Alright, I'll try to send it out tonight.
Cool.

Badmoon: Thanks for Buzz or Howl, Mike Watt is such a beast.

PinkFreud 11-20-2005 08:51 PM

yes! finally! thanks so much for this badmoon.

jpj 11-20-2005 08:55 PM

It's also great because I started listening to it at 9:45 and it'll be over by 10:00 :p

short songs++

TheDMV 11-20-2005 09:04 PM
flight of the rat is an awesome song.

i have the complete bitches brew sessions but i didnt pay for it.
I have, or someone in family etc. has, paid for 90% of all the music
I own. now that YSI has been outlawed, I no longer receive music, because the only e-mail adress I have is my school one, and I'm not sure that'll work.

In other news:

Kashmir is one of the few LZ songs that never bores no matter how many times I hear it. It's an epic piece with all those instruments in it and the lyrics are fascinating, yet perplexing. Greatest of all, perhaps, it is an any mood song. For the most part now, I find that the first Classic rock bands I like bore me (Zep, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix).

JonG 11-20-2005 09:07 PM

I sent out Born Under A Bad Sign :)

Woot thanks 'moon for more Minutemen.

Can't you make a hotmail or gmail account or something?

Zeppelin started to bore me a while ago, and I didn't listen to them for a long time. I'm starting to ease up a little though, and giving them another shot. But I know what you mean about Kashmir. I can always listen to that song when it comes on the radio, no matter what mood I'm in.

Badmoon 11-20-2005 09:22 PM

I just sent another album out.

Really? I'm not that big a fan of Kashmir. I can listen to it anytime it comes on the radio, and I won't skip it's track, but I always felt it dragged on a little too long. I was actually conversing with a co-worker about this and we both thought that Kashmir should be about 3 minutes shorter and the Immigrant Song should be at least 3 minutes longer..

PinkFreud 11-21-2005 12:49 AM

i'm not a huge fan of kashmir but i can listen to the lemon song for hours on end.

i actually have mentions in the best r&mers! im so happy!

clapton is a god... :hammer: i love this thread

Lunch 11-21-2005 11:55 AM

Entwislte is God. The bass solo in 5:15 on the new Dvd is incredible.

I haven't posted in this thread in a long time.

thickasabrick 11-21-2005 12:30 PM

Were you planning on seeing him? How come you aren't now?

I wanna see him soooo badly. I'd give my left testicle just to see him, he doesn't even have to play any music.

np: Woody Guthrie - Pretty Boy Floyd.
clapton is a god... :hammer: i love this thread
Clapton = Not God

I honestly don't get why anyone would hail him as a "god" or a good guitarist for that matter. He is a very average talented guitarist. I could think of 20 names right off the top of my head that are much better. I mean the guy doesn't even deserve to get compared to the likes of Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck but whenever someone's talking about the great guitarists of the 60's somehow he always gets mentioned. I have yet to see why. I've listened to 2Cream albums, Blind Faith, 2 solo albums, live album with the Yardbirds, bootleg of him and Duane Allman and Layla and I have yet to see anything that prooves him to be better than the average guitarist.

NP: Do Re Mi - Woody Guthrie

thickasabrick 11-21-2005 12:54 PM

I wouldn't say he's a God. But I'd say he's definitely a good guitarist. I like him best with Cream, and his guitar playing with Cream isn't like super-astounding...but there isn't anything overly "average" about it. I don't really listen to his music for the guitar playing anyways, I just like the songs.

In terms of guitar playing I prefer Page, I think he's a lot more interesting to watch/listen to. Clapton was kinda....simple. I actually prefer Dylan's guitar playing to Clapton's, Dylan uses simplicity to his advantage, Clapton doesn't seem to be aware that after about 1966 everyone had seen guitar players as good or better than him. It seems he never really progressed or expanded as a guitarist after the 60's.

edit - Why the **** would you give it to your brother? Unless he has a terrible illness I don't know about (if he does, I apoligize), he doesn't deserve to go see Dylan any more than you do. You shoulda gave it to me!

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-21-2005 01:07 PM

Page was 10 times better than Clapton but I'd much rather listen to Clapton. Page was actualy quite a good psychedelic guitarist.......anyone heard "Sunshine Superman"?

NP: Dazed and Confused - Yardbirds (<--good example)

I still haven't stopped hating my freind for seeing him last year...

So, who else has half days for Thanksgiving week? Nothing better than getting off school for the most pointless holidy ever! :)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-21-2005 01:13 PM

Half days? I get the whole week off. :p

Even if Dylan stops by Houston, I'm not going to see him. I don't have the money and Dylan doesn't put on a good show anymore.

Even if Dylan doesn't put on a good show, I'd still pay huge amounts to see him.
As opposed to what?
Catch a Fire? I sent it out. Did you get it?
Exodus is my personal favorite Bob Marley album
Yea, Exodus is a good album; it's probably my second favorite. "The Heathen" is a great song.

zabbit82 11-21-2005 03:36 PM

I have Bob Marley's Legend and I like everything on it that's off of Exodus. Is it worth a buy?

Illmatic 11-21-2005 03:37 PM

I forgot my password to that e-mail address :( so no I didn't, but I already have it :)

Off of Exodus, "Waiting in Vain" and the title track are my favorites off of it (and probably two of my five favorite Marley tracks overall). But "The Heathen" is terrific as well.

EDIT: Exodus is definitely worth a purchase, it's the strongest Marley/Wailers studio album IMO

PinkFreud 11-21-2005 03:39 PM

Sweet, I'll get it sometime.

NP: Van Halen - Mean Street. I love this album :thumb:

magicbus 11-21-2005 03:42 PM

"Waiting In Vain" is one of my favorite Marley songs, let alone my favorite off Exodus.

For fans of John Mayer's guitar work, his new album, Try!, comes out tomorrow. It's a live blues/jazz influenced album, so hopefully it will showcase more of his talent than his radio friendly songs did.

The only review I could find so far.

PinkFreud 11-21-2005 04:39 PM
