Ok , i didnt even sign up as a member when this convo started , well , at least my post wasnt crappy. |
Tales of Brave Ulysses = Future power metal lyrics.
I'll agree with that. I'd also say Immigrant Song. Hendrix started using the wah after he heard it in a Frank Zappa song. |
Communication Breakdown and Out on the Tiles are metal-ish also.
Edit: Hey I got my Merge, and so did Malcom. Drinks all around. |
Edit: We should move the Zeppelin talk to the Zeppelin thread before 'Poon gets pissy at us and forces us to download more country-rock.
I don't even complain about them anymore. Schyma even dislikes them more than I do. |
Clapton started with the wah. Jimi heard clapton doing the wah, and loved and used it in his own stuff, however cream's album was delayed in being released so everyone ended up hearing hendrix do it first and it became "his thing" instead of clapton's, who really deserves more credit for it than he gets.
Actaully i don't think that Clapton really used wah, he just figured out how to distort by using on amp to pre-amp the signal then use another to amp it, kinda like the pre-amp, master-vol knobs on todays amp. I'm pretty sure Jimi either was the first to use wah or picked up the idea from somone other then Clapton. |
lol 'Poon lol tahts a goud 1
gaypj still pwns it |
Clapton's biggest wah experiment was Tales of Brave Ulysses.

Back to music , Ive got a Question , for anyone who knows , what happened to AC/DCs first bass player , i dont play bass , but i always wondered what happened to him.
|
They kicked him out for sucking, got a new one, then hired him again later because you can't even hear the bass in AC/DC songs anyways.
/that may or may not be true |

That's nice, but you're wrong. He did use wah. He wasn't the first but he did use it.
Eric Clapton first played wah-wah with Cream on "Tales of Brave Ulysses" on the Disraeli Gears
|

It's always been Cliff Williams hasn't it? I think you're talking about the drummer. Phil Rudd was their best one, in my opinion. There's an AC/DC thread wandering around here somewhere, they should have more answers than us. |
Hendrix was the first building block for metal. (IMO)

Don't make a new one, whatever you do. There's already one floating around and you'll be banned. Edit: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227796 That's for the AC/DC thread. |

I just got back from the Chicago show. EW&F=teh suck, but Chicago was good. They would've been better had they played at the proper volume, I couldn't even hear some of the guitar solos.
|

I'd agree, because of his use of distortion. You know who I don't hear enough talk about here? The Kinks and Janis Joplin. np: The Doors - Riders On The Storm |
The Kinks are alright. Janis Joplin is alright too, better with Jefferson Airplane than solo.
Riders on the storm is awesome. /there's my lazy late night commentary. |
