Their mega-fans are terrible too, people who hype them only because they're so "original" or because they associate the difficulty of music as the main insignia of quality.

Arcturus is interesting, only really enjoyable in small doses imo.

They are like Opeth for me. They were one of those bands I loved when I was getting heavily into music 7 years ago and I respect them and all that shit but I probably will never listen to them again.

I'd choose Sigh over Arcturus but I don't listen to either and never really got into them at any point.

boring incoherency is honestly my biggest pet peeve with music. i'm fine with stuff like zorn because he has no inhibitions about playing everything in a minute long song while it still remains memorable, but my arguments for sigh and the most of the rest of that crop of "Avant-garde metal" bands stands

maudlin of the well, kayo dot (if you can consider them such), ved buens ende, quest for blood (Definitely qfb), mr. bungle, faith no more, thy catafalque, pan.thymonium, azure emote (they're not very great either but still they're better).
