is Band of Gypsys, and we already had an argument on which was better in this thread.

This thread is refreshing after being in the guitar forum and seeing a bunch of people bash Hendrix until there is no tommorow.

That's because they are all metal freaks who don't know anything outsde of power chords.

People criticize too much. Here, if it sounds good, like it. Hendrix's is good, everyone knows it. Leave it at that.

I'd say Robert Plant was a music god just because of stage presence. And we came to the conclusion awhile ago that Electric Ladyland was better than Band of Gypsys.

I had an argument with two others in here a couple of weeks ago about it, and nobody was backing me up.

'Little Wing' is probably my favorite Jimi Hendrix song, just the softness and slow emotional flutter of it all. It sounds so great, that I'm disappointed it's not all that long. Oh well, there's always Stevie Ray Vaughan's version for that :)

I only have Jimi's Woodstock performance, but I want Live at Berkeley Palace - anybody know if it's any good?

I wasn't talking about talent wise, but people viewed him as a god on stage.

Oh and the Live at Berkely CD is amazing. The best Hendrix live CD I've heard.

All the songs are such good quality though, and it's the only live CD with Pass it On(Straight Ahead) on it, which makes the whole CD awesome.

Sounds good, I'll probably check it out pretty soon. However, I got a lot of Dylan, Doors, and Floyd today for my birthday, so I might have to listen through that. :)

Keith Moon = Rock God

David Gilmour perhaps? That guy could reach new planes with his guitar playing. The emotion, the pyschadelic feel, and the melody were all there in all of his solos.

When you think about it, all of The Who are Rock Gods. Unbelievable showey, talented, unique drummer. Unique, ground breaking bassist, genious writer, and good guitarist/vocalist. And one of the most powerful and greatest frontmen.

Well, the bassist wasn't really a rock god. He was definitely very talented, but he didn't go into the limelight much, he just stood still and played his part. Townsend was definitely a great showman along with Keith and Roger. Those three together were rock gods perhaps, but I just think John was a little too stiff to be a 'rock god'.

Pretty much, yea. There's no denying any of their talent or live performances. Destroying all their gear helped too, I guess.

Well they certainly were worshiped like gods back in the day. And they played a huge part in the british invastion.

Yep I guess they are. plus they hold the record for loudest concert ;) (poor pete and his ear thing though).

I guess, but as far as Classic Rock bassists go he is definitely one of best. Maybe by himself he wasn't a god, but on stage with the Who I think he was.

For Entwistle it's not about the showmanship. He's the backbone of The Who, and probably the greatest Classic Rock bassist, and probably one of the most influential bassists ever. He has done so much for bass playing it's crazy.

Oh, I wasn't denying his influence at all. He is a tremendous player with wide influence and playing ability. When I think of a rock god however I think of somebody with more of an electrifying or strong personality. He was more hidden and out of the picture.

It's a shame bassists are overlooked so much. Up with John Entwhistle, Jack Bruce, and John Paul Jones.
