Ah classic Andy  EDIT: oops double post |
i wish i could but unfortunately i cant go cause i got to work.
|
That would be a pain in the ***. Black Sabbath is one of the bands I really want to see, and would pay anything to do so.
|
i wanted too but i cant miss work again, ill get fired. ive used up all my sick and vacation days. i wish i could call in dead but then how would i get paid. i really love my job but i just hate missing a sabbath concert or any good show for that matter.
|
to answer the question earlier, i believe sabbath was psychedelic rock in the early and late 70's but now they seem more of metal pedecessors.
|
They were Hard Rock in the 70's and then on IMO, even the exctremely heavy Dehuminizer album wasn't true metal. True metal is based on classical yet Dehuminizer was still based on Iommi's Jazz and Blues background.
|
Well nothing is happening in this thread so I'll have to double post. Oh and Brum where did you get those bootlegs, downloading or buying illegal CD's?
|
I downloaded them from various P2P's. I've got a gig from 1971, Live at Last (I consider it to be a bootleg) and a gig from 1980 with Dio on vocals and Bill Ward on drums.
|
Did Live At Last end up on the Past Lives album? I heard it did and a few songs on that album are of lesser quality than the rest.
|
I think Disc 1 of Past Lives is Live at Last. Most of the album is pretty good but its a bit crap in some parts.
The bootleg I have from 1971 includes a VERY long guitar solo/jam from Iommi during Wicked World. Its brilliant. |
On the second disc i wish they put war pigs on (the version that is on story of vol 1...) i would have preferd that one rather than the version on disc 1
|
Warpurlgis?
Good song, slightly darker than War Pigs which is always good. I think I have a live version of it somewhere... |
Yeah I heard it from the Ozzman Cometh CD. Is that long solo/jam jazz? Cos its on Past Lives.
|
the only versions of Warpurlgis are on story of... dvd, The ozzman cometh and some hour long sabbath and ozzy demos i have, i think they are all different lyrically.
|
The lyrics are different in Warpurlgis to War Pigs, I think theres an extra verse and the order is a little different.
// Page 200 :chug: |
Isn't there also a version of Black Sabbath with an extra verse that was released on the Ozzman Cometh?
|
Its the original version of the song, the extra verse is really dark and quite evil, I like it alot.
|
Not sure if i have heard the extra verse, i know i have heard the extra verse on one of the older versions of black sabbath.
Woot 200 pages |
If I remember properly it had something to do with baby snatching. Wonder why they didnt release it in the final version.
|
Child cries out for his mother
Mother's screaming in the fire Satan points at me again Opens the door to push me in Oh No!
The extra verse on Black Sabbath. |
I love the meldo-dramatic "oh no" on black sabbath
|
Actually you should hear Ian Gillan do it, its incredible.
EDIT: You can get it here, http://home.swipnet.se/sabbath83/ |
7th page!!
Im going to have to try save this thread through trivia again. Who replaced Bill Ward on the Born Again tour? and what band was he from? |
Who replaced Bill Ward on the Born Again tour? and what band was he from?
I think it was Vinnie Appice, not sure what band. |
It was...Bev Bevan.
Not sure what band he was from though. Vinny replaced Bill on the Heaven and Hell tour. |
I think he was in Electric Light Orchestra.
|
<---
I should go outside for a bit. |
I don't get it. And anyways yes it was Bev Bevan and yes he was from ELO.
Well done both of you. |
Look at my postcount :)
// I guess I'll ask a trivia question now... What is the only Black Sabbath song that Tony Iommi has done backing vocals on? |
I can't remember but it was on either Technical Ecstacy or Never Say Die. And nice avatar.
|
Cheers, your avatar is going to be copied to my computer from vinyl sometime this afternoon :)
The answer to my Trivia Q is on the Never Say Die! album. |
a hard road
|
bill ward also sings lead vocals on swinging the chain
|
He also sings the vocals on Its Alright, from the Technical Ecstasy album :)
Here's one that you might not get... Who played the harmonica on Swinging the Chain? |
I'm pretty sure it was John Elstar.
|
I'm pretty sure it was John Elstar.
I'll go check. Edit: Yep, you're right :) |
Why not ozzy? He plays it on The Wizard doesn't he?
|
Yeah he played on the wizard, maybe over the years he couldnt anymore...or he was just to drugged up to do it
|
Why not ozzy? He plays it on The Wizard doesn't he?
Probably like what shadow said - too drugged up or un-interested in the album to play it. I think the Castle re-masters credit Ozzy for playing it though. // 5000th post in the thread :chug: |
