Lol.

NP: Drudkh

Liking it better than before, though Blood of Kingu is the coolest project by Saenko. But the atmosphere of The First Snow is amazing.

FatalEnergy 12-18-2007 12:37 AM

I'm listening to Lurker of Chalice, and I'm actually liking it.

Weird.

At least it's more LLN-ish and not like that stupid Suicidal Depressive Xasthur crap.

Autumn Aurora is one of my favorite albums ever, every song is practically flawless in my eyes.

Eww LoC :o

Silenius 12-18-2007 12:40 AM

The full length? I very much dislike that one, I find the demo to be an alright industrial/ambient/noise release.

Steve - yeah Autumn Aurora is very good. I don't like the newer stuff though. Just FL and AA for me.

Actually, you're right, the first two songs I liked, but this third one is completely atrocious.

This is my first time listening to it.

Ehh, I can understand why you might not be into their later stuff, but i love BIOW and Estrangement a lot.

I think I could take LoC a little more serious if the vocals weren't ridiculous sounding mumbles.

FatalEnergy 12-18-2007 12:46 AM

Yeah, this does kind of suck. I really liked those first two songs, but it turns to crap after that.

Oh well, it's USBM couldn't expect much less.

Valhall 12-18-2007 12:47 AM

There's good USBM bands; you just have to come across them by chance.

I really like Winterthrall, though I've mentioned them before and nobody seemed to enjoy them.

Silenius 12-18-2007 12:49 AM

Yeah Wrest doesn't produce the best vocals tbh. He has that mumbly style that is somewhat due to production.

Haven't heard Estrangement but BIOW didn't click with me, wasn't anything interesting to me.

FatalEnergy 12-18-2007 12:52 AM

Leviathan is okay.

I can actually listen to them. Wrest isn't quite as high on the gay-o-meter as Malefic.

Angmar 12-18-2007 12:52 AM

There's a chance you could enjoy Estrangement, it's like, sort of in the vein of Autumn Aurora with more soloing and audible bass. The songs are a good deal longer too with more repetition kinda like The Swan Road or Forgotten Legends, give it a try sometime, but I'm not gonna promise you'll enjoy it.

Man, thanks for talking about Blood of Kingu, seriously, amazing stuff. I don't like it more though.

and AA >>> Estrangement >> Forgotten Legends >> The Swan Road >> Blood in Our Wells >> Anti-Urban = Songs Of Grief & Solitude

Angmar 12-18-2007 01:00 AM

Yeah, that Blood of Kingu is ace. Better than the new Astrofaes or anything Hate Forest ever did.

Silenius 12-18-2007 01:00 AM

I'll check out Estrangement. Drudkh is growing on my fast. :D

Does the synth in "The First Snow" remind you of "Tomhet"?

Angmar 12-18-2007 01:03 AM

Yeah kinda, I love "The First Snow" though, I really could go on and on about why I love that album. :p

Valhall 12-18-2007 01:04 AM

Just got a couple of Dissection albums; I've been putting off checking them out. Will listen soon after I'm done with this Nachtfalke.

Yeah first two albums are where it's at. I like the Swan Road and Blood our Wells too though. Song of Grief and Solitude was a huge disappointment and sucks hard. I didn't really like Estrangement, but then again I've only listened to it once or twice. The main thing I remember is the drums sounded awful.

FatalEnergy 12-18-2007 01:09 AM

Just now?

The Somberlain and Storm of the Light's Bane are cool. So are all the early demos and EPs.

The newer stuff licks balls.

Silenius 12-18-2007 01:10 AM

Dissection was mandatory listening back when you were getting into extreme metal, you're getting them a bit late haha.

I remember that the guitar solos kinda were lame and interfered with the atmosphere on the newer stuff.

NP: Dub Buk

Against Miik! 12-18-2007 01:10 AM

I don't get black metal

Valhall 12-18-2007 01:10 AM

Yea, I got The Somberlain and The Past is Alive (Early Mischief).

I've been busy getting other bands. My list is a mile long. Sue me.

Lol.

Against Miik! 12-18-2007 01:15 AM

I'm being serious.

FatalEnergy 12-18-2007 01:16 AM

What's not to get?

Valhall 12-18-2007 01:16 AM

I just got a bunch of new albums from Nachtfalke, Winds of Torment, Necromantia, Catamenia, Nightkarnation, older Old Man's Child, Vlad Tepes, Wintersun, Behexen, old Bethlehem, Dissection, and Inquisition.

Should keep me busy for a while.

Silenius 12-18-2007 01:18 AM

Wintersun is insanely good though not black metal at all.

NP: Vordven - Harness of Heaven (recommended for Summoning Fans!)

Uhh...Dissection, Inquisition, Necromantia, and Vlad are cool. The rest are horrible.

Against Miik! 12-18-2007 01:19 AM

I just don't get what people like about it. I'm into certain types of metal. I dig the insensity. I like the groove that some bands have.

Valhall 12-18-2007 01:19 AM

I'm really enjoying Nachtfalke....what don't you like about them?

@Fatal

Silenius 12-18-2007 01:19 AM

Most people generally like the atmosphere, as ambiguous as that may sound.

I don't know. They're generic I guess.

I've heard it all before.

TojesDolan 12-18-2007 01:22 AM

Meh, their hobbitish tracks like feathers fell (I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT TITLE SO FORGIVE ANY LITTLE ERROR) and such from the somberlain are kind of awesome

Valhall 12-18-2007 01:23 AM

[QUOTE=FatalEnergy;15700652]I don't know. They're generic I guess.

It's incredibly hard to do something in the genre that has never been done before, methinks. That's my biggest roadblock...and probably why my newer stuff is deemed as "too generic".

That's why a lot of bands will never become popular.

People who like metal just do, there's nothing to understand about it. I like it because it's aggressive.

It's hard to be original. Everybody has done everything already.

I thought if I put breakdowns in BM, that would be original, but that didn't fly
