Foxfire 09-03-2004 08:17 AM

Bleh.

I woke up at 9:00 today (normally I wake up at like 11 or 12) so I could take a shower and eat before my Conklin came (:p)...

...and the tracking thing says it's still roughly 200 miles away.

AfroMan 09-03-2004 08:33 AM

Mmm...........pancakes.

Foxfire 09-03-2004 08:42 AM

Pancakes.

I wish I had pancakes.

I've gotta eat cereal today.

AfroMan 09-03-2004 08:45 AM

I just had two and im now eating an orange.

I eat too much:(

Foxfire 09-03-2004 08:47 AM

Or not enough.

AfroMan 09-03-2004 08:50 AM

Meh, I just don't seem to put on weight though, which I guess is a good thing. :)

bass_raptor 09-03-2004 08:54 AM

^^ Yeah, awesome. I put on a bit of weight but it doesn't show. ITs great, but someday, all the beer and pizza will probably catch up on me.

I dread that day

Foxfire 09-03-2004 08:55 AM

I've actually started eating better, but I didn't really eat that much anyways, just am trying to be a little bit more concious.

bass_raptor 09-03-2004 09:17 AM

I stopped eating maccas recently. There was a chain of events that put me off.
1. Eating the first big mac in my life
2. Watching my friend devour a cheeseburger in one bite
3. Then do it again straight after
4. another friend dipping chicken nuggets in thickshake

I cant stand it, its so gross, esp the fact that the buns are soggy with grease, yuk!

I did have pizza hut today though
And then a jug of beer
:)

bassist-bmxer 09-03-2004 09:25 AM

hello people

nisakss 09-03-2004 09:27 AM

Hi everyone, how's it going?

Foxfire 09-03-2004 09:46 AM

I'm hungry and awaiting my bass. How about you guys?

ShelBel 09-03-2004 09:55 AM

Ditto on both counts! Well, sort of- I'm waiting to be able to AFFORD my next bass. But I *am* hungry, have no money, and forgot to bring my lunch today. *sigh*

Brain like a steel sieve, I tell ya. Getting old stinks. ;)

bass_raptor 09-03-2004 10:04 AM

Hmm, not hungry, nah all good there.

Waiting for 5 string. Maybe a new jorb! I try out on tuesday. If all good i got it. Its a job chipping playstations. Its illegal in America but not in Australia :)

That would be awesome awesome awesome

Then I will have monies for new bass and amp :D

ShelBel 09-03-2004 10:11 AM

I should find out this afternoon if I got the job I interviewed for on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure I didn't get it; my co-worker who also interviewed for it has been here for three years and has more actual experience than me. But I figured what the heck, you never know unless you try.

Also learning some songs for an acoustic demo to be recorded next month in Duluth. My friend Chris will be playing guitar and singing, I'll be playing bass and singing. It should be an illuminating experience! :D

Foxfire 09-03-2004 10:53 AM

MY CONKLIN CAME.

OMG this thing is beautiful to play. The neck is pretty big, but it's not that hard to slap. The guy who sold it to me set the action PERFECTLY.

OMGOMG. Pics. :p

ShelBel 09-03-2004 11:09 AM

OoooooOOOOoooo! Foxfire, you better stinkin' have a digital camera, 'cos I wanna see photos and like NOW. ;)

Foxfire 09-03-2004 11:25 AM

ShelBel 09-03-2004 11:48 AM

Pics! Pics! Pics! :p

Foxfire 09-03-2004 11:55 AM

There's 40 other pictures on the camera so I have to upload those too.

:( :p

Radiobass81 09-03-2004 01:39 PM

What is the bass made off?

Man, I suddenly hate Alder... my fretless sounds way too cheap compared to my LTD C-10. Yeah, I am posititive it's the woods, as the pickups don't change much tone-wise (besides being more mid-ranged)

Sorry to get off topic, but it's hard for someone who only comes on the weekends to stay in topic in a Casual thread.

LightRaven 09-03-2004 01:57 PM

Casual 9... staying in time

 Hey everyone... How are you all?

So... good news first?

*My house was sold... sold to the first guy who saw it  ... my house needs alot of work, that we never actually got around to doing it because our realtor wouldn't approve the work... why fix things that are going to cost thousands of dollars when... you don't even own the house.

*I found our new house. With my father and mother being very preoccupied with his cancer... and my brother not much of a help at times.. I was helping my mom look for houses. Searching through thousands of house listings wasn't fun... but then I got good at it.. Every spare moment I spent in Philadelphia (most of my days are spent in NJ at work) I went to houses... loaded up my digital camera with tons of photos... was basically the eyes for my parents.. especially since many of the houses we were looking at didn't have picture on the website! And with that.. my mom saw one of the houses I was looking it... loved the "facts" that we had on it... went and saw it... placed a big... and WE GOT IT! :)

lmfao.. we placed a bid on it ASAP because tomorrow.. there was someone comming down from NYC to look at the same house... the philadelphia house market is being ravaged by NYC.. people moving down here, or buying and renting the houses down here.. because compaired to NYC ... the living expense down here is like beans. muwhahahahaha...

Baddish news: We got like six weeks to move

Bad news: My father wasn't accepted for medicaid (where the government pays for your health costs, etc).. so we can't get an ultrasound done on the tumor (which would tell us what stage is it in)... I want to rip out the hearts of doctors right now who refuse to speak to us because we don't have health insurance.

Basically.. money talks, and the sick die!

Have at it

LR

Foxfire 09-03-2004 02:01 PM

That's bull**** about your father. The government's priorities are quite interesting...Would be nice if, for a day, they just said: "Money is no object!"

I'm happay, I've got my Conklin. Just need a Roland DB-500 and I'm set basswise for life, pretty much (though some effects couldn't hurt ;)).

Radiobass: the Conklin is made of Swamp Ash with a Maple top. Ash, Bubinga, and Ovangkol are my favorite woods; Koa, Korina, and Maple are my favorite types. I actually don't mind Alder that much.

Left Shoe 09-03-2004 02:02 PM

wow the bad news was bad and the good news was good. my week was pretty bleh , i have to go sit at a football game tonight cuz im in marching band playing clarinet , this sucks i dont think im gonna do it again

nirve 09-03-2004 02:02 PM

RaVen_Bassist 09-03-2004 02:02 PM

woohoo first page!!!

you should tell those doctors to piss off and die.

whats happened in my life? well, i started "school" again, which is just a full time paid apprenticeship at the same place ive been working for the past year and a half. i guess it will be nice to say in may that i'm a full blown luthier. go me. thats about all here.

hmmm. heres a little update on married life.
its been almost 7 weeks. the best 7 weeks of my life. she's been gone for about 2 of those weeks, pressing family issues. but its especially great because we both have quite secure jobs. myself doing luthier work, and she's already a fully certified cisco technician at only 21. wow.

thats my life. whats yours?

That really sucks LR, I'm really sorry.

Our world is a really freakin hard place to live.

Radiobass81 09-03-2004 02:08 PM

Man, that sucks (about the medical plan)... Something similar had happened to my grandfather.

Say what you will about a nationalised health service, but that wouldn't happen with the NHS...
