Let's Chop Cats! 04-07-2005 04:32 PM

1/3 of the bands in that poll aren't pop-punk.

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:35 PM

I went and voted for actual pop-punk bads and good albums. What was with the influx of MCR on there?

El_Shiznit 04-07-2005 04:36 PM

MCR are the new craze.

And if you noticed, only a third of the bands on the 100 punk albums of all time were actually punk.

Let's Chop Cats! 04-07-2005 04:37 PM

And I still protest that aswell.

El_Shiznit 04-07-2005 04:39 PM

Meh, things are easy going in that forum. Pretty much whatever can be discussed in there can be included. How do expect to get 75 great albums out of a subgenre?

TheBouncingSoul 04-07-2005 04:40 PM
MCR are the new craze.
I don't see why either. I see nothing in them that really sets them apart from every other pop-punk band out there. I guess its because they are on TV, all the 13 year old girls think they must be punk, to be on TV.

Thats my thoughts.

I can't believe what some people think is pop-punk or punk these days

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:44 PM

MCR doesnt sound like pop-punk or punk to me, it sounds like screaming pop-rock. Why can't popular bands be at least semi decent. Half the bands from the nu-metal craze were at least listenable.

El_Shiznit 04-07-2005 04:45 PM

I haven't heard much MCR to be honest. But from what I have heard, it's a good thing.

POINTLESS5448 04-07-2005 04:45 PM

rise againt is decent.

albert_bass 04-07-2005 04:46 PM

People on the pop-punk forum are very core like James said, and not many people like pop-punk as we know it. I miss albums from Lagwagon, No use for a name, Pulley, 88 fingers louie, Bad astronaut, midtown, no fun at all, screeching weasel, strung out, zero down... etc.

But what can I do? People vote what they vote so that's how it goes.

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:47 PM

I got someobody in my school into Rise Against because I said they were the only decent band on Warped, talking out of my arse of course. But he said he listened to them and though they were decent.

Let's Chop Cats! 04-07-2005 04:47 PM

People are stupid. That forum should become a Pop-Rock forum and real pop-punk should be in here. Mainly so I don't have to go into there to talk about.

El_Shiznit 04-07-2005 04:49 PM

A lot of Rise Against is pretty accessible.

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:49 PM

Most of the stuff they like is really crap. I like the pop-punk Alby was talking about, that is good stuff. Most of the people in there are the stereotypical definition of an emo kid (not the real person who listens to emo, but the one that people listen to emo.) I don't like it there.

POINTLESS5448 04-07-2005 04:50 PM

the pop punk forum should jsut be a pop forum.

My two favorite pure pop-punk CD's didn't make it, and there isn't a chance in hell The Art Of Drowning will win so I really don't care much anymore. Just a bit o' fun.

And I agree with you Reiner.

You like it because it's real pop-punk.

Yup. I like it more than actual punk some days.

True. Actually I thought about doing the list in here but I didn't find it fair for the pop-punk forum...
Yup. I like it more than actual punk some days.
I only listened to that last year and before... Now I'm into punk a lot but I know that when I'm sick of it I'll go back to that.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 04-07-2005 04:52 PM

It's true. And you notice when they talk about Rise against in there all your hear is them talking about the most poppy songs, for example hardly anyone likes state of the union in there from the new album

What were your two favourite pop-punk CDs?

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:54 PM

I think if pop-punk was moved here, it would be good. But there would be a war again between the people who listen to good music (us mainly) and people who list to crappy pop-rock and s'hitcore (most of the pop-punk regulars)

Let's Chop Cats! 04-07-2005 04:54 PM

State of the Union > Their whole new album
What were your two favourite pop-punk CDs?
Mind you, I'm speaking PURE pop-punk....

The two Swingin' Utters albums that were nominated. Neither made it through. They are my favorite to listen to. Not great in terms of impact (yet) but they are really fun records.

thats my favorite song on their new album too. alot of kids at my school like rise against but really all they have heard is give it all and and some of their other poppy songs and if they have heard a song like state of the union they dont like it.

Brain Toad 04-07-2005 04:56 PM

I've listened to much Swingin' Utters, but what I heard was pretty good. I hear people talk of Lagwagon, but I've never taken the time to get into them.

El_Shiznit 04-07-2005 04:56 PM

State of the Union was effin' amazing live. I didn't think they would play it because they didn't last time and I was a bit disappointed. But yeah, it was wonderful.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 04-07-2005 04:56 PM
State of the Union > Their whole new album
Exactly. To be honest i was a bit disappointed with that CD, it still has a couple of good tracks but (especially lyrically) it was lacking something from RPM.

Swinging Utters have some great tunes and a lot of average ones a think. I like how their sound is so original though, they difinately should've made the final 75. Look at some of the sh!t that's on there, Something Corporate etc

albert_bass 04-07-2005 04:57 PM

I don't listen that much to RA. I was a lot into The Unravelling and RPM and they were my fave albums for weeks but now I get sick of them. I still think they're great now anyway.
