 Sweet job :thumb:
I had two books (Used) come in today. ------------------------------------ A biography of Quentin Tarantino Life of Pi
Oh I love Life of Pi. It's a good book. Does anyone think that Jake Holmes' version of Dazed and Confused is better than Led Zeppelins? I think the only thing that really makes Zeppelins version better is Bonhams drumming, other than that I like the original. |
I don't really like Plant's voice, so I like the original version better.
/runs |
there is no Danny Allman to my knowledge.
He is actually the first guitarist. He died from alcohol poisoning :smoke: |
I don't really like Plant's voice, so I like the original version better.
/runs
I can understand that. Does anyone know what year Jake Holmes recorded Dazed and Confused? I think his solo is way better, it's a lot trippier (surprisingly) than Pages solo. |
Dazed and Confused movie > Dazed and Confused song
I hav enever seen or heard the movie, but when did it come out? :smoke: |
in late 80's wasnt it?
:smoke:
How could it be late 80's when Zep's version came out in '69? Jake Holmes did the original version. Duane Allman was the first guitarist, did you mean him? He died in a motorcycle accident. |

Duane Allman was the first guitarist, did you mean him? He died in a motorcycle accident.
Yeah, was it alcohol influenced though? All I remembered was alcohol. :smoke: |

I suggest you see that movie, it's a classic. Question for anyone who has seen ABB this summer: Who's in the line-up? |
Yeah, was it alcohol influenced though? All I remembered was alcohol.
:smoke:
It might have been, it's very possible.
Question for anyone who has seen ABB this summer: Who's in the line-up?
I haven't seen them yet (this weekend :) ) but I'm pretty sure it's Gregg, Butch, Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, and that hispanic percussionist. |
Jake Holmes original version was in 1967 I think.
Brettberry, you don't know very much about the Allman Brothers. Congrats to everyone and their name changes. Didn't Berry Oakley also die in a motorcycle accident? |
I have a bed time k? My parents were too drunk to send me to bed last night and they went to sleep early.
Yes, i'm 17, that's sad. :(
wow, sucks to be you. |
Who's Slug?
Who's Slug?
ATM/Chris. I think I'm going to miss the ATM abbreviation. Motorcycles pwned the Allmans :( |
ATM/Chris. I think I'm going to miss the ATM abbreviation.
I'll probably still call him ATM because it's cooler. |
ATM was cooler.
I hav enever seen or heard the movie, but when did it come out?
:smoke:
You've never even heard of Dazed and Confused? I think it came out sometime in the nineties. It's a great movie. I don't think they smoked enough pot in that movie though, it was the seventies for god sakes. edit - JPJ you got a namechange too? Congratulations! |
Brettberry, you don't know very much about the Allman Brothers.
I am not taking offense to that because it is a band my mother likes, not me. I have heard so much about them and other bands she liked I may get a little mixed up in a while. (Embarrassed of ignorance on allman's topic) :smoke: |
I've got to go to bed at a respectable time, I guess, for my job at the mini-putt. Sport of kings, that.
Arlo Guthrie, anyone? I want to get into his work.
 he's got some good and funny stuff. |
I wasn't trying to offend you, I'm just used to everyone knowing a lot about the Allmans in here.
Edit:To BB. |
I wasn't trying to offend you, I'm just used to everyone knowing a lot about the Allmans in here.
To BB.
its all good man, I come here to learn. :smoke: ps) I am 28 years old and half the people in here are teenagers and know more about music than me. |

I'm in an unsigned band (we just play small time stuff). And I teach guitar too, at a local music school. I con old ladies for spare money. edit- and your usertitle is misleading. |
ATM/Chris. I think I'm going to miss the ATM abbreviation.
Motorcycles pwned the Allmans :(
Yes they did. Terrible way to go, that :( np: Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light |
Everyone should vote for Entwistle in the bassit poll. I wish he at least had a chance to win.

I'm really freakin pissed off about this so called folk-metal. Not because I don't like metal, but because I like folk music and I don't like to see the word misused. People seems to think if a metal band throws in an occasional acoustic guitar and the odd flutes or violins they are suddenly a folk metal band.
Folk music isn't even about the music, it's purely about the words. I was reading in the FG about folk-metal and I even downloaded a few songs and I have no clue why in the hell this is considered "folk" metal. Just because they dress up like Robin Hood doesn't mean they are at all similar to folk. Does Woody Guthrie dress up like someone from The Legend of Zelda, wear a sword, and sing about enchanced forests and crap like that. It's not bad music at all, I actually liked the songs...I just don't see how it is (in any sense) tied in with folk music. edit- Of course I'm saying this in Classic Rock, not because I'm hoping you guys will all agree with me and say metals dumb and stuff, just because most of you are the people I normally talk to...and no one would really care if I posted this in the folk-metal thread. They would just tell me to shut up. |
Maybe it's Folk as in Celtic/viking/etc. folk rather than American folk, if that makes any sense.
