basically i was brought up on Maiden and i feel as a former fan that musically they aint progressed in the same way that Pantera or Machinehead have/did. And Bruce's voice in just embarrasing, that said Paul Di'anno had a very good Bon Scott vocal thing goin on. I just think they released 4 superb albums but should give it a rest.
Best songs are : Transylvannia, Number of The Beast, The Trooper, Iron Maiden and rime of the ancient mariner(?). Just sayin they had there day and now they just churn out the same stuff.

ashman 01-10-2005 04:21 PM
Btw its joe. They are awesome live, i saw em only a few months ago, they will tour agen!
How did you get banned?

Arucard 01-10-2005 04:25 PM

Agreeing with someone who flamed a noob. And brooksy, how can you say maiden chrun out the same stuff when you use Pantera and Machinehead as examples, they both sound/ed the same through out there career! And your not a hardcore fan if you think those (all of the most mainstream songs, expect mariner, which you could have just picked of the last page). Re-evaluate them by listening to stuff like Revelations,
The Prisoner, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Murders In The Rue Morgue and similar songs.
No I disagree ! For me Paul was their best singer and Clive was their best drummer ! And their first two albums zwn all of the rest albums
Nicko is better than Clive ever was.

what r u on about a bon scott vocal thing paul dianno had a much deeper voice than bon scott dianno couldnt hit note as hgih as bon could

Deep voice doesn't equal limited vocal range. I know plenty of baritones who can sing falsetto, (heck I'm one of them). Paul DiAnno could hit the high notes as well as anyone, including Bon Scott (who didn't really hit that many high notes at all, just tenor/alto ones).

YDload 01-10-2005 05:43 PM

Here's a new topic for discussion: What Maiden songs have you noticed that sound like other bands' songs?

I think the verse in "Flight of Icarus" sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Thunder Fingers 01-10-2005 06:22 PM

the trooper = Black Sabbath - paranoid...

MAthiAS 01-10-2005 06:41 PM

I don't know about other bands' songs, but The Clansmen sounds like an elaboration of Dance of Death (the bass riff)... actually, because of time, I suppose DoD would sound like a simplification of The Clansmen.

Oh yeah, South of Heaven sounds like Seasons of the Abyss, not that thats really relevant.

thelittledrummerboy 01-10-2005 08:36 PM

The solo in "the fallen angel" sounds a little similar to some of the things that ozzy osbourne/zack wylde usually do.

KingOfSka 01-10-2005 09:40 PM

What does everyone think of the "No More Lies" video

Thunder Fingers 01-11-2005 03:42 AM

im sorry guys.. im so sorry... :cries: *goes hiding* if you want to deauthoritirize.. go a hed...

Haha.....well I am beginning to believe more in that "Geddy-the-trooper" comment I heard someone say :p . Nothing will take away my vote for Maiden though.

GurS 01-11-2005 02:16 PM

page 200, guys!

Josh 01-11-2005 02:16 PM

wow. only 466 to go til the big 1. lol. i think when i first started posting here we were at about 120 or so, but i'm not sure.

GurS 01-11-2005 02:19 PM

I started posting around 40-ish

Lord Abortion 01-11-2005 04:35 PM

well, cover me in eggs and flour and bake me for 40 minutes...
page 200,eh?
anyhow, enough stealing lines from blackadder,
Blaze is a much better singer than Paul and, crucially, in his own solo career, frontman
he realy wasn't that good a maiden live performer from what I have seen but remember this is a man who's only tour experience before 7 month long tours with maiden was 3 weeks round the U.K with wolfsbane...
we really shouldn't judge a great vocallist on his two maiden tours, or on V11 instead listen to his incredible vocals on x-factor and agree with me...

Arucard 01-11-2005 04:38 PM

Yes, but the crucial thing with Blaize is that he really didnt pull Maiden together like Bruce did when D'ianno left. He could have been alot better than he was.

Lord Abortion 01-11-2005 04:44 PM

he was more than a little overawed at joining such a massive band and I feel so sorry for him as he did nothing to warrant his leaving
he was really unlucky that bruce wanted to come back and he was out of the band like that... he took it so graciously and just accepted it like a man ...
which is admirable and why I defend him so much...

ForiegnPenguin 01-11-2005 05:05 PM

Yeah, he was a great singer too. After much thought, voted Powerslave.

acefrehleyjendell 01-11-2005 06:15 PM

i got Virtual XI yesterday and i really enjoy it alot.
i think futureal is probably the worst song on it though.

opeth_oasis 01-12-2005 04:58 AM

I had different views on this album. its probably their worst album, with Futureal being the best song on the album. What do you guys think of the song Virus? I don't think it is up to Maiden standard, but hey thats just my opinion.

Best Maiden Songs- Powerslave, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Number Of the Beast, Aces High, Prowler, Be Quick Or Be Dead and Holy Smoke.

Thunder Fingers 01-12-2005 05:04 AM

Yey! Birthday.. :p

Josh 01-12-2005 05:48 AM

today?

Thunder Fingers 01-12-2005 05:51 AM
today?
yeh.

Lord Abortion 01-12-2005 06:54 AM

don't like virus much but V11 is a decent album but not as good as X-factor, best songs on V11 are- lightning strikes twice, Futureal,. when two worlds collide, como estatos amigos
I dont like the clansman or angel and the gambler album versions though the single of the latter was shortened and better...

Happy birthday Eddie!!!

Lord Abortion 01-12-2005 06:56 AM

would give b'day reppage but I
"must spread some reputation around before giving it to Eddie-the trooper again"

I actually like Virus. The video is crap though.

Lord Abortion 01-12-2005 07:12 AM

ahhh it's OK but there are much better blaze songs
i.e the whole of X-Factor...

acefrehleyjendell 01-12-2005 07:16 AM

Yeah the x factor is my favourite non bruce album.

i think the best song on their would either be man on the edge or lord
of the flies.

Thunder Fingers 01-12-2005 07:35 AM
I'll take some :D . Happy Birthday man. What Maiden song will you dedicate to the day Eddie?
Hmmm.. Hallowed be thy name... aawsome song.. when i think through what i have heard today, thats the one i remember :p

Lord Abortion 01-12-2005 08:27 AM

listening to night of the stormrider by iced earth... one word -awesome
yesterday was a day for X-factor and megadeth's countdown to extinction
